Problem 1: A liquid (rho = 1.65 g/cm3) flows through a horizontal pipe of varying cross section as in the figure. In the first section, the cross-sectional area is 10.0 cm2, the flow speed is 275 cm/s, and the pressure is 120 kPa. In the second narrower section, the cross- sectional area is 2.50cm2. Calculate the speed of the flow in the narrower section.
Problem 2: A liquid (rho = 1.65 g/cm3) flows through a horizontal pipe of varying cross section as in the figure. In the first section, the cross-sectional area is 10.0 cm2, the flow speed is 275 cm/s, and the pressure is 120 kPa. In the second narrower section, the cross- sectional area is 2.50cm2. Calculate the pressure of the flow in the narrower section.
Problem 3: Water moves through a pipe in a steady, ideal flow. At the upper point the pressure is p2 =120 kPa, the flow speed is 8.08 m/s, and the diameter of the pipe is 1.5 cm. At the lower point, located 5 m lower, the pipe's diameter is 3 cm. What is the pressure p1 at the lower point of the pipe?
Problem 4: A fluid of density rho = 1.35 g / cm3 flows in a horizontal tube of variable cross section. In the first segment the cross section is 8 cm2, the flow speed is 300 cm/s. In the narrower segment the cross section is 4 cm2, the pressure is 66 kPa. What is the pressure in the larger cross section segment?
