Its actually sad that this is the happiest we ever see Viserys during the season , he really misses the times when they were young Targaryen brothers just living the life of 2 princes with no political bullshit

I think Viserys just guessing Daemon would be her favorite if she knew what he'd become. I kinda think Alyssa Targaryen is much like Arya. I think that's the reason why Daemon is obsessed with untraditional type of women. and Viserys thought she would favor Daemon bcs he's all she ever wanted. a gallant knight like their father, as chaotic as their mother, and very much untraditional with high value of their Valyrian customs.

@@patrickbateman305 - I always love when he has Paul Allen (Jared Leto’s character, not the co-founder of Microsoft) in his house, and says “You like Huey Lewis and the News?” Then bursts into a diatribe about their style, material consumerism, and the “pleasures of conformity” and what not while he’s doing the funny dance, and then chops him with that shiny chrome axe! Something about that is like comedic cinematic perfection to me. Whenever I hear Huey Lewis and the News I always say to someone around me “You like Huey Lewis and the News?” And start that funny dance which no one ever gets and just looks at me crazy. I read the book about ten years ago, and it was good but a lot different to me. Similar to the movie adaptation of Bret Easton Ellis’ “Less than Zero”, in the book Julian was in like two small parts, but in the movie he was practically the main character (Robert Downey Jr.). The book was way, way more depressing than the movie for that one too. It’s a fast read, and I just remember feeling so empty and depressed at the end. I guess growing up as a rich kid in Hollywood in the 80’s wasn’t as fun as you’d think.
Young Alicent and Rhaenyra deserved so much better - especially than being pitted against one another.

Baelon and Alyssa are my favorite Targaryen couple, Daemon is the perfect mixture of them both, viserys surely takes more after his grandfather. It's shame their parents didn't last long enough.

He was mother's favorite because he valued family above all else.
Bruh.. I love this scene. Viserys praised his mother and her love for his little brother and his admiration for her. Thus, why he stands by his decision to name Rhaenyra his heir. Also, their bond as brothers.

Overall I think the show made a bad call rushing the season and rushing to age everyone up to get to the War. I think HOTD would’ve benefited from the slow steady burn that GOT had. Hopefully next season won’t be as rushed into development and we get to see more of every character’s dynamics gradually play out instead of whiplash each episode.
It was not rushed, It covered each and every event of the reign of Viserys and all the build up to the Dance the same way the book did.

Daemon and Viserys dad, Baelon, actually took a stick and started going ham on balerions nose. And their mother was almost knighted for her skills with a sword, something very uncommon in women. So we could see how daemon was the favorite, and how Viserys sort of fell off into his studies abt old Valyria. Happy that the two brothers didn’t end up hating eachother. Their relation ship reminded me of Tyrion and Jamie. Jamie clearly the favorite of Tywin, still had a heart for his little brother. Daemon had always tried to look out for his brother but his violent actions pushed them away. I think if the third brother Aegon survived, the dance of the dragons would never have happened.
Viserys is my favorite character. For someone born from the second family of the throne, he ruled the kingdoms almost as well as his grandfather, who keep peace for 60 years.
When their mother Died, Daemon was 3 and Viserys was 7.
Unless she was prescient, all she "favored" in Daemon is how enthusiastically he sucked her bosom, or how well he strutted, or whatever babbling he could manage.
It's more likely Viserys's impression of "favoritism" stems from the post rationalising of a 7 years old being jealous of, and unable to understand, the attention his younger infant sibbling (rightfully) gets.
In my opinion, anyway.

Viserys knew that Daemon saw Rhaenyra as a tool to get to the iron throne. While Rhaenyra truly loved him. I think that’s why he was so against pairing them up.
Daemon is a middle age man who seduces a girl in her young teens because he wanted to be king, killed his wife and wanted his brother to be his puppet . Like he’s not the hero of this story he’s a warning about ambitious and calculating people
I can see why he was favored though. She took baby Daemon and flied away with her dragon... Eh, you can see where Daemon got it from😂

King Viserys was mad at Rhaneyra for turning down all the engagements and coming back home at that moment.
Realize Viserys was being so cold towards Raenera, because she had just returned weeks early from a tour of the seven kingdoms suitors looking for her hand in marriage. Vis had gone through much effort to arrange the tour while allowing his daughter to choose her husband (something extremely rare even for a queen). As he says later on to Rae "you are my political headache!"
Viserys only loved Rhaenyra by way of Aemma. He loved Aemma so much
