    Semihumans, demihumans and ventihumans? :p
Cool stuff as always. Those pictures flashing on screen are very evocative for me, never experienced older editions (Bladurs Gate and Neverwinter Nights games dont count). Maybe someday...

Awesome man. I just googled B&W old DND pics of something and came across most that way. :)

Like the idea of Nature causing the adaptations. Interesting and will be awaiting a follow up video on more of your ideas
Have a great New Year. Toasting to your success

thanks! yeah its like mother nature causing a forced evolution into a different type of human.

It would pain me to give up my usual half-giant/half-halfling Paladin/Assassin. If it were me, I'd use the term variant human rather than "sub human." I'd happily play a mongol/freman shaman

    I like it.
Kind of has a bit of Runequest feel to it. Barbarians of Lemuria does a little bit of what youre talking about (recommend checking it out).
Culture as class/determines class makes sense to me.
It makes more sense, to me, that a thief/rogue class character is far more likely to come from a city/civilized culture or even nomad culture (raids on other tribes, etc), than from a rural sheep farming community, but it would make sense for a cleric or fighter to come from that community (tending the religious flock, defending the herd from wolves and other things trying to get the sheep, raiders, etc).
    More, good Sir 🤘

Its the mystara consept properly implemented.

You know, I have all the mystara books but have yet to go thru them. Bought them over covid with all the extra money I wasn’t spending at dive bars and on questionable women . 😂. I do like Mr. Welch’s channel though. Sounds like a great setting. Maybe I’ll go thru them all for inspiration. What did they get wrong with the implementation of mystara?

I don't see why you need to limit this to just the subhumans. Having regional lists of classes for each area would work as well and give players more options. And this would work for non-humans like forest elf classes vs high elf classes, etc.
And, just for comparison, Basic D&D quickly added multiple classes for each race. So not all PC elves were the basic Elf class.
[BTW, I've used racial classes in my game for years now, and I found it to be preferable to race+class as I can tweek all the classes. So a human cleric works very different to a dwarf cleric, for instance]

I get what you're saying but its more work than i'd like to put in. Plus i want the focus of the game to be on the newly evolving races v the old ones, and the city v the country folk.

@@Joethelawyer One of the things I've learned over the years is that you don't actually need to fully write up all the classes before the game begins. Start with a few basic ones and slowly add them as you play and as your players request new classes to play. I had a character want to play a goblin, so I created three special goblin classes for him. And I only wrote out the first three levels before he chose.

what he is talking about literally has existed in Forgotten realms all the way back when it was first released including the cultural abilities Pathfinder 1e did this as well by including racial traits for different regional areas......

    • @Joethelawyer
      @Joethelawyer Před 6 měsíci

Maybe. But I doubt they will implement it the same way I do. With cultural benefits come cultural detriments. Going to make roleplaying then in a mixed group hard to do. Hard to even justify them being anywhere with those not of their culture

  • @RHampton

The culture warriors will hate this. Personally, I think this is a concept worth a try, but it does sound like both system and setting will be tightly integrated. That might limit marketability unless you are careful with how you organize this heartbreaker.
