- Applying for the Schengen Visa is a lengthy and confusing process (at least to me when I applied for the first time).
I was new to UK and had to google and watch YT videos to get a good understanding. Now having gone through the process a couple of times I thought I should share my experience and help more people. So here is a step by step video to help anyone in their visa application process. Hope it helps :)

Have one query - I am planning to Vist France for 4 days ( bookings are done) and then after a month planning visit Germany ( bookings are done). In the video ( Section Your Stay) at 2:55. How do i proceed here. Number of entries requested - Multilple. Number of stays planned in France for the coming year - 2? If yes, then where am i showing Germany.? or do i have mention it on cover letter?

Hi 👋 you are right, no of entries : multiple. No of stays planned in France:2, To show that you are going to Germany you will have to submit the document proofs during your appointment and add info in your cover letter. I highly recommend the cover letter in this situation. Look at my cover letter video for more info if you need help. I have a sample attached of n the description of the video. Hope it helps.

However for Germany I have only booked accommodation and showing the booking confirmation letter. Am thinking on what to do for Travel tickets for Germany. Should I show the Dummy tickets for Germany or should I book actual tickets. If dummy then which website should use. Are dummy tickets valid for VISA.

HI@@user-fx8qo5fq9e I would suggest 2 things and also tell my own experience. 1. Maybe just add in the cover letter that you are waiting to book the tickets as the costs are high right now etc but mentioned that you have secured accommodation. 2. Book tickets from Eurostar they have free cancellation, this will improve your case for multi entry visa.
I haven't booked tickets from dummy websites so not sure on that.
From my own experience we didn't provide the second trip bookings but surprisingly we still got a 6 months visa the first time we applied. Hopefully this is helpful.

Hi 👋 you would need to add a financial sponsorship letter written by your husband, that he will support you for travels.
Yes you will have to provide his bank statement and payslips too.

Hi 👋 I am getting this question from a lot of people. France has no slots at all. You could apply to different embassy to get schengen visa. Don’t wait for French embassy slots.

1. Regarding the bank, yes you must show some amount in your account. Each country has different requirements but to be safe keep 300 -500 euros per day. So if you are travelling for a week it would be good to show 7*400 euros or so. This is what we follow, but you can always showing more is always better.
2. Regarding accommodation, If you are staying with your friend then submit a letter from your friend who is hosting you.

There won’t be any issues as such but they recommend you submit the form only when you have got an appointment.
Sometimes the finding appointments take a lot of time and later you might wanna fill the form again and change dates etc. then you will have to create a new account as this account will have your passport number in use in a submitted yet active form.
It doesn't show UK in the list of countries for the country i am applying from.

I would suggest two options
1. Call the support centre and ask about this
2. Use your given name in the last name field too and explain that you don’t have a last name in the cover letter.

Yea travel booking is compulsory (flight,bus,train,ferry), also accommodation(hotel,hostel,airbnb).
For your spouse if she is not working:
- marriage certificate or a proof showing she is your wife
- sponsorship letter stating you will sponsor her trip
- your bank statements (keep enough balance for 2 people)
- your pay slips
- any other financial means

Hey- I know this been posted some time and hope you reply but needed some advice. So I’ve recently moved address and my payslip has my old address. Will this be an issue if my bank statement have the correct address? As I’ll be unable to change as I’m needing this very soon.
@@876LRx hi 👋 add the address related detail in cover letter as well saying that my pay slips have old address and my current address is on bank statements. You could also give a electricity bill proving your address align with bank address.
But a cover letter explaining this should be enough.

Hi! Could you try opening the website in a incognito browser mode. I have heard a lot of people complaining about dropdown issues like this. But they were able to select and go ahead later. I hope this helps.

Yes the travel support documents are only needed on the day of the appointment. I would highly recommend to at least keep some dates ready in your head as you would need to add date to enter the Schengen area in the application form
. Bookings should be for that date or after.

If you have no income and your parents will support you for the trip then you need to show their bank statement, and financial proofs , your relation to them and also produce a letter written by them saying they will support you financially for the trip, food, accommodation, travel etc

I got a question - while applying can we just buy travel insurance for only the first visit even though we intend to do multiple visits or do we need to buy travel insurance for a longer period to make sure we get visa extended for 6 months?

Regarding the insurance duration, what I have observed is that if you provide a longer insurance you have a higher chance of getting a long validity visa (6months- if applying for first time via France) else the visa validity is less (3months).
So my recommendation would be to at-least show 6 months worth insurance coverage.

But If you are only applying for a minor you must provide your visa status proofs, consents for the minor, and parents need to accompany the minor to the appointment in person. The whole process still remains the same with all proofs to be submitted during the appointment.

If you are not staying overnight and just visiting for the conference, then you can provide conference details, passes, tickets etc.
Add a cover letter and an itinerary (with time and conference location). It will help the visa officers understand that you will be there only during the day and leave afterwards.

Thai is a very commonly asked question as the answer is “it depends”.
Well according to the information online it says that you must apply to the embassy of your first port of entry or where you stay the longest.
But sometimes it’s difficult to follow that due to different itineraries, so you can apply to any Schengen country and make sure you visit that country in your itinerary. If you are planning to visit Spain, Portugal and France then you can apply at either embassies.

Hi 👋 If you apply for a Schengen visa from Poland you will get access to the whole Schengen area with that visa. So to answer your question, you don’t need to apply to each Schengen country individually. I recommend you to apply to the Schengen country you want to go to first and then use that visa to travel other countries inside the Schengen area. Hope this helps

The only difference would be your financial proofs i.e bank balance, your university letter/details (intent to return) i.e a recent letter from the school, college or university within the UK, that states the type of study, course etc. Hope this helps.

Hi! It’s a tricky one. It’s good if your travel plans are either
1. Dependent on your academic plan like for exchange program or for a course/ assignment etc.
2. Or travel plans are during your semester holidays so it seems good from the university’s end that you are travelling.
If you are travelling during semester, make sure you have a go ahead / approval letter from your teachers or professors. Include that in your Schengen Visa Application.

Hi! You can choose to apply from any Schengen country embassy. The success rate, fee and validity period offered differ from country to country. I choose to apply from France as they typically provide 6 months (multi entry) validity for the first time appliers. And 1 year, 2 years next time you apply.
Having said that a friend recently applied to Greece and got 6 months multi entry too. So feel free to apply from any country. Hope this helps!

If you plan to stay an equal amount of time in multiple Schengen countries, you should apply for a Schengen visa at the embassy or consulate of the country you plan to visit first, which will be your first point of entry into the Schengen Area. Hi! Yes you will have to create your application and your wife’s together. You could show your financials, just make sure you have enough money in the account.
When you fill your wives application there is a section that asks how will she pay for the trip, you can enter there saying you will be sponsoring her. Also you need to add a cover letter specifying that you are sponsoring her visit. Hope this makes sense. Let me know if you have any more questions.

Next payment is on the appointment day at the centre. We payed it on the appointments day at the counter to the person who collected our docs. Hope this help!

Hello 👋 I would say if you are travelling in July, you must apply now. Ideally the whole process appointment and stamping and passport return can take upto 14 days. So have a good buffer.
I always apply with 30 days buffer sometimes more.

You should get a insurance for entire Schengen area ideally for 1-6 months, that way you can get a multiple entry visa and can travel to any Schengen country even after your France trip. You will also get a longer term visa.
If you just want to go to France for three days, get a 1 month insurance for Schengen country instead.

hi! If you don't have pay slips, consider providing other strong evidence of your financial capability, such as:
1. Bank Statements: Submit recent bank statements showing a stable financial situation.
2. Sponsorship Letters: If someone is sponsoring your trip, include a sponsorship letter along with their financial documents.
3. Tax Returns: Presenting tax returns for the past years can demonstrate your financial stability.
You could also call up the customer support to ask more around this if they have any other solution. I would do that if I were you. Hope this helps.

That’s fine, so you are allowed to apply to an embassy if it’s your first port of entry or your longest stay. So don’t worry about that. You are covered as you will enter via France.

That is the document used to verify your identity.
Thank you I have written my first name and surname same as my passport but don’t write my surname at birth in my application when I was booking appointments tls didn’t allow me to ignore surname at birth then I wrote it down. Now I’m so sad because I didn’t wrote it in my application hope this will not be a problem?

Hi! Glad you found the video useful. The visa officers create files for each person so they will want copies for each file. So take three copies. We took one copy of the travel insurance and they made a copy there and charged us a small amount. I am sure the kid must be allowed to go in. Hope this helps!

Hi 👋 there is no rule around it. But we always got it a few days or a week before the appointment.
The Hotel and Accommodation details should be legit booked or you can just put some hotel name randomly from the destination
You should submit a legit booking, as you need to submit the booking details too. Use a free cancellation hotel booking if you aren’t sure about accommodation yet. Booking.com has many options.

Yes! You can print it in black and white. It should not create any issues as long as the information is clear and legible.

It's recommended to start the application process at least 2 to 3 months before your intended travel date. Processing time after your appointment will be between10-15 days. I would highly recommend the French embassy, but if you are only keen on visiting only Rome then you could try to the Italy embassy too.

Let me share my experience, for 3 day trip to Paris for the two of us (me and my husband) we showed 1000£.
The more you show the better, we try to show 1000£ for short trips of 3-4 days. Hope this helps.

Hi Deborah! Yes that’s right. We are using France embassy to get the Schengen visa. Once we get the visa, the first entry should be France (any city). You could start from France and go to Germany on the same trip as well. Or in your example, first trip to france back to UK and the second trip can be Germany. Hi Vinay! That’s a tricky situation to be in at the moment as there are no appointments available. A friend rang up the embassy and they said the that the demand is really high and that there are no slots with France embassy.

Step 1: Visa Application form filling
Step 2: Use FRA from Step 1 to create an appointment form in TLS
Step 3: Book and appointment slot
Step 4: Go to Step 1 application form and submit it.
You should still be able to create a form in TLS and book a slot with the FRA number I believe. I haven’t been in this situation before but I don’t think you will face any problems.

We have a seafarer who is going to be working onboard a vessel in Spain and we are trying to establish which type of visa to apply for.
For clarity - he will be flying from the UK and joining and departing the vessel via the mainland in Spain. This will be done either be port-call or by helicopter. The vessel itself will be working outside the 12 mile zone.
Our employee is a Nigerian national but has the right to live and work in the UK.
Can you advise if he will need to apply for a Schengen Transit visa for Seafarers or if he will be allowed to enter under the 90/180 ruling.

Also on the application it states - If you are not a national of the UK: proof that you are legally resident in that country (e.g. Biometric residence permit) and if applicable proof that you are in the process to renew it or proof that your residency permit has been extended:written confirmation from UKVI of your “immigration status” allowing you to stay beyond the date indicated on your BRP card. In the latter case, the applicant has to get a share code from UKVI in order for the Consulate of France to check the immigration status.

Hi 👋 The whole process can take 15-17 days (assuming you will fill a form in a day and get an appointment quickly). If you finish your appointment today you can expect the visa to be with you in 15 days. I have always received the visa within 10 days. And the validity of the visa depends on your application. But generally for France first time applicants get 6 months validity if the application is done properly.
But currently the France appointments are not reliable. So I would suggest start looking for appointments in June July Choose an appointment date in July /mid august. Let me know if you have more questions.

To be honest we also just took the front and back copies but the officer on the appointment day said he needed scans of all the pages. (As our passport had different stamps and other visas). He charged us extra at the centre for making copies of all the remaining pages.
So I would recommend taking scans of all the pages that have visas or stamps. Hope this helps!
@@thecouplenextdoor777 Thank you- it's a money making system at the VFS center and they contradict themselves as to what the website says. I took a photo copy of every page of the passport at home for my mrs and we went to the appointment in Birmingham. At the appointment, the lady said that next time do not photo copy every page etc etc. I think they play a scheme to make people pay extra for all of their services at the center. Anways, mrs got her Schengen visa yesterday after 2 week. :)

Very valid question. I would not suggest booking flights till you have your visa. I have quick video about booking refundable tickets and accommodation if you need help.
But to answer your question, if you are booking tickets use the same date while filling the form.
But if you are not able to book while filling the form use any date and after you have booked the flights add reasoning in a cover letter about change if travel dates. This will help to inform the visa officers about the difference in dates.

But in my opinion you should mention the name that is presently in the documents. You will be asked proof of that, which is probably in your current passport.
Reg the old last name, if you have any prior documents like educational certificate or marriage certificate with the previous last name show that.
