  • Teaching struggling readers can be a challenge, and I'm so thankful I've found some homeschool resources that have helped my struggling reader. Today I'm sharing how I help my struggling reader in our homeschool. I love that homeschooling gives me the opportunity to adapt to meet my children's individual needs, and I'm so thankful for the various programs out there, especially Orton Gillingham style programs, that help struggling readers. If you have children with dyslexia or are trying to help your struggling readers, I truly hope this brief homeschool curriculum review is helpful to you because these homeschool curriculum choices have been so helpful to us! They have some fantastic dyslexia reading strategies and all-around great instruction and tools for struggling readers.

    So helpful. Thank you. I have a struggling reader and have been wondering about all about spelling to teach reading. I currently use phonics pathways and it really is fantastic and is working. Not to mention it is inexpensive. We also use Learn to Read from Easy Peasy (free) which my son likes a lot better. We want nothing more than to see our babies read fluently so they will be able to read to learn. Slow and steady wins the race. You're doing a great job mama! ❤

    So cool. We’re in our first year of kindergarten and use explode the code with the good and the beautiful currently.
    We are continuing with both good and the beautiful, explode the code and have all about spelling to include for first grade. Also, we’re giving first language lessons for the well trained mind a try as a loop in since I’ve heard great things with the oral narration and memory work. It’s great we can start interventions earlier and immediately for our kiddos because we homeschool. Look forward to hearing more updates.

      @@bayamonrican It’s been helping a lot. We like to mix it up with ABC, See Hear Do for fun. She’s still on the pre-reading level. We take it slow around here and go at her pace. AAR is an Orton Gillian program. We were recommended several, but AAR looked the most engaging.

      It’s a good supplement for reinforcing reading skills, especially if you suspect any kind of dyslexia. The games online are pretty rudimentary, but they add in a component of fun.

    • @TheHomeschoolConvert
      @TheHomeschoolConvert  Před 4 měsíci

      I think they’re both valuable resources depending on what you’re looking for. We just use ETC now since my girls can do it independently, only sometimes needing my assistance when a new phoneme is introduced. Blast Off was really helpful in establishing some fluency but is much more parent/teacher involved, which is what one of my daughters needed at the time. Her younger sister is a strong reader and didn’t use it at all but has done ETC since she started schooling and loves it.
