All the things you need to know and hope you never need it! It just shows how well you prepared yourselves and your crew - when this video starts I was thinking about the air hostess trying to get your attention after boarding a plane - every time I think “not again”... but hey: “repetition is the mother of skills” thank you for this practical and useful “safety list”!

Number one rule on my boat Thistle Doo is that "nobody may fall overboard without first gaining the official permission of the skipper - that is me!". Sadly, there have been two journeys where I might've actually granted that permission (noisy, know-it-alls who know nothing).
I also have Mob1 devices but I'm not bothered so much with them because I sail so much single-handed. Sailing single-handed sure makes you think of how you go about things, like taking notice of forecasts and conditions, because falling overboard when single-handing pretty much guarantees death.
But one over-riding thing remains clear - "NO SAFETY DEVICE ASSURES THAT YOU MUST BE SAFE" - only people, good common sense and the application of sound technique - and good fortune, can assure that.
Something you didn't go into, and I realise that this is only an into into how you go about things yourself, but these devices are often subject to certification standards and rules and these change from country to country so it pays to check out the situation where you are going, not just where you are. An example, even when single-handing, in the US you need floating cushions that you can throw to people in the water. No cushions then big fine..Imagine that, being overboard with nobody to throw you these cushions but then being fined for not having them - if you survive. Also those life jackets have a tablet that dissolves when wet, so setting off the jacket automatically. You need those as well as a refill cylinder when resetting a life jacket.
Also nothing about flares - or the advantage of having a handheld vhf on board.
Not trying to be destructive or negative here (I like your channel and your adventures a lot), but there are many sites where people who know the regulations put information about the requirements for safety equipment and expiry dates. Maybe it's an area where you should provide links to some of these places.
ps. about that crutch strap on the life jackets, I think you missed or over-simplified the real reason. When trying to recover someone who has fallen overboard, about the most common place people grab hold of to haul someone aboard is the life jacket - hands are not good enough. Sadly there have been instances where people on board have grabbed that jacket and pulled - and that poor person has just slipped right out of it and been lost. It doesn't just ride up without that strap, it might be just pulled off.

Ahhh first thing we instruct everyone taking a step the boat: one hand for you and one for the boat & if we sail dont go were you dont have clearance from the captain😅 the mob beacon is also quite helpfull for single handed just in case you fall there might be another shii picking up the signal😆 but better not fall😅 wow - did not know about the US laws, we have some inflatable cushions for sunbathing?😂 Agree on the flares, we have so many on board now! Handheld VHF is handy but out there it is mostly to short in range we found...

Heheh yea it took her a while😅 Thanks Richard🙏 The liferaft and danbuoy especcialy for offshore sailing, all ISO certified, the rest we only upgraded a little for the crossing, the lifejacket we would buy new, Gretas father has one ultralight one and you can really wear it forever:)
