  • Broken Tenere 700 side stand safety switch Now what! Here's the trick fix.
    The simplest of things can make a great day into one heck of a headache! nothing worse than being out in the bush only to strike your under carriage on the tenere 700 regardless what bash plate skid plate you have, you contact that fragile little side stand switch even with the little protector over it it no match for impact ! boom brake it and then you' re stranded ! a simple little wire tap or quick wire splice connector is all you need to get you going until you can get a proper fix!
    I dont recommend that you bypass your side stand switch cause thats still a safety feature but if you ever run into this type of trouble you'll know what to do to get your bike mobile again !

    Rob went offroading for 3 days on my Tracer 900, it was simply fantastic. Came back a bit bruised and extremely tired. Can believe the Tracer took the terrain with little issues

    Chk better skid plates too to avoid this problem altogether - In my opinion Thor skids pretty well...

    Hi Rob, thank you for your explanation. Maybe I'm getting old and stupid -:) but why do you need to cut the cable and use a wire slice connector if after a few rotations of the side stand you can turn on the engine again? Or do I miss something. Krgds Ray

    • @itsadyerthing
      @itsadyerthing  Před rokem

      They don't all brake the same. I lucked out on mine where it was spinning on itself where my buddies exploded into pieces.. eventually min no longer worked ether.
      Again you can splice and connect wires or use a connection like I made. Both work same way in the end..

    One of the first things I did was delete the side stand switch. It's still there, but tucked up inside the skid plate in the "stand up" position. I figure my 1000 lb Harley doesn't care if the kickstand is down...

      I've done the same repair on every Yamaha I have owned, as well as my Triumph 800 Tiger.
      And off road bikes seem to do just fine without them as well?

    • @itsadyerthing
      @itsadyerthing  Před 3 lety +1

      there are a few places that offer it or you can even make your own at a great price. you can check via aliexpress for a DIY kit. I found that to be best offered, just search for a 2 Pin Sumitomo Female Male Kit Auto Connector

    No self respecting T7 owner would ever just cut and join wires together. That type of hack is strictly reserved for the DR650 owners

    Don´t over do it. Unbolten it, reposition it, secure it.
    Then, if you want to put it back in its original postion before selling it, just bolt it back. No cutting or mutilation needed.
    I could make a video using 5000 words for no reason to explain it, but why?

    • @itsadyerthing
      @itsadyerthing  Před 3 lety +1

      It's not a tutorial on how to eliminate the switch. It's a how to get yourself going if your on the trail and it fails. If it failed then guarantee its broken and need to be replaced therefore it makes no difference whether you cut it. Thus for the 5000 words if explaining which wasn't enough to be Clear for some people 😁😁
      Thanks for your feedback
