I recently broke one of the latches on my oldest 12 year old Pelican case. I emailed Pelican about the latch and the next day they sent me out two free replacement latches. Its hard to beat a lifetime warranty with great customer service. Worth every dollar!

Folks are flocking to the Apache and for good reason. They are tough. I see people commenting about the Pelican warranty but no one commenting about the Apache warranty. Is that because the Apache doesn't fail?
Apache is roughly a 1/4 of the cost. Warranty or not you may never really need one.
I use an Apache on the ATV, so far it's waterproof! I haven't rolled my ATV down a mountain lately so I don't know how tough it really is but at least it is waterproof. BTW you should check out the video when I did roll down a mountain.
I use a Pelican box on the handle bars for quick access items. It too is waterproof.
I use a Pelican for CCW needs while flying, why Pelican for flying. Simple. They made the box that fit my needs perfectly!.
I just received my first NANUK (909). No mission for it yet but I may build a Go-Box for a QRP Amateur radio with it.
I also have very inexpensive Plano boxes for vehicle travel. (truck bed) and they are waterproof. Seems all of them are waterproof.
Oh well starting babble. Buy what you can afford and what you like. Most of these are good products.

I personally like nanuk the best. I already have 2 and just ordered 3 more. I think the design and protection is better then Pelican

Pelican has an almost bomb proof warranty and outstanding customer service, So does Nanuk.
Apache has a 90 day warranty.

@@jbcasesoriginal -- One of the "problems" with Pelican is that that the reason that they are stronger is that they use thicker plastic and as such, they weigh quite a bit more... If you are going to be checking a bag on an airline, that does not leave much room before you exceed the 50 lb limit that most airlines have before they charge you for overweight baggage... If you have expensive, but bulky items that you just *have* to check (i.e. you can't carry them onto the plane for whatever reason), then this is not an issue for you... If you are wanting to use one of those cases for a checked bag for your clothes, it's entirely possible to exceed the 50 lb limit if you fill the bag all the way up... If an item is expensive, I prefer to have it in as a carry-on bag, but sometimes, these items are not even allowed except in checked bags (e.g. firearms)... Everything in life is a compromise though and this is no different...

back in 1996 I bought a Browning travel vault 1850 I think (seems to be a relabeled Pelican rifle case) it has the NON articulating latches, and weighs a solid 335 lbs empty. I bought a shorter Pelican rifle case 1720 about 6 years ago with the new style latches and it is many pounds lighter. and Just bought two Apache cases 1800, one for a tough tool box, and one to transport some pistols. I was pretty pleased with the Apache as I would not have spent $120 on a throw in the trunk tool box. but the toolbox impressed me so much I picked the second box up for pistols. Roto molded cases are VERY tough, and protect what is inside quite well.

Pelican is second to none, but the Apache is far better than you would think given the price!

Watching videos with 2019 prices discussed and then judging it against almost two and a half years of runaway inflation (as of Apr 30, 2023) really makes a man think. Both the Pelican and Nanuk are about 30 percent more expensive nowadays.

Depends on what you are going to put in the box, how vital survival is of said item, and what conditions the box will be in. Apache will get the job done in many cases but if you need it to not fail go Pelican or Nanuk. I went with a Nanuk rolling case because if just felt better in many ways. I have Apache for some camera gear that I just need to protect when stored. If I was going into a combat zone I would not hesitate to go Pelican even if it cost me some ammo.

one is Chinese made(apache). one is canadian made(Nanuk) and one is American made(pelican). So support USA made products which is obviously superior of the 3 boxes but the Nanuk is top quality without a doubt.

All of my pelican cases I bought used, built like a tank so it doesn't matter. All were well under $100 except my rifle case which was exactly 100. Plenty of deals to be had if you keep your ear to the ground.

If you're in Canada head over to Princess Auto. They sell the same case as the Apache line but under their own Power Fist brand. Look up 'Impact Resistant Case' on their site.
Another alternative are the Maximum waterproof tool boxes from Canadian Tire. They cost more (but still less then Pelican or Nanuk) but they're also noticeably better in quality and features. CT also puts them on sale pretty often so I would snag one then. Their made by Doro Cases in Italy and come with a 5 year exchange warranty.

Nanuk cases are awesome and if you're Canadian it's a no-brainer. Being from Texas I've always used pelican cases made in the USA but I really like the Nanook cases much better.

The latches on the apache are a non issue. Mine work and hold very very well. I find them to actually be a little hard to open. If ya got money to burn get the pelican or nanuk, if your a smart shopper that wants a great case for a little bit of money get the apache. nuf said!

Where do you think your iPhone or Android phone was made, or your computer, or many of the parts for your American car? Americans buy many products, or parts for products, from China. I'm all about supporting the domestic economy, but I can't afford a $2000 cell phone, so I but iPhones which are made in China.

Because they're junk and the think that keeps the fucking box closed is real important. Stop being salty that you made a bad purchase.
