Give the guy a break. The reason he played Back in Black that way is so that he wouldn't get in trouble with Intellectual property rights violation. CZcams could say this video violates the owners copyright of the song. Also there is nothing wrong with improvising and trying different things. So Chill !

even on Facebook I remember having a live stream and in the background very faint was David Gilmour song I wound up getting a message to remove it because of copyrights, you have to change the riffs up temp tone chords whatever, but I have always liked the Vintage Brand, for the money you are getting a pretty decent guitar with good quality for under £300 or so quid ,.

My (old like yours) VS6 is still my favourite guitar. I put a deusenberg Les Trem on it, epic. The reason Gibson sued is because these were not far off the Gibson offering and way better than the Epiphone for considerably less scratch.

I played one of these today. I thought it was an excellent SG copy. The neck was very playable, the action was good, the pick-ups were superb [they had a lot of the Gibson sound about them]. The only odd thing for me, was the unusual neck length, although I'm not used to SG's. I soon forgot about it.
All in all a great guitar - for a fraction of the price of a Gibson and to me, better than an Epiphone.

What I think is that the Vintage has a sort of high quality sound and the Gibson has another sort of high quality sound . They can be made to sound the same
( I've heard it ) but why? If a person wants to shell out for a Gibson that's their choice .

I had a Gibson SG in mid 70s...can't remember exactly what it cost, probably over £400. My Vintage VS6 cost me £190 new couple of years ago... I did fit some Tonerider Alnico II replacement pickups, but apart from that there's been nothing that needed doing to the guitar. Very low action, no buzzing frets and the nut seems fine. Incredible value for money.... probably the best guitar I've ever owned and I've owned a few Gibsons and other well known makes over the years. Its unusual to get a guitar that doesn't need setting up, i.e. frets levelling or nut remade etc etc....maybe I was lucky here.

    • @TheGuitarGeek

I was the second owner of this VS6 and I think the original owner messed about with.
Great guitars and if they had a different name on the headstock, people would be buying them left, right and centre

  • @stefkolner1584

Nice video man, I've also got a Vintage VS6 for six months now!
Actually I wanted to go for an Epiphone LP but my favourite guitar store made the switch to selling Vintage type guitars instead of Epiphone...
The guy at the store told me that Gibson/Epiphone had some serious unrealistic demands and so they quit selling Gibsons etc.
I play acoustics for more than 15 years, and had a Squier strat back in the day but had no real 'fun' playing it, but that was also because I didn't delve into the specs or reviews and stuff...
Shorty I wanted to try playing electric guitar again, and hence my heroes from the classic rock all drive a Les Paul, this was the guitar I'd been lookin for.. Until I tried the Vintage VS6 in the corner..
Man that first touch felt good, and I was looking for an excuse to still buy the Epiphone Les Paul but couldn't find any.. So I trusted my gut feeling and took the VS6 home with me...
Though I had some serious doubts back then, I now realise it was the best choice I've ever made!
Also been playing more on it than my acoustics.. Great guitar for the price!!!
(BTW sorry for any bad spelling/grammar, I'm Dutch)

Bought a Vintage VS6 around 2013 as an upgrade of a beginner Squire bulletstrat bought in 2006. Even tho the consumer desire to buy a new one got me in these years, untill now in 2022 I haven't and I still haven't felt the NEED to get something better than that VS6. I love that guitar so much, nowdays they make them with a slightly different shape wich I don't like, but still, they are awesome. I will buy (or make) new different shaped guitars in the future but just for the aesthetics, like Tele or Jag. That VS6 still gives me joy everytime I play it. Also one day I would like to buy one used and pimp it up with expensive pickups to see what happens but Wilkinson's are great for their price range.

Couldn't agree more. Got a VS6, 3 of their Les Paul's - one of which is even better than my Gibson imho for sound/neck - and a few strats and teles (yeah I kinda got hooked on buying guitars during covid lol). Vintage make some damn fine guitars. Been playing for over 40 years now and they have been a real revelation in the last year. Cheap and kick ass :)

Plenty of older VS6 around, easy to spot because of that older offset. They usually go for £120, a silly price for a guitar of such quality. Gibson SG felt very light and cheap compared to VS6.

Sold mine today (biding version). Didn’t like the neck, it‘s some weird V shape..
Good thing, it has no neck dive!
Pickups were nice, but nothing extraordinary.
My Epiphone G400 worn brown, I will never sell :)
It has neck dive, but the neck is just amazing for the price.
I do have an early Vintage V100, which I also never will sell, best pickups in a LP that I‘ve ever had.
And I owned a Gibson with 490/498, that I sold a week ago..

This is one of the special and very rare VS6 Icons (distressed). Its not a standard JHS VS6 and you are raising expectation unrealistically!! You should have made this clear in the video because every Tom Dick and Harry will think oh great I'll go out and get one. It's' a great guitar but sadly long since discontinued (JHS Vintage stopped making this model in 2013 that's 3 years before you shot the video!!). Its not easy to find on the used market either, took me months to track one down in the UK. It will be even harder to find one on the used market outside the UK, so good luck trying to find one!

@@TheGuitarGeek I think you are getting confused and need to check the JHS Vintage catalogues. In 2013 JHS Vintage were still producing the VS6 Icon MRCR but that year they changed the guitar styling to included an offset lower horn and extended lower bout. They made the guitar in that configuration for about 2 years then discontinued the model. They then reintroduced it in 2018 as part of their reissue line however, the new version has neck binding as well as the offsets. Both guitars looks similar to the guitar you feature that's why I think you maybe confused.

Can I dare to say that these guitars are the real deal if you want the look of a Gibson and don't want to buy an Epiphone ?

I'm really not interested in hearing a demo with gain. Use clean tone!

Mats Peterson well as you asked so nicely... I'll go back in time and reshoot the video. Just for you. Clean tone is EXACTLY what people expect from a video about SGs

I want to hear the clan tone on every guitar....once you go into gain you’re just listening to how much your amp changes the True Tone of your guitar

If you buy a new Gibson I guarantee you will need nut adjustment and fret dressing.

  • @GuitarPlayerBackingTracks

That is a fantastic guitar for a reasonable amount of money. Too bad the cites rules stops me from getting one. I have the vintage V100 GT and the V100 Iced Tea. They are really good guitars and I wish I could buy more from Vintage. I have 2 Epi Les Pauls and 3 Gibson Les Pauls and I would put Vintage closer to Gibson than Epiphone.

I think you're right there. I have a few Gibsons and they are really really close to the Vintage in some cases.

    • @GuitarPlayerBackingTracks

Absolutely, and considering the price I think Vintage is a lot more guitar for the money.

looks good but ,the pickups are bad especially in high gain so much feedback you cant even touch it , not very nice to play with and the neck is not a fat one .for the beginners are not that bad

Adriyan Slavchev to be fair.. thete are guitars test cost a grand and even more with the same size neck. Not necessarily a baseball neck make the guitar better.

Just picked the same guitar but non distressed....its a beast 1 year old and hardly played on. Even one year warrenty left on it for 50 Pct of the new price. Its brand new so to speak and very well build. Plays like a dream and i think its a benchmark for setting all my other guitar strings. Very happy with it.
