Anyone said that Awakened Orochi was gonna be lazy apparently just DID NOT remember that Orochi versions of CYS had WHOLE NEW MOVES. The lazy things about them were their outfits being alt colors instead of a different look (which they now have here.)

Yeah they were never literal clones. They're not just Base Yashiro with earth powers/ base Shermie with lightning powers / Base Chris with Fire Powers. Their move sets change.

They also need to add in Orochi Leona and Iori, they're too iconic to ignore, imagine them jumping all over the place with twice the speed in this engine, just amazing.

But weirdly enought we havent got a geese raid boss yet, or an orochi team boss raid.

One of the things I loved about KOF 97 was the fact SNK made the Orochi versions of CYS the anti-Kyo Team as opposed to buffed versions of themselves like with Iori and Leona. I definitely prefer the Orochi movesets more than the original, and I definitely like O. Yashiro and O. Shermie more than Daimon and Benimaru. O. Chris and Kyo were tougher to decide.
Anyways, ever since CYS was introduced, I was waiting for their Orochi versions to return as well, as you really can't have one version without the other.
Orochi Yashiro and Orochi Shermie definitely feel more modern compared with their inspirations, like Yashiro is such a beast that you could actually not realize he's suppose to be an Evil Daimon until you get the references with Shermie and Chris, he's such a wild and aggresive take on a grappler.
@@troykv96 Yeah, of the three, O. Yashiro is the least obvious as the anti-Daimon of the team even with his DM. He absolutely looks brutal compared to other grapplers. O. Chris was the most blatantly obvious as the anti-Kyo of the team considering he also has the DP used by Kyo and Iori along with the Orochinagi DM.
Man I remember them. Yashiro turned into a straight up beast grappler,Chris a madman mixup and shermie a monster of a zoner. Glad there back.

Yea the Orochi versions of CYS were always completely different characters moveset wise (and even personality wise in Shermie’s case). They actually mimic Team Japan in terms of moveset. O. Chris=Kyo, O. Yashiro=Goro, O. Shermie=Benimaru.
O. Yashiro is easily one of the most UNGA grapplers I've ever seen.

At face value a lot of people would think they're clones, in the 2D games you'd only tell them apart due to the neutral stance and special moves, while costumes were the same with different colors and the basic buttons were the same. It doesn't take long to see both versions have always been different even when they were introduced in 97, in fact the extra changes they've done here seem great, I like what they did it sets them apart some more.
Too bad I can't buy the DLC right now.

Yeah they were always extremely different characters ever since inception in 97, it's just that they most used the base sprites.

It's a shame this even needs to be specified that they aren't clone characters. I get there are many new fans who hadn't touched a KoF game before but I'm suprised people felt we were paying for copies in just different clothing.

Yes. They were dark mirrors of the hero team.
Yep, they even shared one super each. Shermie blatantly said 'Ankoku Raiko ken', even.
That was the original idea behind their concept, but in the end it was the sacred treasures team who defeated them, since Beni and Goro are not canonically strong enough to fight against them.

KoF 97 and 98 kinda had EX characters, for example you hold start on Kyo and you get the 94/95 version, same with Terry/Ryo/Robert and others iirc
I haven't gotten to play them yet due to the dlc being expensive and me currently waiting to get paid, but from everything I see they are absolutely insane, I'd definitely enjoy using Chris and Yashiro I feel

I remember that special move of orochi yahshiro in kof 2002 called armageddon, (i think it was named like that) and that special move was so powerfull and broken just like the galactica phantom of ralf in kof 2002, so many memories came back in my mind playing arcade or where im from we called “maquinitas”:’)

I really enjoy playing as the Awakened forms of CYS particularly Orochi Chris he's really fun to play since he drops his rushdown style in favor of an all rounder with more damage hence making 3B (slide normal) more threatning.
Also O.Shermie's air special can be TK'd to give a great frame advantage.

Only problem I ever had with the Orochi versions was... Yashiro's grabs are Metal Gear Solid levels of long, like, yeah, they're satisfying but they go on forever.

Best part about Team Awakened Orochi: Orochi Chris vs Chris in story mode, he legit has commentary to himself. "This tournament thing is dumb. Me vs. me. Let's go!" That's exactly the kind of self-aware humor I want from a game franchise that has countless entries and nothing left to prove to be loved, and still proves it should be.

i understand why everybody was so mad to see ClOnE cHaRaCtErS bc at first blush they share a lot with their base counterparts but they're like. extremely fun and offer wildly different gameplay so i don't give a hoot. besides that, they came with brand new costumes, three and a half new songs, neo geo pocket music for if you're insane, and THE ANNOUNCEMENT OF SAMSHO ROLLBACK AND KOF CROSSPLAY so i can forgive them for having the same jumping light kicks or whatever

The thing is Orochi is a very special dragon in Asian Lore it would be disappointing if the characters who follow that unspeakably evil demon Dragon would be clones or something not astounding in some way..

While it's CLEAR they're different characters i think people were more upset that they're based off of existing characters and were hoping for other people. I Feel like they could have been introduced like what the did with Rugal as a boss team free update. Either way still a great addition

SNK, want to make me happy? Next season make us able to pick between normal version and Orochi version by holding start or something over them instead of putting them in a different slot.
O.Shermie is completely different because she stops becoming a grappler
And Yashiro turns from a striker to a grappler as O Yashiro.

You have trouble fighting against Krohnen pick O.Yashiro, he is the anti Krohnen character like he was in 2002/2002um against k999/nameless.
Next we need Orochi Iori and Orochi Leona.
Nah, we can do without them, they are actual clones. It would be cool if they were added as costumes for Leona and Iori tho, sort of like how Nightmare Geese was a costume for Geese in KOF 14.

This game is mad fun although the matchmaking's kinda wonky the game gonna have crossplay next year so... yeah give it a shot!

Really in truth I could make arrangement that Chris is Orochi he is one 7 kings. It would only be logical to have him transform into Orochi. In my opinion they are the originals.
So they are like Goku. Next up team Shin Orochi, with all new Yashiro, Chris and Shermie! Followed by team Heavenly Orochi, of what if those three were actually good!

They were never clones. If people claim they do, that's when you know they never played KOF98. They are completely different than the Shoto archetype, which has almost same sprite, moveset and normals. They are more comparable to Kyo/Goro/Benimaru more than anything, but still very different.

I'm just now realizing that the orochi team supers are just copies of the Japan team with Kyo, Gorou, and Benimaru.

I think it would have been better if they were in the base roster, shared slots with their normal versions (like in KOF 98 and 2002) or if they were DLC free like Rugal at least
Now they feel like they're stealing slots other characters could have used.
And if it is true that the Season 2 DLC characters are going to be single entries like in KOF XIV, it will make the pain even worse

@@ameerrusdi2540 Meant 2002. Granted from 2002 to cvs2 normal iori to orochi iori pretty much the same but have afew differences in super and some what special moves. Now with kof13 and 14 and now 15. There no orochi iori. Only thing that happen his with you do his ult. And well getting mad just to do one claw move is slightly pathetic. Still pretty cool. And bonus his KOF13 dlc flame iori does do his orochi flame pillar has his ilt bit it's a differences veriant. And I'm pretty sure the developers can change him about to make him more wild..
