Also, I find it slightly odd that the one and probably the most titular of crown events, the coronation, which closely follows coronation rituals for all the other nobility and other royal families, has the inability to give an oath with the same zeal and believability that let’s say a Vegas wedding or a simple testimony at court would entail. I honestly do not know the way that Kings of Gondor take their knights oaths, but I bet I could wing it. “I, knight of Gondor, pledge to you my king my sword, my life, my limb, and all my loyalty in war and peace.” How far off could that be?
And it’s in English. No wonder the Anglican’s left Catholicism. They’d never manage the first five minutes of a mass.

How is it useless? The monarch represents the shared history, present and future of a people, this ensures the stability of a nation despite economic turmoil and ever-changing governments and politicians and is therefore of great importance

Some people might question why he only asked William, and not Harry, to make that pledge. Harry is living in the United States with his American wife. If he should ever want to become a Naturalized American citizen at some point in the future then he cannot be swearing allegiance to any other country or King… and that includes his Dad. I’m sure that his Dad, King Charles III, knows this even if Harry doesn’t. That’s probably why he asked that just his heir apparent, Prince William, take that oath. Prince Harry has dropped down from number 2 to number 5 on the succession list… behind William and both of his children.

All I felt was anger at Diana for racing around with a dumb playboy who was actually engaged to someone else. She partied, raced around and was stupid. I was home with my little boys. If Diana had stayed at home with her boys.....she would still be alive.
