"Ignore the monarchy"
That one Pink Rathian in MHS: **sweats nervously**
Advice: “Ignore Royal Monsters”
My brain: “Attack the Gammoth on sight.”
It's just basic human psychology no matter how old you get. Someone tells you not to do a thing? Your mind automatically defaults to "DO THE THING!"
That was me in pokemon sword and shield when the game told me to avoid onix
@@froggy_chair2691 hahaha grookey goes brrrrrr
@@froggy_chair2691 too be fair the onix was actually fairly easy to beat if one of your pokemon knew mudslap
That was me in Stories 1 with the pink lioleia, immediately attacked it on sight then got my ass beat badly🤣
Fighting the royal monsters is one of my favorite parts of the game. I’ve made it a personal goal to get every royal monster I find to retreat before progressing the story. While this might be pointless since you get them later, it gives me that monster hunter feeling of being challenged.
i dont think you can get gammoth later
it's also free late game monsters early on
Legitimate best "things to know before playing" video I have seen so far. It cannot be understated how much RPG-ers have anxiety hoarding with resources and it fantastic to have learned that bottle caps are farmable and that that low rank monster parts will be useless in high rank, so do not sleep on upgrading gear along the way to high rank. Quality content, cheers Cotton and crew.
That won't stop me from gathering my team of high rank endgame monsties and hunting the low rank ecosystems to extinction
I was saving them until I saw stable upgrades available. I should have known that gene slot unlocks wouldn't have been tied to a finite resource.
Old habits die hard ;w;
Not 100% useless, some weapons are only achievable in high rank by upgrading their low rank counterparts.
"Hi Pointcrow here do you have collectors anxiety?"
Also Pointcrow "YES I DO HAVE COLLECTORS ANXIETY!"
“Ignore royal monsters”
Me: attacks and kills monoblos immediately
It can be beat if u level up and upgrade your best armor to max level and use reduced damage charm it's just your party member who might get one hit kill
I wanna get a Monoblos so that Alwin isn't the only guy with a rad fucking dragon
Just bring a hunting horn with the sonic bomb song and he's not that hard lol.
Same. Didn’t/couldn’t get Tigrex at the time, but I could Monoblos. He had great genes (gold egg) so he’s been on my team since. I’m 3 areas later, I think? And he’s still regularly out in battle.
@@TheMuddyy2 Tried Tigrex, it went OK, until he got double moves when pissed lol. Will be going back for his ass after upgrading my gear in ice village.
"Delay farming"
*Has twenty hours in the demo*
Yeah I can do that.
This is a message coming from within the county jail. Duck are in fact not free…
This quacks me up bro
Did you forget your cotton certified free duck certificate?
Yea you didn't do it right let them go in the car 1st with some s3x smell stuff
Use repeatable side quests to lvl up lvl 1 monsters fast.
Yeah, the subquest system is really good as an XP catchup, or just for some extra cash especially early on.
I only turn in quests after I hatch or change monsters. Easy lvl 1-10 or so.
@@ZephWraen they are also good to get mosnter materials since some monster will only spawn if u have the quest
Just saving sub quests to turn in when you get a new monstie is pretty handy.
I spit my soda out when he said go get yourself a free duck...
That's great, but try water
I'm curious why the thumbnail said "don't ruin your save." Nothing in this video is anything that could "ruin" your save. Waste your time? Sure. But so far there doesn't seem to be any permanent consequences for anything you do. If you mess something up, you can fix it.
Ruining the save implies there's a system in place that if you do something wrong you can't go back and fix it without starting a new save.
Clickbaiting in a nutshell
There's a glitch in the demo that allows you to bring an Anjanath egg. Or you're not supposed to, which ruins your save when you try to transfer your demo to the actual game. It says that your save is corrupted
Turns out cotton is the hypnotoad... "must....get.......duck...."
all hail hypnotoad
All hail Hypno Cotton
I hear rabbits better.
6:43
"Hey guys, Pointcrow here, do you ever get Collector's Anxiety?"
Don't forget that with the royals you can use paintballs, careful partbreaking and the nesting skill to get a reasonably high retreat chance.
"slow down"
Meanwhile me fighting the end boss at level 25: oh, ok...
I just beat Oltura last night at level 45 and I had to do it at least 5 times 💀
@@captnjoong5554 his patern are kinda easy (and I may have GOD LAGI on my side... Seriously lagi with full thunder-strengh bingo is ridiculusly powerful)
@@red1246 Respect for winning the last phase race at such a low level :D
In my opinion it’s worth doing the royal monsters as it not only gives you access to insanely powerful monsties very early but also is good practice for teaching you better strategy
Gonna listen to the video but close my phone case! Magical way to avoid visual spoilers
He is a genius
You literally saved me didn't even think of doing that, thanks.
Last video was the same problem it says spoiler free but it's visually spoiling so much that even if you saw all the trailers still would spoil you in a big way like the layout of the map or cutscenes I like the guys of rage gaming but God damit they need to put something in the title like visual spoilers ahead or warning us about them at the beginning of the video
Exactly... like, he say no spoilers but is showing a bunch of stuff I don't want to see LMAO
Even if its going to be sorely outclassed, I'm using a Kulu-Ya-Ku until endgame, named after the chicken that I was raising that died about a month and a half ago.
Nugget will become legend!
I wanted to name mine Chanticleer but sadly the 10-character limit wouldn't let me, so I went with Foghorn instead. :(
Giving it the right genes should be fine. I've seen a couple of people put up great fights with jaggi's and even velocidromes
@@Swarkyishome To be fair, Velocidromes can deal a shocking amount of damage once they reach high level, had Avmar hit a crit for over 1k damage after I buffed it a bit with a few songs and a cheer.
@@Lunaraia avmar I think you meant ranmar
@@tommycriton9758 no, I mean Avamar the velocidrome belonging to your tutorial partner, in the postgame you can select which partner of all the story partners to travel with and she was with me at the time.
I found most of the Royal Monsters very manageable, even very early game. Tigrex's rock throw and two attacks while enraged are the only issue, and I still handled that with careful item use. Monoblos just requires a Hunting Horn or Sonic Bombs and judicious Double Attack use, and Gammoth is even easier - it only uses Power Attacks, so have a Speed Monstie with a cheap Speed move (and a backup of the same). Double Attack it relentlessly. When it uses Snow Slurp, stay alert. The next round that it does not target one of you with an attack line, mount up and do not use your Kinship Skill. If you use your Kinship Skill, it will just wait to use Snow Stomp until the next turn. If Snow Stomp hits you while you are mounted, you just get knocked off. The only way to lose a heart against Gammoth using this strategy is if you get knocked off and your monstie decides to use a Power or Technical attack with no Kinship, and you have nothing to switch to that can be ordered into a Speed attack.
8:50 I don't think we need to feel bad about releasing monsties via channelling even in the context of the game world. We still at minimum gave those monsters a headstart in life by keeping them past their most vulnerable infant stage. And since they never forget us, they're less likely to come into conflict with humans in the future.
Makes sense
Giving them a very helpful head-start in life-
And less chance of getting into fights with humans-
Just one more day everyone, hang in there.
I’m hanging by a thread. I need this game!
Waiting for midnight for this game is like waiting for new years
The game supposedly drops 9 PM PDT which is in about 11 hours
@@itsturniptime3699 ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) I hope so
Laughs in Australian.
As someone who wants to have a blind experience with this game (as far as the story and monsters go, since I'm getting the game tomorrow) THANK YOU!
I hope they have have more areas to explore or at least more monsters in future updates. End game was really good for mhst1 but I'd prefer it if it was more rewarding and longer for mhst2.
I don't know about ignoring the royal monsters because I still remember fighting the sleeping pink rathian and getting her egg it was extremely satisfying to kill a monster way higher than your level and getting its egg early on and crafting its armor
You forgot #11...
Through the Right of Channeling get an Aptonoth and make it an Elder Dragon slayer
No
Give them genes from the fated 4 and elder dragons
Kill Fatalis With High Rank Aptonoth
0:03 fluffy boi is just casually going through the village XD.
Another great piece of advice is to collect every gathering point you're close to, just so you don't have to in the future. That, and you collect faster when riding a monstie.
"delay farming"
Me with 70+ hours and still haven't beaten the story yet: 👁️👄👁️
Lol, 120 hours in and still haven't completed the story.
I have around 50 hours and just got my Rathos the ability to fly.
Dude. Mood I'm at 65 hours and I'm still farming xD
190 hours, I finally am beating the story.
Dude, this right here gave me more useful information than everything else I've seen. Knowing the later importance (or lack thereof) of materials is literally game changing.
Wait so there’s a stat difference from high rank monsties compared to low rank monsties? Not just the genes?
Yes, that was not straight up told in the first Game, but still better nonetheless
@@larsbohmer6319 on reddit people are telling me it's just the genes though. Like a lagombi with the same genes, but one is high rank and the other isn't, the high rank lagombi will be better?
@@lloyd2226 Well, most Genes are Small or Medium, but there are even L and XL Gene types and give extraordinary boosts which should not be overseen.
For example has an Aptonoth an XL Healing Gene
@@larsbohmer6319 yea, but genes can just be transfered. That's why I want to ignore genes for this matter cause if the genes are the problem then I can just grind. If it's something else that I can't grind for then the only option is to get one HR version of the monstie
If you use the glitch in demo to aquire a Anjanath, you will see in the ingame monsterpedia that anjanath has an absolutely huge stat difference from the low rank monsties. This was true in the first game as well. A Velocidrome can never measure up to something like, per say, a Tigrex. However, this also gives a fun ability to "Nuzlocke" the game if you feel like it isnt challenging enough :)
Just a few more hours. Can't wait.
Same
Lucky bastards :c
So close yet so far...
The announcement of this game made me dive through the 3ds game for the first time. I loved it. Somethings were a bit annoying to get used to, the RPG style combat... I loved the game. Believe it or not, a Popo carried me through 70% of my playthrough. It was Popo that helped me with Rathy at the end too. LOL Popo' defense was immense. Rathy couldnt even scratch it. In fact. I completed that battle in 4 turns with Popo. But that was something I found out about the game. It was too easy to missed quests, and monsties. I think I did not befriend like 5 monsties, but once I did, I almost never used them. Between Popo and Rathy, I had all my bases covered. And I never used any of my characters skills. Monstie skills, yeah, those I used. But there was not much of a challenge even at HR with those two Monsties. I did get Kirin and had a heck of a lot of fun with that one. As the first monster hunter game I completed. I love the monstie designs. I hope some of my favs are usable in the second game.
I mean c'mon. I know I am not the only one who wanted to tame a Banbaro, or a Mitzusune. But I got some favs in the 1st game. Popo and Rathy, obviously. Kirin, Nargacuga, and Yian Garuga.
I love all the weapon and armor designs. Reminds me the old school back when tigrix was the apex one could reach
Got my baby Tigrex on my third attempt. Pretty happy, it's all about managing his attacks and preventing them.
Just too bad Tiggy's not the best partner when it comes to cooperating because it insists on using stone toss every damn turn.
Sorry, there was no way I was progressing until I got me a Thunder Pupper. I'm glad to say it only took and hour
If you can force the early Royal monoblos back to its den it is by far one of the strongest monsters you can have all the way up through the deserts. And true to fighting any blos family monster it is a very predictable encounter. As long as you can tank the recoil from head-ons this fight is a breeze.
One tip I think that was missed with the bottle caps. Get those Nutrients to upgrade your rider's stats!
Good tips. I’m definitely the guy trying to grind snd power level whenever possible. Now I won’t waste time doing it.
Video: “Ignore Royal monsters”
Me, showing off my Monoblos Horns “🤷🏻♂️”
Oh my that sword and shield, I used to use that weapon all the time
Ah yes the best weapon in the first game
Indeed
Stories 2 hype train! 🚂
Choo choo. Come join the hype train! (I’m not sorry)
Can’t wait for the game! I know that Low Rank Monsties don’t have the best genes, but I want to make one of mine a Thunder god. My first rare egg is a Velocidrome, that I named Electro. No I’m not replacing him, he will become a god.
Also I wonder if anyone can guess why I named him Electro besides my goal of turning him into a Thunder god.
Thunder Dome? Idfk
Side quests, especially the basic Steak quest and Stone quest are especially good for getting free exp on your new members.
And with that Steak quest there is a trick to make an infinite exp farm even if it is only bit by bit. You can do the Larinoth Trial Quest for quick 26 Exp per battle but you also get Raw Meat, which can then be used to do the Steak Quest for even more Exp. (This also can be used to make money as well, considering the Zenny from completing the quests but also the Larinoth Hide)
Laughing at number 9 because I wouldnt progress story until every available quest at each town was done.
First thing I did was all the side quests I could access at the time on the quest bord lol
Cotton: dont poke the sleeping tigrex wholl rip off your face
Me: *holding a stick*
Right now I'm level 14 in the game, I found a Tigrex. I'm sure you can imagine how well that went.
@@adela6715 Probably along the line of *Stone Toss for twice your max HP*
@@Lunaraia Yup, but thankfully after one more level and a bit of preparation I managed to beat it. Actually, I had to beat it three times before it retreated, but the egg was worth it. Flash Bombs were real life-savers there.
@@adela6715 items are quite useful indeed.
@@adela6715 so, wait until you get the Flash Bomb recipe?
Less than a day left, let’s get hyped! Still just grinding up charms in the demo, I think I’ve put in around 18 hours so far lol
Very helpful tips! Can't wait to play this
just consistently looking over the map at every opportunity (which I always do) alleviates the whole "missing quest giving NPCs"
since they show on the map
I think my team would be:
Thor the Zinogre
Rachnera the Nerscylla
Frostbite the Zamtrios
Shade the Nargacuga
Dagger the Seregios
Razor the Glavenus
I'm on my 2nd playthrough of MHS2. I realize that at this point in the game on my first playthrough, I was generally higher level, but had much less knowledge. I was higher level because I was grinding in the demo for money and experience waiting for the game to release and I also remember that I used a glitch I learned about on CZcams before even leaving Hakolo.
With that all being said, I actually beat both of the royal monsters first try in Akala (forgot how it was spelled) and I don't think I did on my other save. Having info on the monsters really helps.
If the the Royal monster hit 1 of us, it would almost certainly take a heart. The best thing to do was to keep setting up double attacks to cancel the opponent's attack.
The Tigrex was more difficult than the Monoblas, mostly because it seemed to have attacks that could hit you even if you just double attacked as well as the fact that Rock Shooter is typeless, so you don't know who the target is and you can't cancel the attack without a Kinship Skill.
Monoblas was a bit dangerous for a few turns after it used ground dive because you can't do anything against it and you don't have access to somic bombs yet, but know I wonder if bomb barrels would have worked.
I did end up getting both eggs from them though, just by using a paintball when they started drooling.
As a personal challenge, I think I'll try to beat each royal before leaving the region.
Yeah, Royal Monsters... I remember the Pink Rathian on Stories 1, killed it and had her armor for most of the game because it just was so good
They fixed it in the second, you need material of more advanced areas to create them so... its balanced
I conpletly ignored that monoblos. Ok, I lied, it took a lot of farming buy I got it to retreat and hatched the egg 100% normal, but still broken stats for the early game :D
Royal monsters provide an awesome challenge with an excellent reward as the monster itself. Paintballing successfully nets a 55 percent chance to retreat and if you have any level of the ‘den defender’ skill on your armor, this will be higher. Every time i came across a new one and get pulverised at first, then level up a bit and take it on with a focused team and defeating it before leaving to the next zone was so satisfying
"Go Get Yourself A Free Duck"
Cotton Tiberius Maxiumus CrabBane, July 8th 2021, 1:45
Id like to add as well:
-Bring 1 diff abilities (Jump, Swim, Rock Breaker, Ivy Climb, Ground Dive) especially early to mid game in your party with also at least have Power, Speed and Tech so when entering an area you dont have to go back to stable and change monstie just to get that chest or mats
- As for mid to end, it will have Fly, Lava Dive and Stronger rocks breaker? (Something like that? Its that time i guess to swap
Oh man, can't wait for MHS2 Pro and Noob! Will Josh be holding the controller, or will Cotton?
In about half an hour at level 15 I got 2 Tigrex :)) been very helpful
A reason why you SHOULD fight royal monsters is because if you can get them to retreat then you can get good monsters in your party
not beaten story yet but I always do rare dens as soon as I see one and ignore regular dens
Got lucky with the royal monsters. Got tigrex and zinogre waaaay earlier than I should have and I love them lol
Bro that last 20 sec bar......had me subscribed 🍻.
Great info video.
Advice: "slows down"
Me who has been flying or running around on monsties for a few hours just to enjoy the view: you are welcome 👍
Glad I listened to this. Not only did you expand my understanding of the game but you clued me in that at least one of you has changed their terrible songs to something fresher.
0:47 lmfao *me switching to another tab because I haven't even seen black diablos yet*
The main series has trained me to understand that High Rank exists and will quickly render everything in low rank obsolete. Sometimes there's even a third rank to do it all again!
Meanwhile, you even point out yourself that sidequests are ubiquitous in the genre and this is actually on a LOWER scale; usually the absolute best equipment and such is locked behind a long chain of them!
This is the most honest and genuine video ever! Love it!
Thanks for this! Eagerly counting down the hours.
the only royal that I regret fighting is Tigrex, 1 is because at that time my level is not that high, and 2 is I didnt know the double attack mechanic, plus the extra turn mechanic of some monsters like Tigrex
I know this video is 8 months old but just in case a new body picks this game up like I did. the royal monsters are well worth the farm monoblos is doable at 15 and you can farm his ass fast and get to 20 fairly quickly and at that point tigrex becomes more than doable and both being farmable is great for both gear and parts and monstie eggs. Word of advice on tigrex he switches to the rock move alot so when you have him make sure to give him another move over that one so he can stay more focused on his speed cause that shit will kill you when you need his ass hitting speed for the double attacks.
point 10 is the most important especially in our times, enjoy and slow down, thats the purpose of a game, enjoying
Cant wait to see cottens reaction to durambaros
"it is very easy to ignore the Quest Board for half an hour" ye... totally forgot the Questboard from the 4th to the 6th Hub and had like 50 quests to do xD
Not bad but I am playing it now and I can say this. Royals are usually worth getting an egg from and paintballs make the retreat chance about a coin flip if you destroy the parts (this will naturally happen if you win).
The second is bottle caps for equipment are usually not worth it since a fully upgraded set or weapon will be better after the second area. The items and recipes are more than worth it but the equipment you get is only good for maybe half of the area before becoming obsolete since you can’t upgrade it until you go to the next area.
cotton: dont do the monarchy
im pretty sure almost everyone: im gonna pretend i didnt c that
I get the don't fight royal monsters till you're ready thing on others, Same can't be said for white monoblos and zinogre, zinogre is pretty predictable and white monoblos you have access to sonic bombs anyways.
Prayer Pot. Always 100% active. I even go back to town if necessary to reactivate it. Any bonus is essential.
I’ve been trying to limit my tips and tricks for this game so I can figure stuff out on my own but I’ve figured out a cool tip regarding ROYAL MONSTERS.
As I racked my brain on how to get a Tigrex early in the game, I figured I needed to defeat him first. I did it and the eggs never popped up. So I’m just barely in the Kuan village and realized “Paintballs!” Just before you defeat the Tigrex, hit it with a paintball. It will retreat and you can then grab it’s egg early. If you use the prayer pot first you can get a gold glow Tigrex at least. It worked for me.
“Ignore royal monsters”
Me: SLAY THE ZINOGRE!
I liked your enthusiasm for going and obtaining ducks! A fellow man of culture I see. I shall have to watch more of your videos.
"Delay farming"
Me, who has fed six Nargacugas to my Jaggi for max level Tail Slam and Sharpen Blades: "Huh?"
I don't regret it though, being able to do this early on is incredibly fun and part of the game's appeal for me.
Please do not attempt to aquire a free duck as duck are out for blood and will not hesitate to rock your shiz
I got a number 11 for you. hatch your monsties before turning in quests. What's better then getting the monstie you want, then leveling it up to usable levels right away just based on turning quests in!
unless the quest you have to turn in is "bring me this egg"...
Didn't think that Cottaylia would be part bunny
I got most of the royal monster in 1 battle though. Just throw paintball. :o Of course to fight it, you will need certain strats, but that's the fun part is! Figuring out how to defeat the overleveled monsters.
great list, thanks mate
Number 4... yeah about that I'm still rocking monobolas and tigrex I got as royal
I still hope when rise M rank happens monoblos comes back I miss my one horned styracosaur wonder
cotton: slow down and enjoy the ride.
meanwhile josh: most efficient fastest way to progress into endgame!!1!1!!
Fellow Hunters I must ask for advice. Should I buy the collectors edition or just buy the game and the dlc. I do not care for amiibo and if I want the pin or stickers I can just have them made for like $2-$5. What ever is cheaper.
I-i-i.. i must.... Must defeat.....fatalis..
The thumbnail was warning of ruining a save… what was meant by that? Or was that mislabeled
*meanwhile me who's already finished the game*
It was still worth watching-
Thanks for the tip, I definitely want to explore and expand the monstie roster by making cool builds :3
I got a red khezu first try no warmup and im proud
I bought this day one but I'm going back k in right now on a fresh save file. I've been playing rise again too and considering going back to world on my PS5 . Playing granblue fantasy relink is amazing I love it but it's so similar in many ways to MH that. It's got me craving a bit of monster hunter
