An engine out of time will not start, period. To do that kind of damage, the valves for a given cylinder need to be forced open when the piston is at or near top-dead-center. You then have a situation where there is no clearance in the combustion chamber for both these events to happen simultaneously. The piston makes contact with the valves, bending them. Since the guy is completely clueless about engine timing but still insisted doing the work himself, we can assume he had no idea of the diagnosis when it wouldn’t start. And since our guy wasn’t about to let a stealership charge a zillion dollars an hour to work on his car, we can assume he kept on cranking it for a full minute or more, hoping the problem would fix itself. When it still wouldn’t start he then probably removed the belt then reinstalled it, went from one bad timing to different one and cranked it again for a couple more minutes. That’s how you end up bending every single valve in your engine. Possibly damaged other components of the drivetrain such as cam lobes too. I’m not sure if it’s enough by to injure the top of the pistons too but that would also be a concern.

Great video thanks for sharing. Have done my fair share of suspensions over the years and when I bought my 2006 VZ Holden Commodore Ute the front suspension failed 3 days later. I took it back to the dealer who told me they’d have no problem fixing it so I asked if they could get rid of the lowering springs when they repaired the front and was told it would be at my expense. Long story short I did it myself and found the car was that low you could only just get a coke can under it. Rebuilt both the front and back suspension and was amazed the amount of fasteners loose or missing and how badly everything had been put together. I’ve had 45 years building and repairing cars and bikes and seeing some of the dodgy work I’ve seen still makes me shudder. Absolutely love your videos and work. Great job. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
I had a customer drive in complaining that her car smelled bad after it warmed up. Once on the hoist we found a traffic pylon jammed up between the catalytic converter and the floor pan.
As a woman, I resent this remark. As a newbie driver (19?) I got a couch cushion wedged under my car; it ripped my E-brake cable out and destroyed my differential (IIRC)........ That's how we found out the car was too rusty to pass inspection the next time it was due. As for bad smells; my first ever manual transmission had the clutch go about 3 years ago. THAT is a bad smell! Brakes wearing down/dragging and the "Subaru oil system of frustration" aren't pleasant either
A few years ago I lent my dad my motorcycle, a week or two later it smelled rank , I lifted the seat and he had bought some fish for his cats and forgot about it .

If you buy a used car take it for a pre purchase inspection. In my area about $150 tops. If there’s minor stuff wrong gives you leverage on negotiations. If something major you don’t get screwed. If the seller says you can’t walk away there’s a reason
The one where it was rusted out and the dealership said it wasn't sold like that, only after 2 months? Smh. Please people before buying a used car, have it looked over first and under.
Yeah, i know no one that does not know atleast one person that knows enough about cars to know what to look for. That rust did not happen in 2 months, more like 5 years. Here we don't see this kind of rust that much, as cars must pass inspection every 2 years, and a lot of sellers of used cars offer an inspection of the car prior to sale. Even if you know nothing, you could ask to have the car inspected at your own cost, this is cheap "insurance" against buying something bad. Inspection cost about $70 and they you have peace of mind, that the car has no serious structural issues, nor any problems with steering, brakes, suspension, exhaust system and so on.
Not even having someone else look at it, before you even book an oil inspection it should be basic and common knowledge to use your brain and check the frame, fluids, etc
Worked at a car audio shop. Customer came in asking us to look for a tracking device as an ex kept showing up to random places. Couldn't find anything in or under the car. I've seen all manner of objects found as the source of a " flat repair " come into the shop for assessment; toe nail clippers, spark plugs, bullets, tooth brushes, bolts... lots and LOTS of big freaking bolts, but never an entire brake caliper 🤣
In my 20 years in the Air Force, the most mind blowing object I had seen in a tire was a piece of 6ft long 1in diameter rebar that had been woven through the tire of a Conex picker like it was a piece of thread woven through fabric. It made 10 punctures in the tire with four exposed humps and both ends on the outside of the tire!

I worked in a custom mill and cabinet shop. We had a running prank involving us 2 lumber yards a couple contractors. We’d send new guys to get the board stretcher and one of us would send them to the next guy looking for it. Some would end up being gone half a day looking for it. We did have a couple that were smart and say we had a 2X10x14 but needed a 16. They’d just go to the lumber yard and charge a 16’ and bring it back to the shop.
At 0:45. Happened to me after a front hub bearing change on a Impala. They were absolutely tight when the job was finished but backed out over the course of a couple of months or so. After the fact I read on a forum that GM recommends new bolts every time. No doubt I could have avoided this by applying some thread lock adhesive. Now I know.
My son had some work done on his Camaro at a reputable shop up the street. They left the bolts out of the right front caliper or they just didn't tighten them and the fell out on the way to the house. I found a longer bolt in my stash so I could get the car back to the shop. They fixed it but didn't apologize or anything. We were done as customers after that.

My uncle was the parts manager at a dealership that I worked at as a teenager. We had a new kid in the mechanics shop that the foreman sent in to him for a set of spark plugs for a powerstroke truck. He went back grabbed a set of plugs for a car and sent him back, they ended up having that kid make 4 runs back and forth before the dealership manager saw him and asked why. He just laughed and told the kid diesels don't take spark plugs, lol. Luckily, I worked in the body shop and wasn't subject to those kinds of pranks.

Great job. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
AH yes, FNG shenanigans. First real job I had was on a printing press, the first week the guys sent me to get a bucket of white ink....lol
😂 love it
..... White ink is a real thing though... It is used when printing on dark paper.... Try a lefthanded screwdriver next time lol
@@nigelsmith7366 Kinda like the next new guy. He got sent to get a bucket of steam lol
Was it next to the paper stretcher?
We used to send the apprentices to the store and ask for a “long weight”
I had a customer drive in complaining that her car smelled bad after it warmed up. Once on the hoist we found a traffic pylon jammed up between the catalytic converter and the floor pan.
Oof. That could have been bad
@@rsqddogmom ypui misspelt represent 😉🤣
Confession, many moons ago, I taped a fish to someone's muffler.
A few years ago I lent my dad my motorcycle, a week or two later it smelled rank , I lifted the seat and he had bought some fish for his cats and forgot about it .
A lot of people have been asking where to submit clips so please only do so via the website at www.justrolledinyt.com
Just Rolled In also pay's to license clips and you will be contacted via e-mail with more information to properly license your clip and pay you.
Have a great upcoming weekend!
Good job neighbor screw those hillbillies and loud mufflers
@@kenj.8897 We prefer the term Appalachian American.
I mentioned your channel to a few guys in the shop...we do get some weird cars in!
The important part of that clip was there. That hurt laughing at it!!!
That is totally awesome the last clip
If you buy a used car take it for a pre purchase inspection. In my area about $150 tops. If there’s minor stuff wrong gives you leverage on negotiations. If something major you don’t get screwed. If the seller says you can’t walk away there’s a reason
The one where it was rusted out and the dealership said it wasn't sold like that, only after 2 months? Smh. Please people before buying a used car, have it looked over first and under.
And NEVER use the dealerships recommended shops. Take it to someone you know and trust!
Well… next step would be to the State Police to have them investigate all the recent inspections that dealership performed.
Not even having someone else look at it, before you even book an oil inspection it should be basic and common knowledge to use your brain and check the frame, fluids, etc
"Its quieter now."
*Cuts muffler*
"WHAT?"
"I SAID: ITS GONNA BE QUIETER NOW!"
Worked at a car audio shop. Customer came in asking us to look for a tracking device as an ex kept showing up to random places. Couldn't find anything in or under the car. A coworker decided to check the spare tire under the SUV and found a cheap GPS watch with the wristbands cut off. Guy said it had been happening for at least 6 months so she had to of had multiples so she could swap them out and recharge them.
yikes 😨
How were the coordinates being transmitted by a GPS watch?
@@horacerumpole6912 I guess it was some sort of runners watch with an App. So all the woman had to do was pull up the App on her phone and she could see where he was and where he had traveled.
Being stalked sounds so scary, I feel so bad for these people. I'd just start taking the bus everywhere or walking. Hell, get a bike. haha. But apparently that's a lot harder in the US than here.
I love that I get this and a daily dose of internet at the same time most of the time
Totally the same for me!
01:30 and this right here is why you ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS make sure you bring in a mechanic that isn't affiliated with the dealership
And the owner of that used dealership should be put behind bars for fraud. "The vehicle wasn't like that when they sold it" Really? Thick rust all over the under chassis overnight? lol
Ahh apprentices. How I love it when they fall for a prank that should be obvious. Going to the dentist after they knock my teeth out, not so much...
Not funny. This is how you create trust issues at best and violent resentment at worst..
I think i would probably have called out the fact that it was a prank then done it anyway. Looked like fun!
The real lesson is that he didn't pay any attention to the fellow with his fingers in his ears backing away.
@@ThaFuzzwood If you want something harmless, give the apprentice a bucket to get some pressurized air. High performance disk brake lubricant. Replacement bubbles for the level. Aluminium magnet to collect shavings in the workshop. You know, quiet obviously stupid stuff.
They will learn about their working environment, tools and materials, and can connect knew knowledge to those memorable prank moments. You just have to know the individual limits and maintain a positive atmosphere, so you can all have a good laugh together, not just at each other.
If anything they'll learn how to squeeze some fun out of an otherwise mundane working day. Being fun is a good social skill to have. Just because we always talk about apprentice pranks, doesn't mean they are the only target.
I bet the guy in the video was at least given a towel and beverage of choice afterwards.
More importantly: now he knows exactly what this piece of equipment does! He'll surely pass on the knowledge to the next generation, before handing them a towel as well. :D
@@fonesrphunny7242Will do boss, I get paid by the hour to look a fool, I'm out of the way, and everyone gets a good laugh. No downside.
Cam timing guy- not only did he NOT check his work, looks like he was gonna go on a test ride right away !!
"well if the belt fits, must be good!"
Probably heard some terrible noise from the engine but decided to rev it up to see if it'll go away.

1:20 Just a bit rust on the Surface - my god! 😂😂😂😂
Greetings from germany
Man the last clip.
THATS JUST CRUEL.
But I did love it.
🤣🤣 Gotta love apprentice pranks.. We had one trying to catch the sparks from the grinder in a box... "as we need to re-use them" 🤣 least the welding on the lift kit was to a satisfactory standard!! 🤣 Enjoy your weekend bud 👍
They’d just go to the lumber yard and charge a 16’ and bring it back to the shop.
admit it, you've been waiting for this to happen since the day you named the channel "This just rolled in" :D
2:43. now that's some of the coolest bling yet on this channel!
This is my favorite mechanical channel. You’re tone and voice are perfect.
Now that guy that did his own brake job saved A LOT of money !!!! OOPS!!!!
At 0:45. Happened to me after a front hub bearing change on a Impala. They were absolutely tight when the job was finished but backed out over the course of a couple of months or so. After the fact I read on a forum that GM recommends new bolts every time. No doubt I could have avoided this by applying some thread lock adhesive. Now I know.
That lift " kit " tho !
Dude ! Save some cousins for the rest of us !!
The last clip made me jump a bit. Thanks for the little wake up ☺️.
YESSS! We have two of those bead blasters at my shop. I have never thought of that one.
2:40 Gonna be a mini demolition derby when he gets in an accident
*** complains about how loud his exhaust is ***
*** removes his muffler ***
Neighbors- "That muffler is really loud- I'm gonna cut it off" Same folks who drilled a hole in their boat to let the water out.
Reckon the owner cut the muffler off himself to get engine started, but also make it louder to annoy the neighbour even more!
like a an episode from the Three Stooges
I liked the custom lift-kit. Human ingenuity at its finest.
Reputable 🤷♂️😏
My brother had a wheel come off of his truck. A stealership I had been a customer for 10 years at cracked a steel brake line. No one said a word, I found out the hard way at a round about.
i’m a porter for a mopar dealer, when they were showing me how to get the soapy water suddy in the big tub, they had me put it in wrong on purpose so that last clip happened at full blast. it was dumb but fun, i’ve gotten them back since then lol
That prank was amazing...startled half the office because I couldn't stifle the laugh quick enough.
Thank Heaven for closed captions. I couldn't make out what he was saying in that last segment even after listening to it four times. Now I know what a Cheetah Bead Seater is.
Cheater as in "Cheat" (short-cut), not Cheetah as in animal
My uncle was the parts manager at a dealership that I worked at as a teenager. We had a new kid in the mechanics shop that the foreman sent in to him for a set of spark plugs for a powerstroke truck. He went back grabbed a set of plugs for a car and sent him back, they ended up having that kid make 4 runs back and forth before the dealership manager saw him and asked why. He just laughed and told the kid diesels don't take spark plugs, lol. Luckily, I worked in the body shop and wasn't subject to those kinds of pranks.
0:35 i would be driving it around with no muffler till they paid for a new one lol
Very entertaining and fun to watch. Thanks for posting this.
You folks never disappoint, Bravo
You rock "Just Rolled In"! I love sitting down after a long day working on cars, cracking a beer, and laughing my arse off at your videos!
"I no like how loud you truck is!"

the first one gives new meaning to Just Rolled In.
That last clip is just dirty lmao
At least that’s all the bowling ball damaged
They are lucky!
every one of these videos just leaves me utterly speechless
3:23 made me jump!! Poor guy😂
Unfortunately the older technicians got me with that too
I'd say I got injured and file a workmans comp claim. Who's laughin now! Hahahaaa
The guy with the lifted truck...I wonder if he uses a leaf from a table to extend the bed? Lmao😆 ✌️
Haha, the last one was priceless. I think Ill try a few of those tomorrow...It Friday at the new job (and I got to see my car getting its PDI done too!)
Plus...theyre giving me all the NOS parts they dont need.

@@JustRolledIn Yeah...some bad news, but two good newses. Im working for Dodge now! I dont want to spoil some of it...but Im hanging in there. My back is holding!
the ex husband with the tracker glueing rust to it is kind of scary detailed
My mom once ran over a traffic cone on a windy day in a Ford E-350 Econoline van. she had to drive super slowly home and when she got there, our super nice neighbor helped remove it. Thankfully it just scratched up the oil pan. We sent him cookies later that day as a thanks.
What I love about your video's is the thumbnail is first up. Don't ever change
Thank you again for another wonderful video
Thank you for being here!
Never letdown and always amazed!!
3:20 - BOOM!!!
Wow! I never expected a bead seater to cause this big of a splash!
tbf a customer comming in because they actually noticed the tire ware and wanted it fixed is rare. i get most would ignore cause the cost to fix would be expensive sometime, but the fact a customer was like..hey this isnt right find out why and fix it.. is shocking
Yup, most of those types just wait until the tire blows, or the control arm falls off, 🤷♂️😏😆😬😖
The more surprising and concerning thing is that the 2 year old car had already failed to that point!
@@tomtheplummer7322 Showing my ignorance here, but... Would a broken control arm be extremely noticeable? I took my car in for some work yesterday and they told me the control arm was broken. He said, "Have you noticed a clunking noise (or something along those lines.) I told him I hadn't. Normally I'm pretty aware of my car and any issues. Try to learn and do what I can, but watched a YT video on it and....nope. Ain't doing that.
Control arm *bushing* or control arm itself? Fairly common for control arm bushings to give up the ghost which presents as a “clunk” most times but isn’t always blatantly obvious to all drivers in all conditions
I went to test drive a used car at a local dealer. Zero brakes and when I finally got it back the dealer said it was "fine" before I took it out. Lol! Nope.
How these bad dealers stay in business is just ridiculous. These days if the vehicle has a major problem and knowingly sell it you can get sued.
Then again they probably were trade Ins and right off the bat they park it on the lot ready to sell. Don't even bother to look it over.
i love this channel and these videos, thank you
Ah, a "bead seater" in the last clip is an air pressurized device that blows air into a tire quickly to seat a tire on a rim.
Thanks I had a hard time figuring out what he said
From what I've realized, I'm not the only one that the other workers tries to trick, lmao.
Just amazing what people bring in. Just unreal. 👍👍🇨🇦🙂
Love the bead seater prank, awesome. 😂
Had a shop "forget" to tighten the bolts on one of my brake calipers after a pad swap and it worked loose on the freeway. Luckily I was able to stop without damaging the wheel too much. I don't use that shop any more.
Neighbors putting spray foam in the muffler made my day, like WTH
The prank was amazing, I am LMAO now. 🤣
2:37 pretty sure the amount of cracking noises that vehicle makes with all models in the dashboard, is abnouscious :D
Customer states "The inside of the car gets wet when it's raining and the sunroof is open. Doesn't happen if the sunroof is closed." This was a REAL complaint at a dealership service desk. 🤔
I believe it. Mid 80s Ford Ranger in warranty. Customer concern: "Tailgate leaks." Yes, the customer actually expected to carry water in the bed of his pickup.
Lamborghini urus is the perfect car for people with no budget or taste.
Also, the absolute last thing I would ever consider trying to do myself is timing an expensive engine
That last clip had me rollin!
That rust glued to the tracker 👍
if the world had more candlepin bowling that car would have drove right over the ball instead.
Cheetah pranks in the shop never get old
You mean at the zoo?
Or do you mean CHEATER ?
As a new tire and lube tech I fell for the "bead blaster needs to be cleaned" because one guy told me the shop foreman would get mad if we didn't clean it 😂
Keeps getting better
>Neighbors were annoyed by loud exhaust
>Cut out the muffler
Something doesn't add up
well it could be so loud now as to fail inspection or warrant a noise ticket
owner probably cut the muffler so they could start it up rather than get a tow truck
Tracking your ex, how low can you go...
Crazy how often I've seen it lol
I don't even get the logic. It's your ex. You gave up. Why do you still care? Give up or stop lying to yourself.
@@mbob4337 Well no, he/she didn't gave up. That's the point.
Glad they found it. People willing to go so far are dangerous.

I like the bowling ball. 🤪
Someone threw a green coconut out of the car window on a highway near Rio de Janeiro that hit the front of the car I had been using (not mine) at 120 km/h (75 mph). That was a bang! 😂 I was lucky as I could fix the mount of the license plate with some screws and washers. 🤣
Hey that's not how you install a spare... Ba dum tish
😂
Guess the neighbors never graduated kindergarten. They don't know that cutting an exhaust off makes it even louder. What idiots. I would of left it and said, "this is what you get"

I bet in their part of the country, that's probably one of the first things they teach in kindergarten
