SO! With more Deadpool Rumors amongst the grape vine lately the one and ONLY! BLADE! With WESLEY SNIPES has been mentioned! So we go back to 1999 with a movie reaction to BLADE! A half-mortal, half-immortal is out to avenge his mother's death and rid the world of vampires. The modern-day technologically advanced vampires he is going after are in search of his special blood type needed to summon an evil god who plays a key role in their plan to execute the human race.

Marvelous intro. I was 14 years old and a freshman in high school when this movie was released. Since 1995, I've been a fan of Blade. I have been a fan of Wesley Snipes since 1986.

I was 11 when this came out. I'm 37 now. And it's still in my Top 7 of my all time favorite superhero films and my favorite Wesley Snipes film.
blade was damn near invincible but he ultimately lost his fight against the most powerful blood-sucker of all -- the irs.
Naw, we all got to pay our taxes, unless you are a big corporation.

"Funded The MCU" is an understatement. Marvel Inc was heading into bankruptcy, The success of Blade made movie companies see value in the IP's, which is why The Marvel movies spilntered into the ownership of three different movie companies.

Love both your reaction as usual. Always getting into the story. Blade was literally first Marvel testing of waters even before Iron Man. loved Blade and Whistlers bond. You could see it was deeply emotional. The point that Blade turned when Whistler had to shoot himself..Wesley did amazing you could see it pained him deeply without having to show the emotion. It was father / son. Wesley did amazing job at this portrayal. I love this movie.

Wesley Snipes is so proficient at at different martial arts that they had to ask him to slow down because he moved so fast that it was just blurring on film.
Blade 2 is absolutely worth a watch aswell.

Eric Brooks aka Blade first appeared in Tomb Of Dracula #10, 1973 written by Marv Wolfman and drawn by the late great Gene Colan. In his first appearance he wasn't half/Vampire half/Human. He was just immune to vampirism due to his mother being bitten by a vampire while she was given birth. Morbius The Living Vampire bit Blade in the 1990s & turned him into a dampir(half-vampire half/human). The reason Morbius was able to him is because he was a genetically enhanced vampire & not a supernatural vampire. Blade was immune to supernatural vampirism not a genetically enhanced vampire. In Blade's first appearance he didn't look like the movie. He had a green jacket, green googles, brown pants, a bandlier with wooden & steel blades & an afro. Blade's look changed in the 1990s during his appearance in the Spider-Man animated series shortly before the movie came out

FWIW, there's about as many Marvel movies outside the MCU as there are in the Iron Man to Endgarme run: Blade, X-Men (incl Wolverine and Deadpool), Spider-Man (2x), Ghost Rider, Punisher, Daredevil, Electra, Hulk, Fantastic Four.

This movie is awesome one of snipes best. Glad you did a reaction to it although Blade 2 might be slightly better. The blade reboot is gonna have a hard time trying to top it.

Blade is actually in the New Line Cinema universe not the 20th century Fox universe. It goes based on the movie studio logo shown at the beginning of the movies. New Line and Fox was acquired by Disney I believe.
Fox was..is still owned by Warner Brothers.. under its current iteration of Warner Brothers/Discovery.

Yeah the rumors about Wesley on the Blade 3 set was definitely overblown I always felt. There wasn't any issues like that in any other movie either. Just that one. It sounds like he was just method acting and some people supposedly took that as he's hard to work with. And after hearing some of the interviews from Wesley, I'm pretty inclined to think I was right. Also, Mahershala Ali's Blade was always gonna be a movie. If you haven't seen the second Blade movie then I highly recommend watching. Its my favorite. Blade 3 wasn't as good as the first 2 but you might wanna check that out too after watching Deadpool & Wolverine.
10:04 Wesley was so influential as Blade that they actually started modeling the look off of Wesley in the comics. Not the other way around. Funny enough, he actually had this same haircut pretty much in Demolition Man with Stallone which came out years before this.

Blade Trinity Debacle
Writer/ Director David Goyer ....in my opinion... takes the bulk of the blame for Blade Trinity. Everyone is hating on Snipes refusing to find out *WHY* he did that.
Note than Goyer was the writer of all the Blade movies and Snipes had creative input as the producer for all the movies....until Trinity when Goyer pushed to become Director and producer on top of being writer where he focused to making Blade a side character in his movie intent on making a spin-off for Reynolds and Biel to be the actual supernatural hunters while Blade remains STUCK doing only vampires.
There is an after end credits scene in Blade trinity that proves this where it shows Reynold's + Biel's characters take down a *WEREWOLF* to set up the spin off. This scene was later cut from the main film and placed among deleted scenes.
NOTE: It was Wesley Snipes who lobbied and pushed HARD to get play a superhero. He initially pushed to play Black Panther but the budget required ... at that time... was too high for Newline studios so Snipes pivoted to Blade on condition that he modernized the character which is how we got all the sleek hair cut, gear, tattoos, costume, mannerisms, etc.
It was also Snipes who pulled Donnie Yen to be in Blade 2 and request Yen to choreograph some fight scenes.
Snipes also had some level of creative input towards the story or at least the screenplay as a producer.
All creative plans and inputs are of course discussed and sorted out between all the writers, producers and actors before a movie is made.
In Trinity, Goyer was given greater creative control ... He started ignoring everything Snipes suggested for Trinity and apparently Goyer made changes to the already agreed script without informing Snipes.
Snipes trying talking to Goyer about the sudden changes. Goyer was adamant. Snipes went to the studio execs and they over-ruled Snipes on favor of Goyer.
This is where Snipes utterly lost it and attacked Goyer. Basically Goyer had power grabbed the Blade franchise away from Snipes yet it is Snipes who started the whole project which is why studio execs gave Snipes creative input and producer credit ability on all Blade movies until Trinity.
Snipes got trapped.... He was under contract and refusing to do the movie (Blade Trinity) would have been a contract violation which had *VERY* hefty penalties on top of reimbursement of all production expenses up till the point of the violation which could have been in the 10s of millions of dollars so Snipes basically felt *FORCED* to finish the movie.
Unfortunately Ryan Reynolds became the innocent by-stander recipient of Snipes frustrations and there was nothing Reynolds could do to de-escalate the situation. I strongly suspect Reynolds knew this and has taken effort to .... in his own way.... make amends with Snipes requesting Snipes to be in his Deadpool and Wolverine movie *AND* also trying to promote Snipes towards Marvel to give him his last hurrah as Blade in a manner symbolically similar to Logan movie.

Hocus Pocus has arguably terrible CGI and it was backed by Disney. This was from Marvel while it was going broke. The CGI wasn't great but it wasn't horrible for its time considering what they were doing with it. There was a lot of CGI and the budget was only so big. This movie is definitely a 10. It saved Marvel and there would be no MCU without it. It was good enough to earn two more movies as well.
Your missing the point when comparing Hocus Pocus to Blade, Hocus Pocus has almost no CGI, no practical effects really vs Blade having multiple scenes using cgi shots, your comparison is kind of silly.
Blades comparative movie would be The Matrix which spent 15 million more to produce, by saying the CGI looks bad undoes the fact that it was the cutting edge for its time, whereas now we use so much CGI and it just looks terrible for no reason.

the new blade movie they still having Creative problems and issue with the film, and its because they wanted to bring in blade's daughter into the new film and have blade as a side character in his own film smh lol because we know Kevin Feige turn everything into the MSU and they keep pushing for woke things in these films I'm glade Mahershala Ali wasn't liking the scrips they was coming up with because we want to see a full blade movie not about his daughter being the main character that no body cares about her small story in the comics lol its not that hard to just make a blade movie they trying way to hard and all we want to see is blade fighting other vampire's is that really that hard to come up with a story? smh lol
It's not a rumor... The movie came out already. X23, Blade, Gambit, Elektra, amongst others are in it. And it's not as entertaining as the first 2 Deadpool movies. Don't waste your money. Jackman made a "Hugh" mistake not leaving it at Logan. Sorry. As a fan of X-Men since 1984, I'm allowed my opinion. This was a crap cash grab.
