      @@priceandpride I posted that two years ago, finally finished my basement just months ago. I ended up with $67,000 in it. I did 100% of the work minus the drywall.
      1700 sq ft. Full kitchen/bar, full bath, bedroom, large weight room with rubber flooring and media room that has 3 tvs/fireplace.
      Probably looking $150k+ if subcontracted out. It's truly a 2nd home down there.

    Great video Eddie. My builder wanted at least $50/sq ft to finish my brand new basement and I figure $20K tops if I do it myself with 2 bedrooms, a big 3/4 bath with double sinks and five foot shower, home theater room. Kitchenette area, work out room, and a big pantry too. I am doing it for a third or less than his price. I plan on doing soundproofing with Rockwool or similar product and some led lighting along with overhead fixtures in bedrooms with fan bracing done for future options. This breakdown was a big help for me to help in my permit process. Enjoy all of your videos. Keep up the good work!

      So the video was made a little while ago, has the price fluctuated much from the 1000 sq/ft basement materials you suggested? I'm also curious about things like... putting in a door to the exterior, cutting and adding windows, etc.. Is there a good resource I can go for those additional items or is the cost for those items too subjective? Thanks!

    • @BasementFinishingMan
      @BasementFinishingMan  Před 9 lety

      Jordan Geddes Exterior egress doors and windows run about $3,000.00 to $4,500.00 if the basement is not exposed at all in the rear of the house...this would be labor and materials to install completely. Do it yourself and you could easily save half of this amount as it is your labor cost.

  • @jamesmchugo9422

    Great video. 👍 this breakdown and explanation really helps me visualize what’s ahead. I’m closer to 1200 sq ft, and planning for a full bath, but the rough in plumbing and 95% of my HVAC ductwork is already in place. So I’m guessing my costs are going to fall in pretty close. Because of the insulation I’m planning to use I’m adding $1000 to the cost. I do have two questions, I’m in a zone 6 region, southern Minnesota. My basement is poured concrete, as far as I know, it is not sealed on the outside, cheap bastards! Would not have added that much to overall cost to have sealed the exterior side of the walls, and insulating the exterior side of the foundation walls would not have been that expensive during construction but that’s a different conversation. Was planning to use 2 inch ridge foam panels, sub grad rated closed cell, I believe rated at 25lb and are R10 and 1X3 furring lattice on exterior walls, horizontal and vertical to give me chases for electrical. The insulation will cost approximately $900 with adhesive and the furring about half of the cost of traditional 2X4 walls. The basement has never been wet with standing water, but humidity is high, about 60% at about 60°F. My issue is possibly of mold issues over time forming in or behind the exterior wall cavity because of capillary effect from ground moisture. And is R10 enough, or should I add one more inch and increase the R value to R15? Any thoughts are welcome, and thank you in advance.

    Great video and very informative! My I am sure that I would not be able to do this myself. By any chance would you travel to NY, Long Island area?

    Important note: you also have to account for all the new tools you will need to buy to do this job. I wonder how much all that would cost? I’m sure it’s still much less then if you had a contractor do it.

    2x4’s are currently $5.87 a piece at Home Depot (Wow! That’s the most expensive they’ve been in a while). I wonder how much this would raise the total price of a basement project?

    Eddie’s pricing is spot in - (lumber might be a bit higher now with covid but everything else is still in line). Anybody on the fence about purchasing his training videos...do it! I bought them about 8-9 years ago and finished 2 of my basements with them. Now we’re moving again and guess what, I’m back for some more training and tips to build out my 3rd basement. Best money you’ll ever spend. Trust me!

    I have about 1000 sq ft in my basement but about 20% of it would be the utility room and a storage room so theare are unfinished so that leaves me with about 800 sq to finish an with a drop ceiling since I like easy access to the pipes and wires. I don't have any major hvac apart from moving the existing baseboard (don't need AC as the basement is always cool). How much do you think approximately?

    Unfortunately, my county mandates that a licensed electrician and plumber do the electrical and plumbing work, respectively. How much should I expect to pay for their subcontracting work?

    I think this video is very great at giving the up front information. I would ask what if I do not have all the necessary tools that go along with finishing a basement. How much is that going to start costing me to rent/buy these tools

    • @ChildofGodforevr
      @ChildofGodforevr Před 6 lety

      Travis Swan Home Depot and other places will rent u tools, but it’s not cheap.

      @@BasementFinishingMan just had my first contractor come out and he says without painting and without doing the floor 40k at me... I asked him to itemize that quote he says" that's not a quote that's the exact price."
      and he wouldn't itemize the exact price.

    Greetings from The Czech Republic. It is interesting how cheap you get all this in the US. In my case down here 10 grand would be just to get the floors done. I'm not sure what is the best practices for basement renovation, I guess you forgot to mention windows replacement to get some more light in.

    Very informative video, I have a question though, how much does it cost per square feet to finish a basement including materials and labor hiring a contractor?

    • @BasementFinishingMan
      @BasementFinishingMan  Před 7 lety +2

      $25.00 and up. Some companies charge over $45.00 per sq. ft. depending on the complexities of the project. $30 to 35$ sq. ft. is average.
