So if you're lonely, you know I'm here waiting for you
I'm just a cross-hair, I'm just a shot away from you
And if you leave here, you leave me broken shattered I lie
I'm just a cross-hair, I'm just a shot then we can die
I know I won't be leaving here with you
I say, don't you know?
You say, you don't know
I say, take me out!
I say, you don't show
Don't move, time is slow
I say, take me out!
Well I say, you don't know?
You say, you don't go
I say, take me out!
If I move, this could die
Eyes move, this can die
I want you to take me out

If I wane, this could die

I want you to take me out
If I move, this could die

The song was way ahead of its time, people just didn't know how to react to it. For example a bloke called Gavrilo Princip took this song way too literally.

I have a strong core memory with this song. I was alone at home 10 or 11 years old waiting to leave for school. I decide to turn on the radio, I'm in the living room sitting on the floor in front of the family boom box, this song instantly starts playing. I had never heard it before. I'm blown away by the sound and I recall turning up the volume and just leaning in to hear better, such a good feeling washed over me.

This song is a low key BANGER for karaoke. So easy to sing as you're pretty much shouting and it always gets people to join along.
Fun Fact: when the memebers chose a name for the band, they called it after a horse not the archduke
But the horse was named after the human Franz Ferdinand. Horse people have a certain way of naming their animals.

Public education failing us yet again. But also just the reality of widespread ignorance even in the information age. Disappointing to say the least.
A weird story about Franz Ferdinand:
I was on family holiday as a kid up in Scotland, and we went to visit the lighthouse on the Mull of Galloway. We had a little tour by the guy who was keeping the lighthouse (Super nice bloke) and climbed the stairs all the way to the top to where he was going to do an abseil off for Charity.
Anyway, somehow weirdly came up that I was learning the guitar at the time, and he mentioned his son played in a band and was currently in the Netherlands touring. Thinking that was pretty cool, I asked the name of the band, and he only bloody said Franz Ferdinand!
Turned out his son was the bassist Bob Hardy!
So before our holiday finished I sent the lighthouse keeper a drawing of the lighthouse I made, with him abseiling off the top as a thank you for the tour. To my surprise he sent me a letter back a few months later with some signed photos of the guys, and a note from them!
I was a massive fan and couldn't of been happier! Weird how it’s such a small world.
Bad ending is it all ended up getting stolen out of my bag at school after a show and tell!
Still butt hurt to this day. :L This song always reminds me, but always a cool memory.

This guy I have a crush on asked me what song I was listening to, so I truthfully replied with "Take Me Out". He said immediately after "Oh really, where do you wanna go?"
It was smooth as F.
awesome... xD
It was, however as I am a really awkward person I just said, "He means kill me" (Like I think Alex really does)
+Issy Dean did you eventually go out?
Sadly, not yet. But I am still waiting!
I am so doing that.
I love how the title can either be taken as a romantic thing or saying kill me
Or in this case both
it actually happened the killing thing in 1914
Started a war
I think that the lyrics don't complement that idea of romanticism.
It's about when Ferdinands's wife was shot a moment before Ferdinand was shot, and in that moment Ferdinand was asking to be taken out (shot.)
But it depends on how you look at it, it could also be saying 'take me out' in a romantic way, or because the person wants to go on a walk.
one of the catchiest riffs of the new century. a modern classic.
year 3000 and still famous n rocking!!!

The Track is about a person who is longing for love and connection, and longing for someone to take them out and show them the world. The narrator is asking for someone to take them out on an adventure and show them what life has to offer. The chorus reflects this sentiment, as the narrator is aware that they won't be able to leave with the person they desire but still wants them to take them out. The song symbolizes longing and hope and ultimately encourages the listener to make the most out of life with the people they care about.

The intro on this song is just perfection
Franz Ferdinand: *gets assassinated which leads to the death of 20 million people in WW1 which leads to the deaths of 80 million people in WW2*
Some random Scottish guys: *I SAY DON’T YOU KNOW*
Wrong, ww1 deads are 15 mls, ww2 are 60 mls
Also the war would've happened anyway. His assasinaton was just a flare shot singaling the beggining.
@@tommasobrok8938 It was anywhere between 15M to 20M.
As another has said, the assassination of Franz Ferdinand was only the excuse - in all chances, WWI and WWII would have happened as there were many other cultural and political problems bubbling in the background of this event.
Franz Ferdinand = Twin Towers. Iraq would have been bombed sooner or later regardless. The method of war continues.
@@Uaping That's theoretic politics, history is based on facts. Post-Communist countries like to believe the wars would have happened anyway.
Assassination of FF was a response to 100 years of abuse in Hungary where people forced to learn Hungarian.
It lead to the white terror after Trianon, the first anti-semitic event for centuries because they blamed them for the event.
Europe, especially Germany copied the whole thing word by word back then (because they wanted to win elections) that lead to the second one shortly after.
---
Small events can cause a huge range of things in the society, look Greta Thunberg, for example or the Saudi guy who was murdered in Istanbul.
Both wars indirectly caused by Hungarian nationalism that's quite opposite compared to the French where you build on similarities.
In Hungary they saw only the differences and tried to forcefully assimilate everybody.
I'm a Hungarian.
