The characters are emotions (joy, sadness, fear, Anger, Disgust) that live in Headquarters that are the control center inside Riley's mind, where the emotions help advise her through everyday life and various struggles, etc... It's a really cute movie. My favorite character is Bing Bong, who is Riley's imaginary friend.
