- One of the best ways to make your older mustang (or any Ford) is to upgrade your key fob to newer one with a switchblade style key. It will work with any Ford and you can program it yourself!

Make sure you leave your key in the ignition when you press the lock buttons on your fob while in program mode! Once you remove it, you are no longer in program mode

Right on, just ordered one. I have both keys for the 12 GT500🤙 Do you know if any key covers fit? Something a bit cooler looking maybe a snake lol.

what if you dont have a working key fob and just a key can i still program it on my own?

I dont have a link to that but the key fob separates down the middle and you will find the battery inside. I normally take the key out of the bottom and use it to pry the bottom of the fob apart
Can you share the link for the keyfob used? Wonder if this will work on 99-04 mustangs and 99-01 Lightnings. I would love to get rid of the older keys.

Did your ignition switch have a little cover on it for the OEM key? My ranger has one and not sure how to get rid of it.

New subscriber here. I only have 1 master and I bought the switchblade key took to locksmith had key cut but they for some reason couldn’t get the vehicle into program mode I’ve looked up mustang forums and it says I indeed do need 2 master keys to enter program mode ? 06 gt. Any ideas?
Welcome to the channel! I'm not sure why you can't get into program mode. My locksmith did it with only having the one key. I'm sorry I can't help more with this but it might be worth a second opinion from a different locksmith

Where did you get your decal for the back? Do they have just a ford one? I ordered some for my 07 Focus so the mustang logo wouldn’t quite go with the car 😂

Only if you want to do the programming yourself. Or you can go to a locksmith and have them cut and program a second key (switchblade style). It costs almost the same. If you already have 2 master keys then you can buy the $20 key from Amazon and have it cut, then program it yourself

Ford Probably won't do it. I called the dealership and they said the key won't work. Clearly it does because mine works. The dealership is funny that way. I would just go to a locksmith
@@automotiveantics I went to a locksmith today and he said he couldn’t program it and key is the same as yours but the color is red

You can try but you usually need 2 original keys
