  • Penn State handled Rutgers in week 4 of the 1993 season to remain unbeaten on the year. Despite the weather conditions which included a heavy downpour of rain at times, it was the passing game that thrived for the Lions. Junior quarterback Kerry Collins was as sharp as he'd be all year and Engram got a heavy dose of passes thrown his way. The running game was complimentary and the defense was once again opportunistic against the Scarlet Knights, holding them to only 7 points.
    Penn State's Top Performers:
Kerry Collins: 18-25, 223 yards, 4 TDs, Int.
Bobby Engram: 8 catches, 108 yards, TD
    Kyle Brady: 2 touchdown receptions
Penn State sits at 4-0 with the win, as Rutgers (2-1) suffered its first loss of the early season. The Scarlet Knights would finish 1993 with a 4-7 record as a member of the Big East Conference.

The last time time I watched this game, I was telling my dad his gore-tex didn't work and I was wet and freezing. I was 10, and this is another welcome addition to the catalog.

This game took place on the same day of George Brett announcing that he's gonna retire at the end of that season......fascinating.

Huh. All but two of Rutgers' offensive starters were from New Jersey. Interesting.....
