When its colder outside we typically start it inside or in a greenhouse to get good roots going before transplanting. It will go dormant and the foliage dies back to the ground surface over winter.

Or you use mat clamps and you can drag. I just did about 220 mats for my gym and used these. Life savers.
Not many people have need for mat clamps but have a leaf blower. Just offering a DIY solution.
