I remember a bit where Kathy and Wayne had to play a couple arguing in a laundry room, and when Wayne said at the end that he couldn’t even remember what started their fight, Kathy said “I think it was when I said we should separate the whites from the colors.” 🤣
Kathy was a seriously underrated performer on WLIIA, would love to see her come back in the current series.

Im sure Kathy is a lovely lady and a sweet person but i always felt her skills were not as polished as the others. But i do agree that she had her moments, and when the moment was right she was right on point.

Wendell Carlisle that's true. Plus she always did look like she was having a blast. And who wouldn't want to have fun getting paid to do silly things with your friends on a regular basis?
@@bobbyshaddoe3004 I think she just had a different set of skills. She wasn't always as quick as the others, but she was great at character work. She was always good in Weird Newscasters and she had her moments in SFAH, and she was seriously underrated as Ryan's scene partner in Helping Hands.

She didn't have many ideas of her own when they played scenes from a hat but that was was of the best one from anyone doing SFAH in the series.... period.

Kathy didn’t have the comedic timing or ability the guys had but when she got it right, she was REALLY funny.
My thoughts exactly.
Apparently there was some behind-the-scenes politics at work that resulted in Kathy getting fewer opportunities to shine. The producers wanted to bring Colin's wife Debra onto the show as a regular, but both she and Colin realized how nepotistic this would look and recommended Kathy instead. Since she wasn't the producers' preferred choice, they ended up sticking her with a lot of games where she had to play the straight man (especially Let's Make a Date and Party Quirks) and deliberately kept her out of singing games like Hoedown and Irish Drinking Song. Plus, she was a new mother for a time on the show, which exhausted her and kept her from coming up with A-material all the time.
But she definitely knew how to run with the big boys when she got the chance. Heck, I remember when they built Season 7 out of unused material, Kathy suddenly started getting a lot more laughs, which would imply that she'd been legitimately funny all along and they'd just left all her best stuff on the cutting room floor until then.

Kathy honestly didn’t get the proper recognition during the first US run but when reruns started on abc family you could see her improvement as time went on. I’m so happy she got a lot better at questions only because once she did she got Wayne & Colin all flustered & getting Colin tongue tied back then was no easy feat. #5 is my #3 because it wasn’t just Kathy having a tough time. Everyone was having a tough time with that accent. Her line "I do not dance for the likes of you" is a quote I use from the show quite a lot. The #1 pick here is my second choice because you guys missed one that I’ve always loved. It was during SFAH & the suggestion was things you shouldn’t do while naked. She came out spinning & singing "the hills are alive…" that was the first time she made me laugh.
Edit: Honorable mention: when she completely dropped her character in party quirks & automatically went into mom mode to make sure Ryan was ok after he slammed the light with his head. Ryan finished the game so they wouldn’t have to restart it but poor Kathy had to stay in character & guess while also being genuinely concerned for him.

I have searched and searched for a particular game of Questions with Hats from the newer seasons. I’m pretty sure the fourth player was Brad Sherwood or Chip Esten.
Anyway Wayne cycled through the other players a few times before Colin got to step in to play. His hat of choice was a wig/mask combo that was truly startling and he nearly gave Ryan a heart attack when Ryan turned back around and saw him.

"Kathy’s tenure on WL has arguably become the most misunderstood. She’s remembered by most fans of the US edition as ‘…the woman’. Because she never did Hoedowns, or singing games, or often didn’t contribute much to quick-fire/all-four games, a lot of people wrote off her presence on the show as obligatory. And if that is the case…blame the producers.
"My theory, as well as the theory of many other whosers on here, is that the producers wanted a fourth-seater that wouldn’t upstage Ryan, Colin or Wayne. I know what you’re thinking- Chip, Greg, Brad, even Jeff Davis were all allowed to upstage the big three and stayed on the show. But, due to the 2000s-era sexism that…has passed into this decade sadly, the producers didn’t think audiences would like a dynamic, outwardly funny lady. Look at S2 as evidence- they got great, outward material from Josie Lawrence, Denny Siegel and eventually Karen Maruyama. The one female performer who takes a more passive stance, and lets the other 3 upstage her more, gets extended for 3 more seasons. Funny, eh?
"And to curtail this rant slightly, this is a trend that’s continued to the CW version, with Heather Anne Campbell and Nyima Funk being emphasized less than the three men, to the point where this past batch of US tapings featured no female fourth-seaters.

That's the joke lol. Kathy, Colin and Ryan have all known each other for many years working the Canadian comedy and improv circuits. Kathy and Colin are Canadian while Ryan is dual American-Canadian and honed his comedic craft in Canada, where he met Colin and formed a long-lasting friendship. Basically, all three are Canadian comedians and since it's a REALLY small community up here, they've known one another for decades.

Outrageous, the tiny amount of screen time that the editors would give her. There was that one episode where she literally did not get a SINGLE word. Also, she often had great lines and moments that got almost zero reaction from the audience, I guess because they were just sexist as shit.
The African chants & her dancing during said segments deserves a list by themselves..

Kathy Greenwood is one is the most talented comedians and improvisers in the world. If you’ve only seen her on “Whose Line?” you have no idea what she’s capable of or how good she is. No woman performer has ever truly shone on “Whose Line?” And Colin, Ryan, Wayne, and Brad have all publicly stated that this is because the producers were never comfortable with women on the show and always cut them off at the knees, pigeonholing them and limiting their abilities to truly improvise unrestrained in the way that the men did. Women can and DO improvise as well or better than men. Imagine if one of the women from SNL had been on the show? What if Amy Poehler or Rachel Dratch or Kristen Wiig or Maya Rudolph or Kate McKinnon had been on the show? For example. Or how about the great Melissa McCarthy? Or how about the great Phoebe Waller-Bridge? She would have been incredible on this show!! Or how about the the terrific Irish comedians like Aisling Bea or Sharon Horgan? Not only would all of these women have killed on “Whose Line?” but they would have mopped the floor with the men. Because the talent and will of the women I named can not and will not be tempered, especially not to make men feel more comfortable. Just ask Jimmy Fallon.
