Contemporary Cement Sculpting Camp, Karnataka - Mermaids Sculpture

The Mermaid sculpture was made in the contemporary cement sculpting camp organized at Agumbe by the Karnataka Shilpakala Academy. It becomes a great program for all the artists from respective sculpture backgrounds to meet and exchange knowledge on sculpting techniques on various topics. Mermaid- an aquatic creature with the head and the upper body of a female and a tail resembling a fish is sculpted beautifully and sometimes associated with storms, or they can be benevolent bestowing wishes.

Thanks for these vids! They are worth watching as entertainment but I would really love more information on the material they are using. What sort of cement is it? What sort of material do they add to the basic mix? How long will it typically remain workable? Anything else such as mixing, appropriate thickness to be added to the sculpture at a time, considerations for drying, etc. would be great. Thank you!
