Fun Fact: YKK, it turns out, is a Japanese company. (It stands for Yoshida Kogyo Kabushikikaisha--far too long to print on a zipper.) It's got about half of the world's zipper business. And it has a zipper factory in Macon, Georgia, where they make about 5 million zippers a day
Casey- "They scrape a part of the intenstine....."
Link- "Did they take the long way or the short."
CLASSIC LINK!!!{Made my day}
M2(square) which way do they go? I'm curious now
M2(square) Man I face palmed sooo hard when he said that.
Short way would be easier
they do go the long way, actually. they have to do a endoscopy. pretty much a long tube with a camera you have to swallow.
That's the short way, if they are trying to get to the small intestine.
My favorite line in the video, "Gluten free singles, the two of you will never stick together" X-D
Crap, I have a date tonight, but I don't have time to brush up on my World War II trivia. Maybe I should just cancel.
how did the date go
Come tomorrow and sort my garage out
No Dinner Provided
Bring trash bags, a broom, and massage oil,
it’s going to be a long day.
this never gonna get old😄
*Exotic Butters*
da_squish where's that from?
+locs13000 GMM ep 988 (5 Unbelievable Sleepwalking Stories), at around 9:44. :)
massage oil optional
link is me in every social interaction I've ever had. Someone says something serious, Make an awkward joke.
I really liked this gmmore, it's just nice to watch people chat about things and get lost in the conversation 😊
Hyzenthlay Yeah like the old gmm. Not the usually scripted version.
With them playing games or doing some activity, that generally get more views than them just having conversations or telling stories. I watch either kind of gmmore, really
Brandon Lira yeah, I do miss the old gmm
Mark Louise Fernandez haha thanks! 😄
Hyzenthlay yeah makes you fee like you have friends. Seems like their chilling with you right there 😭
Thanks for raising Celiac awareness! I didn't think I could love this show any more, but you proved me wrong. Love you all!
I was confused for a second about the freezing temperature of water - then realized I was thinking in Celsius
celsius is a wierd word.
and fahrenheit isnt? Also, celsius is commonly known as centigrade which sounds a lot more normal.
I never said it wasn't.
Heax Beast
... Centigrade... Centi, grade... 100's, grade... cent is a word commonly used for almost all forms of measurement, and centigrade is just the adaptation for temperature. Like, for example, per cent, cents on the dollar, centimetres, century, etc
It's more of a generational thing, officially it is now Celsius, and has been for a long time now. The texbooks now say Celsius.
Most everyone I know says Celsius, though i think Americans are usually slow to change things lol.
"Sometimes I eat the toppings of the pizza, and then I just have diarrhea."
"Cute!"
You guys should continue your podcast ear biscuits and have a new crew member on each podcast
I second this! Ear Biscuits was fun to listen to.
+
Mike Bishop they're bringing it back!
An old co-worker of mine said casually that america wasn't part of WWII and I had to stop talking to that person forever.
jesseg1699 well not all of America was involved in WWII.
Mr. Meatball to me its a matter of we were involved or we werent.
The only thing we did in WWII was win the Pacific theater and defeat Germany. It's not like we were _that_ involved.
And also had women factory workers while raising children. Plus we had wartime shortages, food rationing, gasoline and tire rationing, nylon rationing, and no new appliances or cars because those factories were converted for war materials.
But yeah, other than that, we were in no way involved.
"win the Pacific theater and defeat Germany", lol what? Never speak about WWII again, that's just an embarrassing oversimplification. The Soviets and British played a far bigger role at defeating the Nazis, Americas biggest asset was its isolation from the war, when munitions factories were bombed in Europe, US factories could continue producing and supply munitions to those Allied nations (they supplied the UK and its empire (Canada, Australia, India etc.) mostly) fighting on the frontlines pushing Italian/German troops back. US troops only entered Europe in 1943 once the Allied forces had already repelled attacks and were on the offensive again.
the restaurant that i work at, our menu is 100% gluten Free, with some modifications to about 2-3 dishes, it is actually pretty amazing how grateful some of customers are that we accommodate them and honestly they get to eat items they normally can't find in other restaurants
pjh970 what is your restaurants name pleeeeese
You are a hero.
If the restaurant is this great why didn't you tell us the name so we can go? Lol
"Don't put me on the spot..." I feel this so much, like my best friend asks me history trivia questions all the time and I don't care how easy they are, if you put me on the spot like that I'm gonna end up answering wrong 😂
I worked with a guy who held a degree from a respected university, and was a decent software developer, yet didn't know the sun is a star.
nox yes it is.
Alice Ignis Look at his avatar, there will be no talking sense to him.
nox
make that 3.846 x 10^26 watt
if it was a star, we'd call it the star, but we don't, it's called the sun. also, pluto is a planet because a micro planet is still a planet.
Pete Lorenzo Just because it is called 'the sun' doesn't mean it isn't also a star. The reason for the sun having a unique name is because it has more significance than any other star.
they're faces at 2:59 when link asked "do they go the long way or the sort way" I'm dying 😂😂😂
They should definitely do a "Are You Smarter Than a 5th grader" styled episode
this was great! as someone with celiac disease, this is super relatable (the part about the party food and celery especially). thanks!
Also, quick note to people considering going gluten free: if you have gastrointestinal issues or if someone in your family can't eat gluten, you should try it. if not eating it makes you feel better, then definitely stop eating it. However, you probably shouldn't go gluten-free just because it seems healthy- it's really no healthier in most regards, and in some ways is actually less healthy (i have a pretty bad vitamin d deficiency because of it, which is really not too fun). also, it's way more expensive and very inconvenient.
Evelea S what is celiac disease?
Yeah I have celiac disease, and it's no fun. I'm constantly tired, and I hurt everywhere. I know it's different with each person, so I'm not sure, but I usually ache a lot no matter what I do. I've probably only felt perfectly healthy like 3 times in my life. (well that I can remember.)
taliandminnie forever it's an autoimmune disorder that causes the small intestine to be hypersensitive to gluten. this results in really severe vomiting if gluten is ingested, as well as other super unpleasant symptoms. you can look it up for more information :)
Katherine Coster im sorry to hear that :( i have pretty similar symptoms (although i usually only have pain in my GI area), so i feel ya. have you tried taking an osmotic laxative (such as miralax)? it sounds weird, but it actually really helps clear bacteria out of your GI tract and majorly reduces cramping. ive been on it daily for a little over a year and although im far from perfect, ive been much better. maybe talk to your doctor about giving it a try? like you said, everyone is different, but it may be worth a shot :)
Evelea S thanks, I'd have to see what my Mom thinks, cuz I don't really have a doctor I kinda just use essential oils and reflexology.
"Sometimes I eat the toppings off the pizza, though, and then I just have diarrhea."
"Cute!"
They should do more GMMores like this, with other people from the crew and just random talking.
I've heard celiac affects so many other areas of your body and your mind too. - sometimes causing extreme memory loss. I'm very glad to be cutting out a lot of things just to avoid any of this kind of stuff down the road. Seems like lots of older folks are getting more sensitive systems than ever, or maybe just more advanced info & social awareness than before.
I think the problem is that if you have celiac, the gluten destroys your intestines' ability to properly absorb nutrients, and then the malnourishment can cause a lot of other health problems.
J.S. Hippeli celiac is genetic, you can't just get it randomly as you grow older if no one in your bloodline had it.
Why does Lizzie have to be so purdy haha
can you define purdy please
Say, "Lizzy is so purdy."
Now listen to what you said, you should be able to figure it out.
I'll use it in a sentence:
"You got a purdy mouth, boy."
*Alternatively spelled "purty"
" they go the long way or the short way " XD XD
THE BETTER WAY OF ASKING ! XD
Im diabetic and coeliac! its nice to me to hear you just talking about gluten.
Now I'm dying for cookies and meatballs because of these episodes. Thanks guys 🙄😂
Savannah Young lol me too. Off to Ikea for dinner :)
Ikea has meatballs
gluten free singles sounds like a bad idea out of evolutionary standpoint.
One of my friends has celiacs disease. It's no joke. It literally brings people down for several days. A total life change.
LIZZY! You're so adorable. I love when you guys bring the cast on GMMore.
Lizzie and Link have a similar sense of humor, it's fun watching them react to eachother😂
"Did they go the short way or the long way?" LINK YOU CAN'T ASK THESE QUESTIONS
I have an autoimmune disease called costochondritus which is basically arthritis in my chest and is extremely painful. I cut out gluten and it is 180 degree turn the other way. this conversation is what I go through all the time! as far as gluten free beer goes, try lonely Planet, and green's
That sounds awful
Yeah, who would drink gluten free beer?
5:56 "Can I get you celery?" XD Lol, wow
Not knowing the freezing temperature of water is much worse than not knowing Italy was in WW2.
But you HAVE to know that Italy, Germany, and Japan were tied together in WW2 and that they were fighting against practically everyone else (China, Russia, America, England, Canada, sorry if I'm forgetting about the rest D: )
Most people know that germany (obviously) and japan were part of it, but italy is the lesser known of the 3.
It was basically United States, England and Russia vs Germany, Japan and Italy. Then there was all the other countries that as well. But those we're the main 3.
That's because Italians weren't that active. Italian's didn't want to fight in the war.. they were just forced to because of Mussolini. It wasn't like the Germans who actually wanted to fight... Italians just went where they were told and pretty much did nothing. Then when they got a chance they executed Mussolini and dragged his corps through the streets while everyone spit on it.
Areus White You are right. I was meaning more near the end of the war once they realized Hitler's true form and once they realized they were loosing.
My 2yr old is gluten intolerant, he gets constipated and a rash shows up on his back. Thx for making a show about it :-)
omg yes! you better hit stop then rewind! if you don't hit stop it could take 30-45 minutes to rewind a movie!
Rhett's "I don't have to explain myself to you" 😂
I love this conversational style of GMM, makes me wish they would bring back Ear Biscuits (maybe with crew guests?) But I know they're crazy busy as it is.
I loved this episode. Four humorous smart people just sitting and chatting, you can't find that everday.
I just love how Lizzie is so chill
8:12 - Lizzie's face is just a Goldmine of expressions ^_^
Am I the only one who finds Lizzie attractive?
hell no... Lizzie is very pretty.
She's cute:)
ya
Cesar Andrade looks like it.
Uhh she's gorgeous.
I didn't know Christopher Columbus was Italian until about a week ago, but then again there's an entire Wikipedia page on Origin Theories of Christopher Columbus
I totally know how they feel!! I found out I had celiac at 8.
this was my favorite video In a while so far. thanks for bringing awareness, guys!
There are the awkwardest moments sometimes when link and the crew members talk, especially in this vid.
I really enjoyed this GMMore. The story about Rhett's ex, lizzie joking with Link, so much fun! So glad we got to see some other crew members. Lizzie is great!
If you four are interested, my sister is Celiac (she's 15 now and was diagnosed when she was 5 or 6 I think), along with my Mom's sister and a bunch of her kids. Link, they take the long way to scrape the intestine :P And that blood test is pretty random. If a person is actually Celiac, and they use the blood test, it may come out positive (as in they have Celiac), but it may also wrongly come out negative, so the person assumes he/she doesn't have Celiac disease but actually does. Also, the signs obviously include "gassy diarrhea", but it can also show itself in a number of other ways, depending on the person. Sometimes it's "silent", as in there are no signs, but the intestines are being damaged nonetheless. :(
Anyway, just some random Celiac disease information. :) My sister was thrilled to hear that you were doing gluten vs. gluten free today! (So was I). :) I'd love it if you'd comment saying you read this! It'd make my day!
keep doing what you guys are doing. you honestly make me burst out laughing in this depressing life.
Maybe if Link lost his hearing they'd address the captioning issue.
Heather Hogan They have a thing for that ya know. Watch the MORE of "Weird Ways to Make Yourself Sneeze."
If?
XxPiRoXxX I wish they could just do that, too, but they use Amara.
I knew to stop the VCR before rewinding and I was born in the 90s.
My grandfathers brother helped discover celiacs disease! Glad it's getting more recognition
you wish
Yeah don’t think your grandfathers brother was around 8000 years ago.
@@jacewelsh8537 Celiac wasn't discovered until ~1940
...Link fiddling with his zipper while being censored by his mug made things look a lot more lewd than they were. Oh myyyyy.
Cider's better than beer anyway.
Lorvald nah, too sweet for me. Makes me feel sick. Beer FTW
You have not had proper dry cider, then. That stuff is not sweet at all
Depends on the what beer, but I love Jack Daniel's
I have no life same
Nicole Quinn *on one knee* will you marry me?
one of my favorite GMMOREs with crew members
Them not opening mail yesterday has completely thrown me off! What is time
#GMMAnarchy
them not doing the dink it and sink thing threw me off today.
I know right, I thought it was Saturday today because of that....
The end is nigh! The end is nigh! Agh... run away!
seidimeow I had to sing the mail song to myself.
I love when the conversations devolve into random things like this. I wish they did more podcast style stuff.
It would be cool to see y'all do an allergy test
I have celiac and it's horrible. This is great that they are talking about it. Thanks guys. Not many people think about how serious it is!
Casey does not stand for Links crap... I love it haha (For the record i love Link too obviously)
the last few minutes of this gmmore was my favorite 😄
"The two of you will never stick together."
Celiac here! I thought this video was pretty great for those who are not familiar with gluten related issues. Also, they're right the blood test isn't very accurate. I tested positive for intestinal damage but negative on the blood antibody test. I was told to go gluten-free anyway and after a few weeks I was already looking exponentially better. I had lost over 13lbs in a few months because of malnutrition and gained half of it back just being well again.
Thanks GMM ladies for sharing your GF experiences!
"Not a sponsor... Yet." favorite line based on delivery haha
An idea for future episodes: make statues of one another out of gum that the other person has to chew before you can start molding with it
*sigh* ah the times of having a vcr lol going to channel three😂
The YKK Group is a Japanese group of manufacturing companies. As the world's largest zipper manufacturer, YKK Group is most known for making zippers. It also manufactures other fastening products, architectural products, plastic hardware and industrial machinery.
As Seth Stevenson wrote in Slate, "YKK makes incredibly dependable zippers, ships them on time without fail, offers a wide range of colors, materials, and styles, and never gets badly undercut on price." Because of its reliability, YKK is popular for manufacturers.
Honestly who else remembers using VCR and getting mad at anyone who A) Doesn't rewind after watching
B) Doesn't press stop before rewinding #90sKids
sphinx onyx but what does it have to do with this? This aint facebook lol
My aunt had celiac and I've never been tested but at 18 I realised I had a either a bad gluten intolerance or celiac so been gluten free for 12 years. Wasn't easy at first but after a few years you get used to it. But the gluten free for today is also really good. The bread I but is amazing and the muffins are incredible, I would take them over regular ones any day.
Lizzie, if you don't already know about it, Barilla finally makes gluten-free pasta that tastes delicious and not at all like gum :)
as someone with an extreme case of celiac disease (it affects nerves and joints too hey thats super fun) thank you so much for talking about it, it's nice to see people becoming aware to it
The YKK on the zipper is not about female and male pants. YKK is a chinese zipper brand i think, i think they stand for like about 60% of all zipper products
Exactly...worlds largest manufacturer of zippers...90% to be accurate of all zippers used are from them...YKK stands for Yoshida Kogyo Kabushikikaisha (Yoshida Industries Limited) founded in 1934. And it is actually a Japanese company headquartered in Tokyo Japan
Gee, imagine the revenue...
I have OBO on my zipper, guessing that's a different company?
Lol, mine says YCC. Sounds like a rip-off xD (Or should I say zip-off?)
Everybody just going to ignore the comic brilliance of it being a "one hump camel" situation?! Really?! That was hilarious!
I have cramps, diarrhea and stuff like that all the time, but I don't feel like a want to risk not having all those foods that I love.
***** I migh get myself tested since it seems like a lot of the stuff the girls talked about in the vid happens to me, but on the other hand, I feel and am completely healthy and I can still train as much as I do. I don't feel like anything is holding me back or something.
Thanks for the reaction though. Interesting to hear how you went through that.
Pim Koster you can try to eat gluten free for like 1 week and see if you got a positive result. Than eat gluten and see if you get a reaction from it. It is for the best. If you would be allergic to it you are just destroying your body by keep eating gluten.
It could be any kind of alergy.
Amber S. Well that is true, it can still be safe by starting checking of allergic such as gluten or lactose step by step. Otherwise you can go to the doctor but it can be expensive and it's not 100% certain that they will detect if you take the blood test.
I love how awesome Lizzy is just by being herself! It would be so cool to be have her for a friend 😄
Lizzie seems nice
I almost died when he said "You will never stick together"
That made my day. Looking at the zippers....
I've been gluten and dairy free for 3 years now after getting really sick all the time and the options now are so much better than when I started 😊
You guys should read some reviews of Link's Lip Balm and Rhett's Beard Oil.
A lot of them are hilarious and I would love to see you guys react to them on GMM.
HEY LIZZIE!!! Stone brewing (out of Escondido, CA) makes an IPA (Called Delicious IPA) that is brewed with traditional products but then uses a yeast that destroys the protein chains from the gluten and barley epitopes that cause the reaction within your body. It tests well below the threshold of 20PPM for people who are Celiac and tastes like a normal IPA.
...I feel like knowing the basic scientific fact of freezing/boiling points is way more important than which countries fought in which wars on which side....
Lizzy cracks me up, I love her
For a while, I thought I had celiac disease, as I would have so many stomach problems, but turns out I have IBS (irritable bowel syndrome) so I guess I gotta suffer for life! Can't be narrowed down to any particular type of food...
That stinks. My sister has the same thing. She finds that eating less food at a time helps, plus eating a low-fat diet.
LazySketcher I have celiac, lactose intolerant, and irritable bowel syndrome. So I understand your struggle
I have a lot of stomach problems too and I have no idea what it is.. never got it tested. :\
I have IBS too, I understand your pain!
I have severe Celiac, but luckily the doctors found it when I was 5 years old (still had to have the test). I loved this episode! This is my life all the time, every day, especially now that I'm in college. Thank you so much for spreading awareness through this episode (and in a very entertaining and comical way, too!)
Love you guys so much! Keep up the awesome vids! :D
It doesn't make sense to say, "Things that have gluten are junk food, ergo a gluten-free diet is healthy." Plenty of gluten-free things are junk food, too. Potato chips are gluten-free. Candy is gluten-free. It's not that simple.
p.s. I ate a gluten-free diet for months and finally did a lot of tests for celiacs and other stuff, and they all came out negative. I'm currently eating gluten and very happy.
Leah C if you were eating a gluten free diet when you had the tests done, then you had no gluten in your GI tract, obviously they were negative.
Lyndsay Green
Sorry I didn't make it more clear. I had done the gluten free diet for several months, but I got off of it before I was tested. I wasn't going to spend hundreds of dollars on a test that wasn't accurate! lol
It's a big misconception so I just wanted it to be clear. Celiac tests are a bit different than most other tests. Glad you didn't waste all the money on tests that wouldn't be accurate!
full candy diet. Niiiice.
That VCR story was hilarious. I'm 18 now but I remember using them and my family still has a few.
Lizzie, I know all the countries involved in WW2 baby. Axis and Allies girl.
Those arent countries
I didn't know 32 degrees Fahrenheit was freezing but then again I'm Canadian and we use Celsius where freezing is 0 degrees
The trope is not people who are gluten intolerant go on and on about it. That's the trope about vegans. If anyone thinks people who are gluten intolerant go on and on about it is most likely because they need to constantly inform people and restaurants that they physically need food without gluten. With vegans it's a choice, but gluten intolerants, it's not.
IRISHTRISH YES I was hoping someone would say that. I'm gluten free (not by choice, I'm intolerant). Vegans on the other hand (the true vegans that don't wear leather or silk and all that), make a choice. So maybe that's why they always seem to go on and on about it, because they made the choice to do it and they believe in it.
Except that the majority of people who vocalize that they are on a gluten free diet don't actually need to be on one.
.
I Am Nerd ? What?
what?
AHAHAHAHAHHAHAHA "i have a disease!!!" GMM is absolutely why this channel have 1000 episodes and still running
Wait she lives in Maine so do I also they are making more gluten free food so I hope that makes you feel better
I've got gluten, dairy and soy allergies, and an intolerance to animal protein, and the only positive is it's actually hard to be unhealthy. I can't eat fried foods, most desserts, processed foods, fatty meats, potato chips, and chocolates. I lost 40 pounds in a few weeks once I found out about the allergies.
Do a will it meatball!!!
Lizzie is cute, blonde AND from Maine? Is this love? :')
Bryce Galloway I wanna go to Maine so bad! It's on my bucket list. I'm telling you because of course you care lol
My family and I went to Bar Harbour in 2013, it was the most beautiful place I have ever seen.
Bryce Galloway I can imagine! I am in Florida but I miss the fall foliage so bad lol
I have the symptoms that they listed, but my doctor just chalked it up to IBS (Irritable bowel syndrome)
Sadly, some doctors when they just give up just claim it as IBS. If you're having a lot of pain and stuff, you should get an endoscopy or colonoscopy to rule out IBD or other diseases.
Thanks for the advice and replies :)
Owlmygosh there's a blood test for celiac now! However if you are already gluten free you will get a negative result.
A lot of the same symptoms of celiac also apply to a true milk allergy. I was pretty sure I was Celiac, got the test done, came back negative, got tested for a dairy allergy, came back positive. Or as positive as a dairy allergy test can be,
I didn't know Italy was part of ww2. We literally only learnt about England, America and Germany in ww2
You didn't learn about Italy, Russia, Japan, Australia and many other countries that were also involved? That's sad, schools are garbage these days.
raspberryice Lol "world war". Meaning the world was involved. Egypt, India, Greece, Canada, Etc.. were involved as well. Pretty much everyone. Though fascist Italy was one of the main axis powers.
raspberryice you missed japan
I love listening to Rhett's "in the future" rants Although I don't think any of it will happen it always makes me laugh
Its barley in beer, not wheat (mostly).
And gluten is in wheat, barley, and rye.
True, not disputing that gluten is in beer, but they said its because beer is made from wheat.
I feel like I was watching friends gathered for drink conversation. It's great 👍🏼 👍🏼
