Ospf is used for reachability....
What ever the information that is shared within the same AS number will not be forwarded in IBGP.. since it is not forwarded we need to have routes for reachability .. so we are using routing protocols ( ospf, eigrp, RIP or static route) ....

IBGP is mainly for large network like internet.. as it can handle more routes.. while ospf and eigrp can’t...
Secondly IBGP can be used in mpls network ...
