The Spectrum of the Seas is 347.1 meters long, 41.4 meters wide and has a gross-tonnage of 168,666 gt. She is the fourth vessel of the Quantum class.

WOW Do the Germans now how to build a cruise ship.Amazing video.After sailing on over 60 cruises its amazing the engineering that goes into one of these ships.I love the spectators watching the ship moving through the channels.Extremely well done.Unfortunately I do not know any German words.

Heyyy this is my Home Town. My Father worked on the Meyer Werft for nearly 45 years. 🎉
We have 3 of this class sitting off the East Coast of Australia as part of 12 cruise vessels that will not leave our waters. They have brought coronovirus to Australia and over a third of our total deaths and 25 percent of all of our cases have come from these floating disease carriers. When this is over the cruise business will never be the same because many countries will no longer permit ships carrying 5000 passengers to simply let these people disembark freely in a port without stricter quarantine and port health restrictions, if indeed cruise passengers will be allowed to disembark at all.
I wonder if anyone on the highway driving than saw a huge ship passing by and they be like freaking out saying "HOLY COW THERE A SHIP!?!"

Etwas spät, aber sehr schön! Ich erinnere mich noch an das ungemütliche Wetter. Und ihr habt bis in die Nacht durchgehalten, die Aufnahmen im Dunkeln sind aber auch klasse!
Vielen Dank! Ich hatte das Video eigentlich schon Anfang Mai fertig geschnitten. Dann kamen aber andere Projekte dazwischen, so dass es etwas in Vergessenheit geriet. Im Juli hatte ich dann auch noch Datenverlust bei zwei externen Festplatten. Die Wiederherstellung der Daten hat mich einen weiteren Monat zurück geworfen.
Why not build them so bow first goes down the river instead stern? Very strange MEYER WERFT of doing things
Stern first is better for two reasons:
- It is easier to maneuver the ship with the azipods backwards
- The azipods are pushing water under the hull, which will give them a little bit more clearance

How deep even are those rivers? They look barely wide enough for the bloody ship...
This river called Ems is 6,30 meters deep. Too low for the cruise ships. So whenever one is to be transported over the river into the sea they temporary dam it up to 8,50 meters and go at incoming tide which lifts the ship additionally.
so.... und nun veratet mir mal einer...was soll da bitteschön erholsamer urlaub sein, wenn tausende von menschen, auf so einer schwimmenden bettenburg sind, allein die geräuschkulisse muss enorm sein

I'm sorry if this is a repeat question. But, why is the ship going all that way backwards? Why was it not turned around before heading down these waterways? Any answer would be appreciated.

It's easier to maneuver the ship backwards through the narrow river. Also, the flotation depth is less because the Azipods are pushing water under the ship.

No, this ship from ultra quantum class is slightly smaller than some existing RCL ships. This ship currently is 16th largest.

These ships are a nightmare waiting to happen, there is no way to evacuate that many people in a disaster. Question how many passenger can this ship carry?
I just rode on the Ovation of the Seas in July 2019, which is only 3 years old. I'm assuming this ship is much the same.
Ovation carried almost 5,000 passengers, and almost another 3,500 workers. The amazing part is that the ship is so huge, we never felt crowded. It was a wonderful trip to Alaska
