    Definition of pka that you told holds true only when ph of medium = pka of the observed drug!

  • @kkirankumar7479
    @kkirankumar7479 Před 4 lety +1

    According to KDT equation is
    pH =pka + log (ionized /unionized). Here it was looking different. Please explain

    • @cology9
      @cology9  Před 4 lety +2

      If you see the equation for simplifying purpose I have switched the sides. It would remain the same in sense.

    Sir plz one thing why ionised form do not cross plasma membrane.

    • @cology9
      @cology9  Před 4 lety

      because they are not lipid-soluble. Only lipid-soluble substances or substances with very less molecular weight (eg O2 ) pass through the plasma membranes.

  • @anishnisha7809
    @anishnisha7809 Před 4 lety

    Sir is the pka is constantly 3 for all weak acid and base ?

    • @cology9
      @cology9  Před 4 lety

      No. Pka is the pH where the drug is 50% ionised and 50% unionized.

    Can we interchange pH and pKa like that?
    Some text book showed other thing like pH= pKa + log (NI/I)
    PLEASE HELP SIR

    • @cology9
      @cology9  Před 4 lety +1

      Yes, it is just a way of expressing.
      If u change the sides, you will need to switch the numerator and denominator too.
      All the best.....
