Me too. The days when all I had to do was take care of myself only. Then the girls came and I had to grow up. One time we were talking and my one girl said well we know mama has never sat in jail. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm yes I did. Drunk as a skunk and 15 years old with the rest of the party animals. We were singing and still having a good time. Now one drink and I am out of it. Times have changed

She was an amazing and accomplished artist in her own right, and completely successful outside of anything to do with
Rick James. In fact, she produced a lot of HIS stuff, and not the other way around.

I am 64 and that song was a jam back in the day. I would ask the nearest girl near me at the club to dance with me when that song came on.( remember the dance the 'gigolo'?) Saw him in concert twice, one time Teena Marie surprised him on stage and then they got into the fire and desire song.
