Walking tour of Bern, the beautiful capital of Switzerland

- The old town of Bern is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and thanks to its 6 kilometres of arcades - the locals refer to them as 'Lauben' - boasts on of the longest weather-sheltered shopping promenades in Europe.
Set in the heart of Switzerland, Bern is the gateway to the Alps. The capital city may easily be reached by car or by air via the Bern-Belp Airport and bus links to the city centre. Visitors who prefer to travel by train may take advantage of the dense rail network with its direct connections to the major European cities. Bern’s central location makes it the perfect base for overnight accommodation and for excursions throughout Switzerland.

We filmed this video some days ago, in a beautiful, warm day and there was a bike event taking place in front of the Parliament. The whole city centre was bustling with energy! We hope you can feel the joyful atmosphere in the city and enjoy this walking tour as much as we did! Thank you all!

Rudolf von Tavel’s Bern. Immer noch die selbe wunderschoene Stadt, aber in Vielem doch ganz anders als vor Jahren als ich dort arbeitete. So leer habe ich die Lauben nie gesehen…. Auch scheint es, dass Bern immer noch eine angehende Baustelle ist, wie vor vielen Jahren. Habe das Muenster kaum ohne Staffelei gesehen. Sie haben mit diesem Video viele schoene Erinnerungen wach gerufen. Vielen Dank.

Da ich in Bern wohne, glaube ich aus Erfahrung zu wissen, dass dieser Film an einem sonntag Morgen aufgenommen wurde. Die Erklärung, dass die Lauben leer waren :-) Mit den ewigen Baustellen haben Sie Recht. Denke aber, dass dies in jeder Stadt, nicht nur in Bern so ist. Liebe Grüsse aus Bern.

Bern is not actually the capital of Switzerland, they don't actually have a capital, Bern is just where most of the government buildings are, but the rest are all around the country

Just sad for those 2 bears, at least build them a cave , a jungle gym to keep them entertained, that was only thing that ruined the city

The bears are kept in the bear pit for about an hour every day, while the animal keepers clean the park and distribute food. You can find more information here:
