This is one of my favourite songs from the SIU album. Thank you so much for watching, and please read below for my interpretations/theories!
In terms of the line "わたしわしょおきにもどるんですか？", I interpreted "しょおき" as "正気" (shōki/sanity), but I found something interesting. Shōki (鍾馗) is a deity from China's Taoist pantheon who was often depicted in sculptures and paintings during the Edo-period of Japan. Shōki is the "protector against evil spirits and illness". This is just extra information, though, so take it as you wish!

Let's take a deeper dive into the song's meaning.
First of all, in the first 9 seconds of the video, we see a beautiful, light scene. The title reads "きのこをたべたおひめさま", which means "The Princess Who Ate a Mushroom", which begs the question; did she eat a magic mushroom? Given the song's title, Magical Doctor, and the video's psychedelic content, it's almost definite to say that she did. But wait! There's more! As one Japanese commenter (いい) pointed out, the time in this scene is 6:65, which... Obviously is not a real time. So what could this mean? A quick Google search of this number will bring you to this website (thesecretofthetarot.com/angel.... Here is a quote from it.
"It’s an indicator that your life is about to be transformed. Are you ready for this? The angels want to you to get ready for our life to take a new, exciting turn. They want to send miraculous opportunities into your life. As such, you should ready yourself to take advantage of this. Angel number 665 is a sign of change. If this number keeps crossing your life, it means that you will experience some major changes in life. These changes will encompass your spiritual, personal, and professional life. These changes will enable you to grow as a person - regardless of whether the changes are positive or negative."
That's a lot of information to take in, so allow me to break it down a little. An indication that your life is "about to be transformed"? What could this transformation be? Well, in multiple studies and people's personal experiences with magic mushrooms, it has been found that magic mushrooms can have a positive, beautiful impact on people. For example, magic mushrooms can act as the treatment, or even the total cure, for depression, anxiety and other similar illnesses by resetting, or rebooting, the brain. Could this be the possible "disease" mentioned within the song? Or the "transformation" as signified in 665? Pay attention to this paragraph,
"These changes will encompass your spiritual, personal, and professional life. These changes will enable you to grow as a person - regardless of whether the changes are positive or negative."
When the clock changes, the time is of course 6:66. In Chapter 13 of The Book of Revelation, it reads, "Let the one with understanding reckon the meaning of the number of the beast, for it is the number of a man. His number is 666.". This is why "666" is dubbed the "Devil's number". As opposed to mushrooms, and since addiction to magic mushrooms is rare, perhaps the princess was addicted to Christianity instead, or maybe even the Devil themself?
Another explanation could be that the "disease" the "princess" has is Narcissistic Personality Disorder (NPD), which is why she's titled as a "princess" even though she can't become one (or isn't one). There's more that I could add, but this description is long enough. Thank you for watching!

what makes this sadder is the lack of kanji in the mv. for context, japanese has three "alphabets" - i'll show them below and use the word for world:
hiragana:
せかい (sekai)
katakana:
セカイ (sekai)
kanji form:
世界 (sekai)
hiragana and katakana are syllabaries, while kanji is.. i don't know how to explain it, but kanji characters are used to represent different concepts and such, and are mainly derived from the chinese language.
ANYWAY, the usage of mainly kana is seen as elementary, like how big writing in english is seen as more childish. other than in the beginning and during the "the infirmary is not for sleeping" parts, there's mostly kana in the mv for this song, emphasizing just how young the girl (miku in this case) is.
i'm sorry for rambling haha. please correct me if i'm wrong!! i'm studying japanese and i'm not too knowledgeable regarding the language/culture yet, so i could easily be completely wrong ^^

Adding on to kanji: In writing, it may be difficult to distinguish words that are similar or are the exact same using just hiragana or katakana. Using kanji can help distinguish them since they show different meanings and can differentiate the two words more than just kana alone would

I don't know how to explain it, but I relate to this video so much. The visuals get more and more aggressive as the video goes on. The lyrics "Doctor, will my disease be cured?" "..." Is so relatable for me. I feel like no matter what to do, I'll never be happy again. Even with antidepressants and a therapist, I feel like it will never go away. This video is how angry I feel about being hopeless.

"the infirmary isn't for skipping class" - I figured that line was said to the girl in this song for trying to escape the torment of her peers constantly. that's why I figured the song is so loud- the noise is what she deals with in the form of people, and in the infirmary, it was all settled, but the one person who could've helped didn't understand why she skipped so often. but after seeing the video, I understand the interpretation of drug abuse as well. maybe using drugs as a coping method to try and escape to a new world?? oh maretu

I feel like the warning being at the end of the video signifies the victim already took the drug and it's too late to turn back.... still gave me a freaking heart attack though. also, the bridge is written in just hiragana, aka the first script japanese children learn. I think it's supposed to signify a young child, since the majority of (female) children dream of becoming a princess.
Fun fact: if you wear headphones or earbuds, the side of each one ( left or right ) has a different pitch to the singing. One has a more high pitched voice, and the other side has a lower voice. I like the low voice side lol

theory:
the song is about a school girl who suffers from some kind of torment that led her to doing drugs
at first, the drugs was just so she could cope, but over time it became an addiction and she regrets it
she keeps going to the school nurse in an attempt to ask for help, but the nurse brushes it off as her trying to skip class, which leads her to become extremely stressed

I know this is about drug addiction, but as someone who has a chronic illness/disability I also somehow relate to a lot of the lyrics.
"Will my disease be cured?" "My disease can't be cured" Are pretty obvious, the feeling of repeatedly, desperately asking doctors if theres a cure, even just something to ease the pain, and always being told NO. "The infirmary isn't for skipping class" reminds me of my school time, being accused of faking illnesses to skip lessons because I took so much sick time off, even though it was for legitimate pain, but nobody believes that pain can be constant or get so bad so often. "Will I regain my sanity" is just...being in constant pain fucks with your mental health, and often causes irreparable trauma. Many people with chronic illnesses develop PTSD or symptoms similar to it. Its super sucky. "I can't become a princess" "I can't return to those times" is not being able to "become a princess" or achieve your dreams/ambitions because the pain won't allow you to, nor being able to "return to those times" before the illness was as bad, like early childhood. The intermittent TEARS bit is, well, you spend a lot of time crying. Pain does that to you. I know this isn't the actual meanings, but this is how I always end up interpreting it.

I'm sorry you have to go through this as well, just as the person above me said. Also like the person above, I deal with severe mental illness and I can relate this song to myself as well. Especially with how much sensory stuff is in here, as well as most of the lyrics and the pleading of the girl.
As someone with chronic pain, a mobility problem, and PTSD from getting hit by a car three years ago, I vibe with your interpretation
Oh man I had to scroll down and see if I was alone in relating to this so hard despite having 0 experience with drugs,,,
I have fibromyalgia, migraines and overextending joints, and all of it is just a lot of chronic pain to deal with at once. If it's not one of them causing me problems, then it's the other two.. Some days it's all three and Boy does it Suck. What's worse is that while my migraines got diagnosed early, everything else was only discovered about a year ago. I'm 24.
I'd go to doctors complaining about really bad pains, but I was always told to just exercise more. This was mostly because I was mildly overweight and inactive (bc, you know, chronic pain) and doctors never bothered to look deeper into things than just blame my weight - until eventually two years ago one doctor discovered BY ACCIDENT that I have a metabolism disorder; even dieting doesn't help my weight much since my body doesn't work like it should. Still, it took a whole year and an embarrassing, sobbing breakdown in front of a doctor to actually look into it and lo and behold; a lot of issues.
For my whole life, I grew up thinking what I felt was normal. Everyone told me nobody liked whining so I never mentioned it, even when it was bad. For years, I was ridiculed and kept thinking something was wrong with me in a way that was my fault, that I was the problem and I was just lazy and uncaring. I couldn't even muster energy for things I wanted to do. I hated myself for being that way. And then, when it feels far too late, after suffering for years, it turns out I myself was never the issue. (I'm not bitter or anything where do you get that idea? Pssh) Needless to say, mental illness has been kicking my ass and the Current Times aren't making things much easier.
Self-pity aside, living with chronic pain is utter hell. For me the worst part is that it's not externally visible, because nobody believes me without actual documents proving my diagnosis - if even then. I don't know what kind of chronic pain you have to deal with, but I hope that you're doing well and if not, I hope that things get better for you! Good luck!! I hope you have a good day!!

Agreed. The line "i can't become a princess" might refer that drugs can alter your perception where you think you're "superhuman" but after it wears off,you realize that you're actually nobody.
@@chloraquarium-2524 i thought that line was more about losing their innocence. they had so much potential for a good life but lost it all when they took some drugs and now their entire life revolves around an inescapable cycle of addiction. and even if they can somehow find a way to recover from the medical aspects of addiction, their life, reputation, and mental health is permanently ruined and in turn lead them back into more addiction.

Re: the description, apologies if you noted this and I just missed it but I'm also totally sure this song is about drug abuse, not just given the stuff with the "mushrooms" and the imagery but the syringes in the cover art later on...obviously they're medical, but especially in the context of what we see in this song and just MARETU in general I don't see a reason to necessarily associate them with a literal doctor lmao. Whether the drug abuse is the cause of her "disease" or if it's a coping mechanism for the disease is another question.
