Fallout is a great series and game. I will certainly follow you guys on this series. However, i would highly suggest watching the show "SHOGUN". That is the show that is going to win all the awards this year. Masterpiece on every level.

that turret that was shooting at Wilzig and the dog is known in game for being incredibly inaccurate so I think that was why they had it be so bad lol kinda cool
Yeah the show has like video game logic all over where stimpacs cure just about anything and you can literally run through machine gun fire. Loving it.
Edit; Not to forget the ridiculously large bag of gear the squire carries. Hinting at the unreal amount of gear one carries in games. Brilliant

11:33 I love the creators of the show embraced some video game tropes like the stimpak that magically heals you from any wound, I think most writers would have tried to do something more realistic, but who cares it's a fictional universe anything is possible.
One of the vaults in the game lore was one man locked inside with no way out and just puppets to keep him company.

The weapon Lucy uses during the attack on the Vault is called the "Syringer". In the game it's a weapon that allows you to fire certain syringe darts that cause various effects to an opponent.

16:36 It's definitely Pre-war tech. There's not much inventing going on because everyone is too busy trying to survive. There are certain factions that do invent new things but it's rare.
In some rare cases there are improvements made on top of pre-war tech, but it still relies on what was available from back then. One example is Enclave power armor.
The only faction doing real, original research and development is the Institute in the Commonwealth.
But she played the game, all of the games. So she definitely knew what Power Amor was wink wink.

Mrs. October, one of the great things about this show is it is a separate story from any of the games, yet it is cannon to the universe of the game. They did such a good job with this.

Yes bottle caps are currency. After the war, the water traders got together and discussed the new world currency. It had to be something more durable than paper, plentiful in the wasteland and not able to be easily reproduced. Nuka Cola was the most popular drink in the world, so the bottle caps were the choice for new money. Caps are backed by water the way the US made the dollar backed by gold, giving caps a real world value
Howdy neighbors! I watched my brother play a game in the 80s called "Wasteland" that is the predecessor to Fallout 1. Myself, I fell in love with Fallout 3, then played New Vegas, and my fiancé bought me Fallout 4. We both just finished this series and I was really impressed. Hope Mr October liked the intro into the universe, and definitely make him play one of the games!

That's correct, it's set about 10 years after the events of Fallout 4. It is also considered canon for the Fallout world.

Omg, so glad ur doing Fallout. Since Ive been bedridden past few yrs Games like the Fallouts, Skyrim, GTA get me thru each day much like YT. Im on my 63rd play thru of Fallout 4. Love the mods can play different everytime, same with Skyrim. For story I love New Vagas, Fallout 4 for building settlements and for battles and collecting Skyrim. This show is amazing, the visuals r so on point, the vaults, the weapons, the music, the freakin' ghouls, from the stimpak's to the pitboys. The dart gun is the syringe rifle it sh00ts a few different type syringes, to paralyze, reduce damage resistance, etc. Pays homage to all Fallouts very well and I love it. Super fun watch, Thanx so much, Peace

I feel ya, I've lost count of how many times I have played Skyrim, but i have been playing it since it released. And i can still find new things in it, even in unmodded playthroughs.

Just to let you know, the characters are original. they are not from the games. however, this show is considered canon, and takes place in the same universe of the games. i wont say where or when but they will give you that info at some point.

Caps as currency comes from the original Fallout game (1997). That game takes place in the southwest (like this show). In that game there is a faction called the "Water Merchants." They established bottle caps as currency. You could exchange bottlecaps with them for water, so caps became the currency of the area with water backing it as a valuable resource.

There would be massive ecological change if there was a large-scale nuclear exchange due to nuclear winter, loss of vegetation, atmospheric pollution from soot, etc. Yeah, I'm a nerd for that stuff, even took a class on it in college.

I only played a bit of the first fallout way back in the day, didn't really get into it very much, but I was pleasantly surprised to find out that I enjoyed this show. Can't wait for season 2.

This show takes place 9yrs after fallout 4. Bombs dropped in 2077 fallout series takes place in 2296. This show falls into the canon of the fallout universe but is its own story. The vault 31 32 and 33 are all connected the only set of the 100plus vaults vault tec built that are like this.

Thank goodness MY turrets are accurate . . .
My only assumption about why the turret missed is because when it fires it jostles around making it unstable which causing the targeting system to be thrown off. That is why there is a sign that said "Please Remain Calm" so that the target would just freeze allowing the turret to kill the target. A quick fix solution. Either that or just to honor the players of the game who never gets killed by the turret no matter how many times they get shot by it.

I"m on new vegas now....play maybe a couple days every few weeks. but its fun.
I like how the Mrs wasn't even phased by the ultra violence of the gun fighting. So you know she's played Fallout, probably with the Bloody Mess perk. These are all new characters just set at a different time and a different location. Fallout 1,2 and New Vegas take place on the West Coast, which is where we're at. If you played those games you'll know what's going on over here.

Fallout 4, 3 and New Vegas are well worth your time.
People recommend 1 & 2 as well, but to me they are just too outdated now, even though those hung up on the games lore, love them.
I can't even imagine watching this show totally from cold, but to me although some people are peed off about some lore stuff, I think they did a fabulous job, and the 2nd season should be
epic if the makers keep it up.
Personally, I would suggest reading up a little on the games - at least the bare basics - I think you would enjoy your journey through the TV Show much more.

Anything to make a buck. For anyone who missed it, one of the themes of Fallout (games and TV series) is an indictment of capitalism. That goes all the way back to the OG game in '97.

The ending was a shot was of (what was) LAX.
So the timeline for Fallout diverged from ours around the '50's, where instead of miniaturizing electronics and developing green technologies, we focused on nuclear tech, creating miniature fusion reactors and huge vacuum tube supercomputers, enhanced cybernetics, and robotic tech. the 1950's aesthetic as of 2077 (when the bombs dropped) was kind of a retro-futuristic sort of fad that was going on at the time, as it is documented in the games that Pretty Hate Machine and other 80's/90's era things did exist, but were out of vogue by this time.
China was the dominant antagonist superpower to America, not Russia, and constant tensions between the two fuelled a nuclear arms race much like it did in our world, but the paranoid fear of Communism was more pronounced here, sort of like if the Red Scare just became an enduring facet of society instead of just a fading memory when the USSR fell. The European Commonwealth was analogous to the EU, and Canada ended up breaking off from the UK as a commonwealth at some point too.
About 2052 is when world petroleum reserves began to run out, and oil wells began going dry. The Resource Wars began, with the European Commonwealth invading the Middle East for their oil, but after 8 years their wells dried up too, so the Commonwealth withdrew, and then devolved into infighting and the European Civil War began. Tensions between China and America flared, and the Sino-American war began in 2060. The US had already invaded Mexico for it's oil, and car manufacturers were desperately trying to switch over to fusion tech as gas engines were no longer viable with no fuel. Vault-Tec corporation had been established in 2054 and won the contract for the government project Safehouse, to prepare for a potential nuclear war with China.
In 2066, China invaded Alaska, and Power Armor units were the mainstays of both fighting forces. By 2076, the US had annexed Canada to bolster its failing economy and began pushing back, launching a counter-invasion of China, and then, just a year later... The Great War happened, the launch of China's nukes after being pressed up against the wall by the US military prompted our own nuclear response, and, well... you know the rest. 200 years later is when the events of most of the Fallout games take place.
As to the Vaults, they each had their own distinct directives, the only known ones to be connected to each other are the ones in the show: 31, 32, and 33.
Also, Ghouls are irradiated humans who didn't die, but rather mutated and adapted to the radiation, although their features are 'ghoulified' in the process. This gives them very long extended lifespans, and actually gives them increased strength and regeneration in the presence of radioactive material. They have no noses so they can eat food normies find disgusting (yes they still need to eat and drink), but their status makes them resistant to most drugs so they have to take copious amounts to get the same effect as humans do. Their enhanced physiology that is resistant to damage helps them in this as well.
Finally, bottlecaps are the currency of the wasteland because the tech to manufacture and paint them is gone, so it's a resource that isn't rare, but also not prolific, and not prone to inflation, so it works very well as a currency.

Series essentials without spoiling anything given the show stays pretty vague but nothing I'm saying here looks like the show will even tackle given it has its own plot line and we're all along for the ride,
The year in the show is 2296 and takes place in the same timeline as the games but is the furthest story line in the time line of events of the Fallout universe.
Lucy is a vault dweller. A bunch of vaults were constructed before the war to house those financially able enough to purchase a home within them for their family. She's the descendant of the survivors and as vaults go hers is a rather good one and she's an excellent byproduct of underground living as it was intended.
Maximus is member of the Brotherhood of Steel. The Brotherhood is a surviving group of humans that were once a large military unit and their families from California that survived the war by taking shelter in a reinforced underground military bunker. They're a technology cult that hoard technology because they believe humanity will doom itself to oblivion if allowed to use technology in irresponsible ways that will domino effect to a nuclear war all over again. They once ruled the California wasteland but, fell on hard times after a series of conflicts with the human settlements that were already developing on the surface. They are being supported by that massive airship you see which came from their Eastern chapter on the East coast(the Eastern chapter is explained if you play the games Fallout 3 and 4).
The Ghoul is...a survivor. Ghouls specifically are humans that survived the war by sheer luck. The radiation of the Fallout of the war didn't kill them but instead made them somewhat immortal but the trade off is explained in this show and if you play, well, practically any of the Fallout games you'll get a deeper explanation of their people meeting a lot of them in the wastelands each game takes place in.
Also, don't worry about not knowing that much about the games, the franchise, or the lore. This is an original story set in the timeline of that world after all of the games so you're getting a unique look into the world of Fallout and it's told in a way that even non-fans can sort of understand what's going on. It's not going to Mandalorian season 2 you with a bunch of lore details and references you won't understand without context. It's pretty cut and dry...of course, for us in the know there's a lot of issues, debate, and questions but, that's for us to worry and nerd out over.

My thought was that the ocean water was less because of the bombs vaporizing the water in that area, there's just less now... but I don't really know if that makes scientific sense.

Lucy stats are pretty good on everything else besides her Charisma because it's seems kinda low maybe a 5 or 6 , I'm not sure about which stat fits her being naive tho because she's too trusting

i watched 2 episode for now too and i was positivly suprised A LOT bc 99 out of 100 video game adaptions into movies are totally crap with the tone and atmosphere of the world.
i was super suprised to see a adaption with a nice feeling like in the games.
i hope they can keep this up to this standart for the rest of the episodes too.
the story is not to bad and it makes sense till now. i only dont like the splitting for each character, but this is just a personal matter.
