I love you. Thanks for this. One of the best reviews
Alex really found the sweet spot with CS series of sound function ease of use and price ! I might put Hollywood brass on the shelf
Thanks for this review !
MovieKid Techlife Thanks for watching!
Thanks for the excellent review. Getting this library very soon. I can't understand why this long anticipated library hasn't had more reviews. Where are the unusual suspects who usually review these libraries. Anyway all the more appreciated for the review. Thanks
The Invitation Thanks for watching!
'somewhere in my memory' horn part :) thanks for the review! this is an excellent detailed look
Haha love it!
at 9:57 for those curious!
Thanks for the review! Although I will still go for Cinebrass but the prize of this especially because you also get solo brass is incredible..
Jonathan Altenmüller Music Thanks for watching :)
What, I was literally just searching for a good review for CSB at the exact moment you uploaded this... what else do you have to hide Christopher? :D
;D
That's the Siu Effect! :)
Sounds pretty good overall. I’m convinced a lot of VST companies don’t know what marcato is for brass though - they don’t have enough front to the note. This sounds the case with CSB.
Please, I wanted to ask you a question, which has a stronger dynamic range, the patch 6 horns legato of century brass or the patch 4 horns of cinematic studio brass, thank you very much
Hi, as I don’t own Century Brass, I can’t comment on that. CSB is definitely known for its dynamic range, it’s huge.
@@ChristopherSiu Thank you very much for responding, you do a great job with your videos, congratulations
Great review. I’m on limited HD space and was planning to get Spitfire studio brass and winds (core) in the spring sale starting soon. However I haven’t heard a great demo of that yet and love your playing on CSB! Have you tried Spitfire Studio Brass and if so how do you think it compares?
Slow Descent to Wild I haven’t tried the Spitfire libs yet, so unfortunately can’t comment. They sound great in the demos though!
Christopher Siu thanks for replying. I’d love to hear you play spitfire studio brass as you play the way I like to hear it. Anyway thanks again for great review of CSB :)
I think I'm gonna go for this next. I just can't get satisfied with any of my trumpet/trombone short samples and the ones in here sound just perfect! Plus I'll get to put that CSS discount coupon to use.
man, those trumpet repetitions are EVERYTHING
It's definitely one of the smoothest brass libraries out there. Do itttt
@@ChristopherSiu Hey Christopher, just curious, did you get a discount for having CSS? How do you go about getting it?
Kurt Tomlinson | Compositions Yep! I was sent an email with a discount code as soon as CSB was released. If you own CSS and don’t have the email, send Alex’s team an email and they’ll take care of you :)
@@ChristopherSiu Thank you, Christopher! I'll have to check my email!
Thank you very much for the review Christopher, 3 weeks ago I bought it and I am very happy. But I'm missing the patch of 2 horns and trumpet ensemble. Is there any way in kontakt of about two patches of single horn and that sounds like 2 horns? thank you.
Michelo Hi Michelo, are you saying your copy of the library is missing those patches? If so, I would try redownloading the library and see if you still have that problem. If so, I’m sure Alex’s support team will be happy to help you out!
@@ChristopherSiu My copy, not all. There is no standard patch of 2 horns, nor trumpet ensemble. As much I can join the trumpet solo and 2 trumpets in one, so I would have an ensemble.
Thanks for sharing this.
May i ask what your process is and what you use to record all audio for these type of demos?
Igor Sena Thanks Igor. I use screenflow and a lav mac inputting into my iPhone for audio.
@@ChristopherSiu Hello, there, Cristopher =)
Thank you for the reply and for sharing the walkthrough once more(found it on the cinematic studio brass VI Control thread).
Keep up with the awesome work =)
Just yesterday I was researching about this library, and today this review of yours comes out, is this perhaps an Iluminati or extraterrestrial conspiracy? _X-files theme starts to sound_
I just knew you were looking around
@@ChristopherSiu _surprised Pikachu meme here_
hello man, how do feel Cinematic Brass vs CineBrass? Strengths?
Hi Artemi, this is a pretty easy comparison for me, maybe I'll do a video comparing the 2 libraries. CSB is smoother, has a wider dynamic range, and is very playable. CineBrass boasts a better tone, intuitive programming, and the Sony ambience that I just love. Make sure you listen to the demos and figure out which one you prefer before purchasing one or the other!
In the repetitions you do not explain the role of the sustain pedal mentioned in the manual which is confusing: what does the sustain pedal do? The repetitions sound the same with or without the sustain pedal, despite what it says in the manual. Can you please clarify?
Thanks for this! That they can sound so good out-of-the-box really helps, but should never be relied on completely: As a media composer, you have the gift & knowledge to NOT play these sample libraries as a keyboardist, something where many composing midi music (even some sample library creators doing demos) fail, because play-composing a particular instrument to get the realistic characteristics of it (making it sound "idiomatic"), is equally important to the sample quality, & how they are structured, to make these sounds work best in the end!
So welcome!
Trombones can’t really play legato, it would sound like portamento because of the slide. Even with real life players there’s always a slight gap between the notes.
The closest I've heard any library emulate this is Sample Modeling's brass
10:55 Rogue One Main Theme, anybody?
I wonder why they didn't sample some of the instruments down to a low C..I guess you just have to pitch it down, then transpose..
Yes, I think that would be the easiest option.
Sounds so incredibly detailed. Unfortunately the smaller ensemble sizes are a deal breaker for me. At their current sizes the ensemble patches sound more like the brass section of a big band than of an orchestra to me. I'm sure it's not just the smaller ens, the room probably has a lot to do with it as well and maybe some other mixing related things but that's just the feeling I get.
One solution to that would be to write and record more parts to simulate standard orchestra sections (i.e. three trumpets, four horns, three bones, etc)
This little work of mine was performed by one solo instrument per part strictly according with Copland's orchestration: 4 horns, 3 trumpets, 3 trombones and 1 tuba in the brass section. What do you think?: czcams.com/video/_443DTNy72A/video.html
I also have some examples with CSB's brother library Cinematic Studio Strings.
Just use 2 trumpet Patch and 1 solo trumpet and so on!
Meant to say usual
