    This was a fantastic demonstration. I've had friends tell me over and over again that I'm wasting my time playing slots because "there's no skill to the game." What they don't realize is that while there might not be any skill to PLAYING the game (a game of chance), there is skill when it comes with CHOOSING the right game to play (games with better chances over others). And I owe a lot of that skill I've gained to watching your videos. Thanks, as always, Brantley!

    Great explanation! FYI I went to my local casino on 4/20 within 15 minutes of arriving I inadvertently played a Gold spin machine that I thought was a dollar denomination at 7 credits at the second or third spin I hit a 600 credit win then realized it was a $5dollar denomination that I never play and hit a $3000.00 jackpot! Lucky me lol then the next machine I played was a$1dollar denomination Diamond Jewel 2x3x4x and with in the third spin I hit it for $505.00! Came home with money 💰!!! When Marc explained to visualized a Hugh board with lights and each light had one possible combination. The lights just moved super fast and the touch of the spin button stopped the light. I used this method of how to play. If after so many non-winning spins, I stopped spinning took a few breaths and started again. The cards method really explained how many combinations there could be. Put that together and this helps understand how random number generator and volatility work together. Thanks.

    Great video - tangential question: When you hit one of those bonuses where you have to pick symbols until you match 3 and you get the corresponding prize, is that outcome predetermined? As in, lets say you get the "mini", were you going to get the mini no matter which picks you made?

      i read/heard somewhere recently, that if all those icons flip at the end and show you where the others were then the choice was completely yours... but, if you, lets say pick three and win what ever those three were, but the others dont flip and reveal their position, then it was pre determined. i have no idea how true that is and would love to know the real answer.. i just always assume it pre determined, as i always some how pick the mini xD

    This is the best slot machine video on youtube. Excellent visual and perfect symbolism in this explanation.
    I have the impression that the reel combinations are determined when the player presses play, based on numbers representing the programmed symbol combinations.
    Number 1 can represent diamond on all three reels without all three reels having to lock a symbol every single tap.
    It simplifies the RNG and makes it possible to run through thousands of number representations in split seconds, until the player presses play.
    I'm not sure if it happens that way, but it seems more logical to me. I guess you know that, but to make it simple in the video, pretend all three reels are shuffling numbers all the time.
    Number reps make it easy to program teasers into the game, as well as program payout percentages.
    It was perfect that you put the chosen cards back in the pile, so that no one is sitting there thinking that they have now been used, so it will be more difficult to hit the theoretical bonus again. All through a perfect explanation of RNG and how slots work.

    Mr Cowboy I have a question and I am unsure where to ask it:
    What’s the difference between playing a $10/bet on 1c denom and a $10/ bet on 1$ denom?
    Why would I ever do the same bet amount on a smaller denom? Wouldn’t the bonus on say huff and puff be better on a $1 denom?
    On these high volatility slots where I am just hoping to land a bonus and not really worried about line hits, what denom should I be playing? Always the highest one available?

Could the RNG be programed to cycle between 000 and 900 and only occasionally enter 900 thru 1000 were the big jackpot sets.

  • @thecrabbycrafter
    @thecrabbycrafter Před měsícem +1

    Hi Brantley. This was an awesome explanation for us visual learners. The first thing you said when you began was how can a slot be random yet still have a specific payback percentage. Would I be correct in thinking the slot reaches its theoretical RTP over the course of millions of spins, as a byproduct of the rule of large numbers?

    • @JayFaulkner
      @JayFaulkner Před měsícem +1

      I think about it this way:
      $1/spin slot machine has a top jackpot of $10,000. A payback percentage of 100% (this never happens) would still take your money a LOT of the time, because it has to (be weighted to) give at least 10,000 dead spins to pay for the one spin which will get $10,000.
      So basically, the more volatile the machine, the longer the horizon (with rule of large numbers) for that RTP to hit -- usually because it has incredibly high jackpots.

    • @thecrabbycrafter
      @thecrabbycrafter Před měsícem

      @@JayFaulkner I understand what you are saying. It's tough to visualize the RTP as being something that occurs over millions of spins. Like, it doesn't pay back 98% every 24 hours. Trying to comprehend the vastness of space or depth of the ocean is the same thing. It just is.

  • @davidwisniewski3751
    @davidwisniewski3751 Před měsícem +1

    Cowboy I am a huge fan and forever grateful to you and your videos. Thank you for all you do you not only helped me making me more knowledgeable as well as a better slot player too. Thanks to you I am a better slot player and choose better slots now than I use too. So I know not only for myself but many others you do a great service to so many of us and just want you to know I appreciate all you do. I will forever be in your debt and a subscriber to your videos watching and continuing to learn more every day. So again thank you. As for this video I completely understand all your saying but I come from computer programming and math background so I get it and understand it all. However my concern is that maybe you will get a lot of people thinking your telling them the slot machine is weighted down on the reels because back in the old days before programming they use to weigh them down with nickels and pennies on the reels. Not understanding you mean weighted by programming certain symbols to hit or not hit as much because you keep saying weighted so much and not expressing you mean it as for programming certain symbols or empty spaces to hit more than others. Like I said I completely understand what your saying but maybe explain that more or instead of saying weighted so much say programming instead. I hope this helps and hopefully I am wrong and people understand what you mean. Secondly on different not do you know if an Indian casino for instance I go to cherokee casino in Cherokee NC is a class II slots or bingo slots or class III slots like Vegas. If don't know can you tell me how I can search to find out or what to do to find out as all the Google searches I have done come up empty or maybe I am not putting in the correct information? Your help be appreciated. Also we have a brand new Hardrock casino opening up in July this year in Bristol Virginia right on the state line of Tennessee and Virginia line sure you heard of Bristol motor speedway race track lol. But in case your looking for a new casino to explore and if your ever up this way to check out the new casino let me know be great to meet you if you come. @Piggdaddy Před měsícem +1

    That explained RNG and volatility but not really the pay back percentage. So with the RNG being "weighted in favour of small wins losses disguised as wins ...or blank non wins. My question is how is the RTP percentage guaranteed over time even over 10 million spins it's only a theoretical probability right?

    I have a question about the payback percentage...you mentioned that slots may come with presets that you can change higher and lower...why would a casino ever change it to where they would give back more money? Like eliminating some of the blank cards. It seem from my own experience if I play a new game I haven't played before and others haven't even played very much I get fleeced, where as if I play a game I have played lots and have lost lots I get payed out on it... is there anything to that or is that a coincidence. Are progressive jackpots linked to all of the machines of the same game in the casino or same wall of games? For example, say there are 5 Quick Hit games on the same wall. Or say there are 25 Games of Quick Hits throughout the casino. Is only one of those machines programed to hit the Grand Jackpot?

    Does increasing the bet amount increase the chances of a win, or does it just increase the win amount?
    (I won a grand jackpot with 1c bet on dragon train, but this was a rare occurrence.)

    My mom years ago hit kind of back to back to back. She was playing triple lucky and hit red 7, triple, triple 3 times in an hour.

    Okay that explains a class III RNG slot machine. Now can you do one on the Bingo Server for a Class II machine. Does it have it's own type of rng or what. I don't think there are 75 little balls in the server,. I keep wanting to be able to tell as much as I can about the VGT machines. Appreciate any info.This was great post. Thanks

    The random number generator reminds me of the movie War Games where the WOPR is searching for the missile launch codes....

    Excellent video Because of the RNG the number of plays is a factor If you only have a 1000 games you can have a payout between 150% to 70% (something like that) But if you have a million games it will be closer to the 98% payout

    Guess im still in denial, because some of those semi newer slot machines such as kanomi china shores,myan cheif,lotus deluxe seems to go through " cycles' rather than rng's
