Rashid’s fighting style in V was literally free running or some people called it Parkour so the running stuff and animations with him make sense. Plus with him being wind, he is literally going to be a problem and his movements is like they had the time to catch the element of wind and the meaning.
I do recognize that Ian does a good job, but part of me still wishes they recast the role with a more ethnically-accurate VA like they did for Chun-Li.
My guess regarding how they made the cloths work better than SF5 is that they probably used a similar method to Answer's scarf in Guilty Gear Xrd. Answer's scarf is also physics-based, but the movement is "restricted" by certain factors like the inputs of the player and whether he is jumping or not, thus preventing clipping and giving it a more cohesive flow.
I just... with how Rashid's outfit moves, I wanna see what they do to Makoto's gi, since she always had some wild animations in 3. Hopefully she shows up in season 2...

I almost wonder with Ed if Capcom is going to go the "Baby's First Modern Character" type idea. Where using how Ed played prior being kind of close to what Modern controls are. Learning Ed even in Classic controls will ease players into trying and or understanding Modern controls overall, even for characters they prefer to play with. This could then shift into where playing Ed in Modern compared to Classic is the closest out of all the characters.
Now I'm thinking the reason some characters are not in the base roster is they needed more time for the absolutely ridiculous animations. They are cooking something fierce.
I'm so excited to see what they do with Ed. I didn't play him in 5, cus i didn't like the way they did his inputs. But in a game where Modern exists, i can't imagine they'll give him the same gimmick. So i cannot wait to see what they do with his playstyle. I really hope he becomes a Stance Character. Dictator could allow for more mid-range, Psycho Power based options, with Boxer being for putting close range pressure on. I'd love to play him if they did something like that

I remember when Batman Arkham Asylum came out and one of the biggest technical feats was keeping Batman's cape from clipping into his model, this is that but like 10 steps beyond. Some of the most impressive animation I've ever seen on 3D videogame models.
What I really want to know is if we'll be able to go into training mode with DLC characters, rental ticket or not. That'll be very important to be able to lab against the character.
Ed was the pilot for Modern controls... I'm not the first person to notice this, it just came back to me since you mention him. Like.. damn they were really prototyping SF6 stuff in SF5 years ago.
My first thought after watching the Rashid trailer was I hope there’s 7 seasons of DLC for SF6. I want to see every character possible in this games fighting engine, fantastic.

Just to pre baked physics in Maya etc and then bake them as stored vertex locations. You can stream them in, we did something similar in the PS3 days with clothing. Each anim is pre-canned, so you can stream in the vertex data from memory given how much storage they have these days

I'm so ridiculously happy that he actually went in detail on the amazing animations he has. They deserve all this praise because holy moly he looks so good like ridiculous. Hell if this keeps up re-engine my end up becoming something they can use for other games and sell it like with the unreal engine 😋
I’m very curious about Ed as well. I wonder would he be more boxer focus, some kind of shoto-boxer with hood rushdown or something
I loved the ending where he jumps over the air to flex his clothes and the game physics. I can’t believe they’ve put so much effort into him
YES! I'VE NEVER BEEN MORE EXCITED FOR MAX REACTION 😂
I too am an animation freak. Gotta appreciate the work the developers do here
I noticed the physics on the clothing too, they're definitely stepping it up on the animation.
I remember when Batman Arkham Asylum came out and one of the biggest technical feats was keeping Batman's cape from clipping into his model, this is that but like 10 steps beyond. Some of the most impressive animation I've ever seen on 3D videogame models.
Seeing how good Rashid is, I am SUPER excited for Akuma, and I am REALLY praying for Dudley to being in the game
He has one of the best designs in the entire roster of SF6 and I stand by that. I like how he turns into a genie during his level 3.
The character design in this game. Is just a masterpiece.👌🏾
My first thought after watching the Rashid trailer was I hope there’s 7 seasons of DLC for SF6. I want to see every character possible in this games fighting engine, fantastic.
The way he moves and spins around reminds me of traditional iranian and sufi whirling dances.
i love how rashid does a fuck ton of insane looking flips and then just says "easily as pie"
Offense is easier to power creep than Defense. Rashid looks like he will force SF6 to be a lot faster and I’m excited to see him on release. I wonder if another DLC will match or surpass Rashid’s fast pace
Rashid basically has old school kim kapwan level pants animations
Animations are so good it took me back to the weapon display clips in Soul Caliber on the Dreamcast, blew me away : D
Love Max going on about the physics of his clothes and how hard that is to do and then Rashid comes in and literally says "It's easy as pie!"
Wait, did Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat seriously release character trailers around the same time?
4:46 I'm almost certain that Rashid would be proud of the unintentional pun that is "I'm blown away".
06:19
Max: That is not easy to do
Rashid: it's easy as pie
Yep ...this trailer is impressive..Rashid was never one of my favorites but the physics mechanics is definitely next Gen .
If Rashid, of the turbulent wind was overpowered in Street Fighter 5 imagine the dangerous combo moves he can do in Street Fighter 6 he'll make Dee Jay look like a rookie.
As Max's reaction is a testament to what I'm talking about.
Just to pre baked physics in Maya etc and then bake them as stored vertex locations. You can stream them in, we did something similar in the PS3 days with clothing. Each anim is pre-canned, so you can stream in the vertex data from memory given how much storage they have these days
You can use shortcut keys to adjust the playback speed. ( shift + < & > )
