S1 - Ep 129 - Klawer, a Town on the Banks of the Olifants River!

- When we left Skurfkop we took the N7 and headed to a small town on the banks of the Olifants River called Klawer. We stopped off at the station just to have a look and were very surprised at how big it was! It seems to be on a busy route for transporting cargo from Cape Town to Namibia. Well, that is what I thought anyway. From there we drove to Lemoenkloof Farm and that is where we spent the night. What a lovely place it was. I grew up in Klawer. The station received many accolades for best station, but now looks like crap. The bridge you crossed out of town was once severely damaged due to floods. The entire bridge had to be raised back up. There used to be a primary and a secondary school. You drove past both. The primary school was converted into flats. The secondary school was where you came into town. You also drove past my high school in Vanrhynsdorp. You need to slow down a bit if you can😉. You missed allot.
Lovely small town called "Clover" very calm and peaceful. Orange Grove Farm beautiful place to overnight. Wide open spaces excellent .
We enjoyed our visit to Klawer and had a fantastic stay at Lemoenkloof. The afternoon and early morning sun was just awesome! It was such fun to play with dogs again, we haven't done that in a very long time! 🐶
They make a wine in Klawer called African Ruby infused with rooibos.
I think the train actually comes from CPT during the flower season. The Sishen line I think is closer to the coast at this point. Yes, the vineyards in the river bed were fascinating. Vredendal too. The dogs were cute man.

It was a lovely place and nice to have some space. We're not always that lucky, so enjoy it when we do. 🏘️

Get lost??? Really. But I must say my husband managed to get lost in Colesburg.
Colesberg might be a tad bigger than Klawer! Luckily we managed to find our way around just fine! 😆
How did you manage to take photos of the roofs?
When the weather conditions allow it, I like to fly the drone for a different perspective. 🤩

Yup, I did indeed! I figured everyone would know what I meant though since we were nowhere near Klapmuts at the time! 😁
