In Spain we don't say almuerzo for lunch, we say literally comida! Almuerzo is usually a bocata that you eat at 11am for example, in between the breakfast and lunch time (between the desayuno and comida)

I’m glad you made this video for tourists! 😊Guys, please be aware that some of these words may be different if you travel to a country in Latin America.

Buenas tardes it’s very common in many Spanish-speaking countries. You don’t say dias after noon . If you say DS afterwards, they will understand you and they will understand you are trying. But as long as you’re learning, you might as well learn how to say TARDES.

Whenever my wife and I travel to Europe we always learn at least a rudimentary level of the local language. It’s respectful and some of our best travel moments have been conversing with locals in their language the best we can.
Can you do a video addressing the recent series of anti-tourist protests? We always travel respectfully, but the recent protests have us rethinking if we should be traveling to Europe at all. Thanks!

Hi Mark! This reminds me of a question - how do you deal/handle resentment from folks on traveling?
In my 20s, my friends were often traveling. Japan several times, Europe a few more, etc. For one reason or another I couldn't go but I always tried to be happy for them and just told myself my time will come. Now, in my late 30s, I can finally travel! I try to be aware and respectful (that is, not over talk trips) but I'm finding these low-term friends of mine are making "comments." I notice, too, coworkers make snide comments about others who travel.
Thank you for all the videos! I've watched you all since 2013 and I remember a nice comment you left on a response from me saying I'll do great when I travel. :)
    Cheers, Rae

    Hey Friend,
Off topic but i have a suggestion for US Do's and Don'ts - School bus rules - stop well behind a school bus the is stopping / stopped and its red lights are flashing - wait until the lights stop flashing before advancing or passing an oncoming bus.
Was following a bus and thought how important this is for your foreigner advice videos.
    Best regards.

If you want to get a drink, red wine is "vino tinto" and not "vino rojo." There was even something named "Tinto" in this video! It's a little confusing because vino rojo literally translates to red wine, but it's vino tinto. Learned that one in Mexico!

Thank you for this video. We are flying to Barcelona for a Mediterranean Cruise in July. This video is helpful since we will arrive a few days before the cruise and stay in town a few days after we dock. I’ve been brushing up on my Spanish the last 2 months, but you have provided VERY USEFUL words and phrases. Keep up the great work!

I'd suggest ordering a "caña" (normal beer from the tap) instead of "cerveza" because the latter can mean a big beer in a lot of tourist traps. Very few Spaniards order a "cerveza", especially in Madrid.

People going to other countries should speak that country's language.
Not doing so is extremely rude!
If you are going to live in a country there is ZERO reason for someone to not learn the language of the country they're moving to.
Have so respect or don't go.
