I am installing a new torque amplifier today in an IH 1066. Along the way I install a new PTO driver gear and seal kit, a new engine clutch and engine seal...Sancho also stops by to say hello.
The Green antifreeze is a good sign that the coolant does not have DCA ( Diesel Coolant Additive ) or SCA (Sodium CoolANT Additive) which is need to combat cavitation and corrosion of the wet cylinder sleeves and or orings. Most green coolant does not include DCA or SCA additives but red, pink or yellowish coolant usually does.. Usually truck shops or some fleet supply stores offer heavy duty diesel coolant . Look for with DCA or with SCA on the label or use the New Extended Life Nitrite Free coolant which is usually yellow in color.. Faithfully changing the coolant filter is also acceptable using green antifreeze but in a tractor like this 1066 the coolant filter was most likely maintained as well as the rest of the tractor.
I think the stamping marks on that ta you took out would tell when it was rebuilt. I could show it to the guy that did it. Prolly on the outside of clutch pack carrier housings if i remember right.
Love it. Just like we have to work in our shop. I will say we did finally buy a TA handler and rear stand from charlies repair. A bit pricey and yet another thing to walk around when not in use however makes your life soooo much easier
Long video but well worth the watch. You make it seem easy which I know it is not. A 1066 Black Stripe is one of the best. Would like to know why not green anti-freeze and what to use instead. Thanks for the videos.

Good job on the videos. I have a 1066 that needs to have the TA replaced. I just finished replacing the TA in a 1586.

Just did a IPTO shaft on my 1466, the seal I put in had to be bottomed out in order to be .68”. So maybe the new shafts are updated??
does that apply to all wet sleeve engines?
What kind of antifreeze do you run
