Here is the feedback of 5 hours spotting at Rhodes, Diagoras International Airport. Watch aircrafts taxiing in taxiway A - the taxiway parallel to the runway and the spotting point - lining up and taking off. Also enjoy aircrafts as they operate some windy landings and therefore touchdown with their right wheel first and move their rudders to the left, as well as their pilots trying to resist the air gusts (more information about the windy landings operations below). Generally watch numerous landings and takeoffs of a big variety of aircrafts and airlines, from the Olympic Dashes to the TUIfly 767s and the British A321, filmed from my usual spotting point in close view. Enjoy all of them!
    Filmed at 28 May 2016.
    *More about the windy landings:
Generally all the aircrafts in flight are subject to the direction of the winds in which the aircraft is operating (tend to turn their fuselage to the air direction). This happens because air pushes their tails in its way and, of course, this brings the heads flying inside the air. This makes an aircraft flying in one direction, while its head is turned a little left or right of this direction (depends on the wind direction). For example: an aircraft has a heading of 360. Air has a heading of 020. The aircraft keeps flying across 360, but its head is looking to 020 (if this air is applied). There are three techniques that helping pilots to avoid this phenomenon, especially during the landing, in order to align with the runway. The most common technique, used by airline transport pilots, is to resist the air by moving the rudder and ailerons to opposite way of the air direction. For example if the air is blowing from the right (the aircraft's head will tend to turn to the right), pilots move the rudder to the left to aling the aircraft. An other issue for pilots is that they must touchdown the side that is looking to the air first. This is the reason you will see some aircrafts of this video touches down with the right wheel first....air was applied from the right!
I hope this description to be helpfull!
