Absolute Classic Cars. 1971 MGB Roadster, wonderful British Classic, Flame Red, Wires - A Beauty!

Dispatched on the 28th August 1970 and then registered in Walton-on-Thames, to Mr Fredrick Willison in April 1971, we're delighted to offer this RHD Home Market MGB Roadster, confirmed by her accompanying British Motoring Heritage Certificate. Finished in her original Flame Red, black Ambla interior, black hood, 14" wire wheels, optional Overdrive and full size tonneau all as per build, this cherished example car has had just 5 former keepers.
The comprehensive history file, containing the original Buff Logbook confirms the car comes with her original registration, invoices for £0000's dating back to the mid 80's, Owners Manual, parts / service manuals, brochures etc and a raft of MOTs, covering the last 40yrs....the car having driven just 10k miles in the last 20 years, now showing 93,600 miles.
Previously subject to restoration this MGB Roadster remains in very good condition indeed, the Flame Red paintwork polishes to a great shine with super lines, the chrome work's strong, lens etc all remain bright. As per her original specification she looks great on her 14" wire wheels, fully refurbished by our specialist (fitted with Goodyear Grand Prix tyres with 5mm tread) and although the top looks great while up and in near new condition (evidence that the roof frame has been recently powder-coated too), we have to say she looks even better with the top tucked away and the tonneau (full length & new in 2020) in place, showing her classic MG lines.
The wonderful feel extends to the interior too. Open the door and you're meet a classic, yet sporty, wood rimmed 3 spoked steering wheel, the black seats look great and remain comfy and supportive out on the road, carpets are good with the carpet set being extended to boot area too, including the spare wheel cover. The eagle eyed will have spotted what looks like a classic AM/FM radio.....this is actually a modern retro/classic DAB item, a single speaker behind the original grill, meaning that the interior retains that all important original feel.
Mechanically the Roadster remains in fine fettle. The ‘B’ engine sounds great, previously converted to unleaded. With a little choke when cold she starts readily, the upgraded Accuspark ignition a bonus, gear selection is tight and precise and she drives really nicely, rafts of invoices testament to a nicely cherished classic. She's currently MOT'd through to Apr 2025, but needless to say we'll still be doing all our checks, she'll be serviced and offered for MOT again.....peace-of-mind and allowing the new owner to enjoy her from day one.
With the very best examples now commanding £25k+ and poorly maintained / restoration cases being cost prohibitive to restore, finding a a strong chrome bumper MGB Roadster isn't as straight forward as one might think.
