What is a Contract and Why Do We Need Contract Law?

This video provides a definition of contract and explains why we as a society need contracts and contract law. Essentially, a contract is an enforceable promise. Because moral rules by themselves are insufficient, we need binding contracts to ensure the protection of weaker parties and the market or economy as a whole.
