    Hi, I am a little confused with they explanation of the VAT/TAX input.?
    The bit I am confused about is the fact you saved Dept 1 as 20% VAT and the receipt showed 17p out of £1.
    Is not not 17% or am I missing something here.? Thanks.

    • @ShopStuff-UK
      @ShopStuff-UK  Před 7 lety

      Hi Thanks for watching our videos and for your message.
      VAT is a value added tax - so the 20% VAT is an add on to the 'price' of the item.
      So if an item is 83p before VAT when you add on 20% vat you get to £1.00.
      So £1 inc vat is -
      83p
      17p vat
      Thanks,

    If 20% as rate on a pound, why is it showing as .17 and not .20?

    • @ShopStuff-UK
      @ShopStuff-UK  Před 10 měsíci

      Thanks for your message.
      20% on top of £1.00 would equal £1.20, so £1.00 before tax + 20p tax.
      In the video the example shown is £1.00 in total, which breaks down to 83p before tax, which when you add on the 20% vat gives you your £1.00 so the tax is 17p.
      Thanks,
      Shopstuff

      Hi Kristy,
      Thanks for your message and for watching our videos.
      I think this is happening becasue your machine was previously set to add on.
      My video was for out the box with no previous settings.
      Have a look at this video (for a different machine, and different tax rate): czcams.com/video/z-oufSQ8h4Y/video.html
      Might help?

    • @ShopStuff-UK
      @ShopStuff-UK  Před 5 lety

      Hi Rupinder,
      Thnk you for watching our videos and for your comment.
      Try to re-enter the 6% tax exactly as it does in this video.
      From what you are saying it sounds like you've added the 6% as ADD ON rather than ADD IN.
      ADD ON would explain the £10.00 + 6% = £10.60
      Hope this makes sense!
