Great video Sparky. Marking with pencil and the clean up accentuate the professional job you did.
Good morning Gary! It's my preference to use pencil and clean up even though it does take extra time.
There's a HUGE difference between being an ELECTRICIAN VS a Mechanical ELECTRICIAN.. Huge difference.
Thanks!
Well said
How does bending pipe make you a great electrician it makes you a good pipe bender
I agree
In the competition it good to see the bend marks to view the consistency and accuracy of bends.
Thanks!
dude irons creases into his jeans. I don't think i will ever be on that level.
I hear that!
Given the time these pros were under, I saw a lot of mistakes, but! Give them time to do the job right, I'm sure these pros would get it 💯 perfect! Good job fellas!
👏👏Love How You Got In The Competition 😂😂Nicely Done
LOL! Yes, I jumped right in!
You are the best electricistan ever my friend
Thank you so much!
Wonder if anyone has ever used some square washers to install under the strut holding the vertical 2” and just under with no saddle….
1st place Sparky for safety, clean work area, and extra effort, his bends looked factory made like a machine and in a excellent time frame.
2nd place Greg skill all but one measurements marked on pipes for the 4 point saddle, and back of bend, he could have marked the lengths to the box wish would have made him that much faster, connectors in boxes first a great job. Should have cleaned the markers and his first 90 was a little long. But still good craftsmanship.
Thanks so much Richard!
Sparky your number uno in my book.
Thanks so much!
Sparky for the win. Keep up the good work Bill.
LOL! I didn't expect anyone to vote for me but I'll take it! :) Thanks Mike!
I actually work under a guy who one this. I thought he was messing with me. Then showed me him on CZcams lol
Hi Jake? Is it Greg?
Would it be quicker to make all of the 90 bends at the same time? You guys made the saddles for all 4 conduits then made the bends and final cuts individually. Seems you could make the measurements for the bends all at one time 2" longer than the last then make all the cuts at one time 2" longer as well. This question is coming from a guy that is happy with a bend then cuts it to fit with couplers as needed. Happy New Year.
Yes, you can do it that way. Whatever is the most comfortable for you. Happy New Year!
Yes they could have done that, practice practice, practice, and more practice especially with simple math practice again lol, builds the confidence in the field especially for a contest.
Sparky should have won that 75k…
LOL! I was behind a camera though!
@@SparkyChannel lol
I tweaked the numbers a little bit and the way I do it is on the air make my first 30 them rotate 180 degrees make my second bend and slide the pipe forward and make my third bend rotate 180 degrees again and make my fourth bend literally done in less than 2 minutes, but I work commercial construction 100% of the time so there is that
Excellent! There is more than one way to do this. You might consider entering the contest next year. $110K in prizes!
Residential is out of my league right now I have never worked in a house in my 6 years as an electrician and that competition combines them both
@@frank_texas7400 Yes, the competitions do require both residential and commercial.
Very cool , both of you.
Thanks!
I noticed that one of Greg's fittings, the leftmost fitting on the right box, looked like it wasn't secured 100%. 31:37 shows what I'm talking about. Compared to the others, I can see some of the threads and it isn't sitting against the box like all the others.
Interesting, thanks.
He did finish light-years ahead of everyone else. Cut him some slack
@@GForceIntel no doubt Greg was impressive, just an observation given that electrical work has many strict regulations
@ian22222 I just started bending emt for fun, and I honestly have no idea of the regulations, but I think in the field, he would perform a better job. At least, I hope he would.
I'm not opposed to Sharpie on a conduit run, as long as it's not going to be an exposed run. But in the SF IBEW Apprenticeship you're usually told to never use Sharpie on conduit.
Right on!
Obviously Greg wins but Sparky's looks better. 👌
Thanks!
How did y’all calculate it right the first time what measurements did you use
See my video: How To Make Parallel EMT Bends with 4 Point Saddle Bends and 90° Stubs: czcams.com/video/VO4Jiri80r0/video.html
For "pro's" there was one thing that surprised me. The marking of EMT with sharpie... not cool. Pencil is so much less visible and erasable. Sparky's work looked cosmetically a lot cleaner.
Good point! Thanks for sharing!
I use sharpies all the time. If it's exposed an alcohol wipe takes it right off
@@BroadcastBuddy How often do you have alcohol wipes in the field?
@@David-uj2ms you can just use the sharpie again. Write back over it and you can wipe it off. Viola.
@@midwestimprov4813 I know the sharpie trick. And now you have sharpie on yourself. Pencil is much more practical.
Go head sparky lol this guys great 👍
Thanks James! 👍
Is there a different height allowance for clearance of the 4 point saddle bend between Sparky, Greg & Mike?
Greg & Mike have a Uni-Strut supports at the wire way & below the square boxes on their project boards. IMO, these would reduce the elevation required between the project wall & the obstructions.
Sparky does not have that on his project wall.
Why is that guy crawling around on the floor. He's on his knees using the bender to cut pipe with is crazy. Cant even get a good motion of hacksaw. Then he stands up gets his remere and gets back down on the floor on his knees to reame the pipe . Then he stands back up again. But left the bender laying on the ground.
You should enroll in the competition.
Excelencia y Excelencia y más Dios los bendiga a todos ustedes y familia y amigos
What can I say,,,,,good job guys.
Love your videos Sparky!
Thanks!
Sparky won. Greg's 90 bends were off a little. I don't like sharpies on my conduits.
Woohoo! I'll have to mention that to my friend Greg. LOL! ⚡
If add two offset someone may crabbed conduit to a dog leg shape and drag slow down the speed.
This video is so watched baby
Wow!
Great video
Thank you.
Thanks Tommy!
How do you avoid dog leg ? Thank you,
Generally you'll do it by eye and feel. If you watch, after they finish an offset or saddle they sight down the conduit to see if it's legged or not. Then they'll adjust it accordingly.
Use the bender foot casting as a reference when doing the air bends.
What’s the distance from center to center on the pipe? 2 inches
Yes, 2" on center.
SPARKY What They Do With All The Materials After The Show...
They give it all to local electrical schools.
😂 nice job 👍👌 🌹❤️
Very very nice biutiful
Thanks a lot!

11:16 not the way you bend but very unique. Youre supposed to work your way down the pipe. I wouldnt want to be timed tho.
He's using the pushthrough method, star-notch-arrow.
@@Bapuji42 the what? oh I gotta hear this one..
@@patdonaldson839 I was thinking of this, my bad: czcams.com/video/MZQNOJi79Jo/video.html
It doesn't look like Greg (the champion) and Sparky work their way down the pipe. They makes all their bends away from the center, flipping the bender around between each one, and bending both center bends before the outer ones. I guess there's more than one way to skin a cat.
@@Bapuji42 yes that is exactly how you do it. I have never heard the term push through method. Its just what I have been doing for years.
@@patdonaldson839 Well that's what Bill calls it. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
mike struggle is math just add 2"
And spelling
Greg
Sparky
Michael
in that order
Fair enough, thanks!
40 years from now, robots will be making this in minutes.
I doubt it
I hate walking into a building and seeing marker on pipe. Why can't you use a pencil and wipe the mark off. Marker makes a great job look terrible.
If you use a sharpie, you can write back over the sharpie and wipe it off.
Yo. Great vid. Why did u delete your channel and make me resubscribe.
He posted a video on this new channel on why it happened.
Dave, there you are! I tried to find your e-mail to tell you about the new channel. it hasn't been the same without you. LOL! Sparky Channel got hacked and I lost all 934 videos and 182K subs. I started over from all zeros and I'm trying to find my subscribers. :)
@@michaelperez9290 Yes, that's correct.
Please help me sir job i electrician maintenance wark sir job please come to you company in sir
No openings, sorry. Good luck!
Markers only 2 you my friend they use markers a no no
Thanks!
