    products have come a long way, we were using roof shingles to rap windows years ago. I think Miami-Dade & Broward County Florida, were the first to use, 6" tape on the roof sheathing, as a second water barrier.

    Good process I like to oversize my window jamb extensions by 1/8" to allow for the deficiency at the finish stage for my finish carpenter Seems to be a forgotten issue for many builders

    Hell yea zip system is the shit, makes me nervous here in pacific northwest rainforest zone but man what a clean product. Acrylic tape for the win buddy clean clean clean and I know you got that positive slope on the sill.

    Looks cool, but does that stretching at the corners either weaken the fabric or more importantly tear or shrink?

  • @ryantracey8574
    @ryantracey8574 Před 2 měsíci +17

    I want to see that stretch tape after a while of it sitting there, a lot of products that stretch eventually give up and retract making it so those corners aren't sealed, im sure it works or you wouldnt use it but id have to see it before i used it.

      yeah forsure.. just do it the normal way. waterproofing ain't the step to use experimental products

    • @Deans-Details
      @Deans-Details Před 2 měsíci

      It works well if you install it after the particular exposures had some decent sun exposure, your stretch tape is nice and warm, and it’s about 50 degrees on a dry day. Works even better when it’s 95 degrees. Doubt it’s worth damn in the winter.

      @@w.k.d.constructionllc no, not in the 10 years or so since it came out. The stretch tape came out a few years after the original and was like 4 times the cost, so just continued to use the regular never seen the point of the stretch. It won't go as far but it will certainly go around the corner for a pan flashing. Try it.

    Tape shouldn’t replace house wrap as it tends to fish mouth and funnels water directly into openings in the sheathing. It’s just a way for contractors to slap homes up faster IMO.
