These ppl were xxced up when they converted to religion of Rich.

Visited Gawadar back in March 2021 for the investment construction & thesis on Floods in Pakistan.
As an Architect, gave them solutions & identify the same problems related to “Kachi Abadi” & waterway been blocked with the unauthorised seizure by private housing schemes. The director hardly met for 10 minutes but the team of GDA had brief sessions.
One more problem they face & have problem was the fencing of the area & check-posts after every 500 metres.
After watching this podcast, it is said to say that what we predicted are the same issues till this day.

Mr Alam has shed light on the plight of the local Gwadar residents who have used the land and waters for survival for millenia; with so much empathy, passion and knowledge. it is indeed sad when power and politics dominates at the expense of the poor and disenfranchised like the Baloch. Why would they not become separatists when a proud people are reduced to dire straits and Punjabi zamindars/elite are so apathetic to their needs.

Excellent conversation Shehzad! On natives being more aligned to nature wanted to highlight two points:
    1. The Sindhi gods in pre Islamic days used to be thought as one who was born in water and he used to be prayed to when they got out in the sea and months later he used to be celebrated when they came back from the sea. And this used to be cyclical which means that they understood which season to go out and when to come back and stay on land. Points to Waqas' statement that without maths and chemistry they can say when fishes will come.
    2. In the Mahabharata - the famous Hindu epic, the heroes are in exile and move from place to place. There are various stories which say that the animals in that forest used to come and tell them that please don't hunt here any more. Correlate with what you said that even when hunting natives were aware that how much to do!
Sad that we are becoming modern and yet moving away!
Apologies for a long comment but really appreciate the podcast!

I can relate to both Shehzad Ghias and Waqas Alam. Hearing the situation in Sindh and Baluchistan from you is so sad. I'm sure similar things happen around the world. Shehzad and Waqas, you are the hope for Sindh and/or Baluchistan. The Punjab province is the defacto ruler. The other provinces are just a source of natural resources! The development of people in other regions is not the responsibility the Government!

1:32:32 Okay, so the title of podcast is, why Balochistan is ignored in mainstream media, and then you go on and say, a middle class Punjabi (teacher/shopowner/farmer etc…) is to be equally blamed and why they don’t know about it 🤔
This podcast is becoming more and more Punjabi-hate platform rather than genuine criticism.

@@nibbaspeaks1681 No, my point is, the title says why Balochistan issues are not raised by mainstream media. Which means, why are these issues not being made a public knowledge.
Then why is a common middle or lower middle class person being blamed for something he/she doesn’t even know about.
Even if some of them do, they can’t do anything about it…bcoz they don’t have any power.
Palestine coverage has been really good I would say. Doesn’t matter if you open social media apps or national or international news, it’s all over it. Hollywood celebrities (which elite and upper middle class people follow) have been posting about it. So, it is a very much common knowledge!

Well, the reason is because it is not something only propped up by the state but also because it is a genuine issue of the people. In Kashmir families have been divided since decades, the human rights abuses in Kashmir by the forces enrage people. If China would have occupied not mostly very scarcely populated area in a high desert, but an entire region with a people from India. Then the feelings in India would be on a completely different emotional scale!!! . In that environment it would also be very difficult to talk of trade in India with China. Try to switch perspectives...

Interesting. The geography of gawadar sound almost similar to Mumbai. Except may be for population density. In such places, flooding due to rain has one huge unseen factor which is tide pattern of the sea. If suddenly huge amount of rain happens in short period during high tide the flooding is disproportionately high.

      @ravindramorey5433 Před 5 měsíci

Read my answer carefully. I had said Mumbai is almost like gawadar not mumbai is gawadar. Whenever any city is surrounded on 3 sides by sea, even more than average rainfall during high tide will cause flooding. And when all the drainage channel of qawadar are blocked by construction of port etc, the flooding is going to be worse. In India in all port cities, authority announce the high tide schedule with excessive rain beforehand though to predict rainfall with certainty is impossible. But then it is foolish to compare the two countries.

Precisely this is the reason why Sarhad Paar people worship Rivers, Trees, Mountains, Jungles. Every river is considered as Devi and worshipped (except Brahmaputra which is considered as Dev), plants and trees have so much significance in every festival/ritual. If you see tribals they worship and protect these natural resources to another level. They have ways to thank Mother Nature and it's firmly believed that she's a goddess. Any natural fury or a calamity is considered as wrath of that goddess or god. Based on what is available in their region, things change but essence is the same.

@user-rh5jp2sh4s : True river pollution is a problem and has multiple factors contributing to it. But even before when these were not in this condition, places like Gangotri from where Ganga originates used to be worshipped and till today they are. Similarly.every confluence has it's significance and not to forget Kumbh Mela. These rivers are termed as 'Prandayini' means someone who gives life so rivers and all such things are equivalent to God for us...
