In regards to the high and dry, when you say top up with prosecco, how much typically is the top up? Depending on the glass used, one could end up adding too much volume of prosecco.
Some of the many things I love about TOTR:
1. the video quality
2. the enthusiasm and joy
3. the style and beauty of the glassware/tools
4. the knowledge
5. everything!
Best comment! Thanks Jacob! Really means a lot. Cheers!
Just made the High & Dry. This is instantly one of my all time favorite coctails ever! DAYMN!!!
Thanks for sharing my Negroni riff 🥰 the High & Dry is one of my favorite cocktails I’ve ever created!
Thanks for creating it! I mean it, legit my favourite Negroni riff ever! Cheers 🥂
It's a fascinating exploration of how far the boundaries of this classic cocktail can be pushed while still maintaining its essence.
Man, you have the best glassware I've ever seen. Where do you even get some of these? I get a lot of mine at thrift stores and I can occasionally get something really ornate, but yours look absolutely fabulous
HAHA! Thanks Jacob. Well for this video, most of the glassware is from the Cancan bar where I shoot the videos. My collection is still in the boxes, stored in a warehouse. We still haven't unpack our things since we moved in France. I miss them so much!
@@TrufflesOnTheRocks Ahhh, I see! You know, my wife and I just recently moved from the States to Japan earlier this year, so I understand your struggle. It's tough navigating an international move when it comes to your personal belongings, but hang in there! If we were able to do it, you and Sefra certainly can! I ended up taking all of my 60+ cocktail glasses with me..LOL
By the way, I recently bought a single malt whisky from France called Armorik Classic. 46% ABV, natural color, non chill-filtered...the distillery is located in Lannion, Brittany and it's a really good whisky if you're interested. :p I figure it's probably readily available where you are! Anyway, have a good day, and cheers!
@@J-oki TOTR and I share a couple pieces of glassware (it’s such an addiction!). I got mine from a store called Cocktail Emporium in Toronto, Canada. Not sure if they ship to Japan though haha! Cheers! ☺️🇨🇦
The Summer Negroni you shared earlier this summer has been my go to cocktail! Can’t wait to try the High&Dry!
Dude, very excellent look at Negroni variations, bravo
Jean high & dry 12:13 best tasting note cheers mate
OMG! I'll be in Florence for Negroni week! So much for remembering my trip!
And you just realized it now? Haha that’s so awesome!
@@TrufflesOnTheRocks Just learned about Negroni week from your video! Cheers!
@@AaronDidIt I’m glad you did! Enjoy Florence! I live this city. The best street sandwich place is IMO the Al Antico Vinaio. Bon appétit
@@TrufflesOnTheRocks awesome tip! Merci!
Fantastic list and video, cheers
Thank you!
Hey I thought I saw a Tweet that you couldn't get a video out this week? Maybe it was someone else? So glad to see these terrific Negroni variations! This cocktail is consistently a huge favourite. I sip them all year around! Fabulous! Empress Gin is made here locally on Vancouver Island, near to me, and the distillery is outstanding to visit. Love a cold brew Negroni! I regularly make superb cold brew coffee!
I had the chance to visit the distillery some years ago and meet the lovely team and Empress. Such a nice place and delish gin! Cheers Christine. Hope you'll like the cocktails ;)
CHRISTINE!!!! Happy Friday to you!!!!
@@TrufflesOnTheRocks Oh yes I love these cocktails so much Jean-Felix and I am thrilled to see your video! I always enjoy them so much!! I really enjoy the variations and your cocktails give me some amazing ideas for Negronis as we get to enjoy more beautiful summer warmth!! It doesn't get much better than a Negroni and especially so with the fun of tinkering a bit and making a 'new' Negroni! I hope the heat has cooled down in France a bit! I am thrilled that you got to visit the Empress Distillery!! Awesome people and really lovely to see!! Cheers! 🙂
@@christinecamley thanks for asking! The heat is still there but much it’s more bearable now.
@@TrufflesOnTheRocks Good news Jean-Felix!!
I can’t recommend trying the High & Dry enough. It’s an amazing cocktail and will win over someone that says they don’t like gin.
The last one was my favourite 😁
bro your glassware game is outstanding. I gotta get me some more of those haha
Great list! Enzoni deserves a mention as well
I’ll add it next year 😉
J-F!!! The Negroni is my favorite cocktail, and I love riffs on it!!! I will def be trying these!!! I love my Empress Gin!!! CHEERS to you!!!!
It’s a classic for a good reason! Timeless, simple and tasty! Don’t forget to come back here and tell me which one of the list is your favorite. Cheers
@@TrufflesOnTheRocks I most def will!!!!
Thanks for providing some new ideas for using Empress gin. I keep it on hand, because it's one of the few gins my wife likes (the blue botanical seems to mute the juniper). It works well in a Bramble, but a Clover Club I made with this gin looked unattractive, and a Pink Lady looked truly revolting. Maybe it doesn't work with egg whites, because both of those drink came out gray. Anyway, it's always great to see new cocktails for Empress gin, so thanks!
I like the poster on the wall behind you!
The decor at the Cancan is very cool!
Okay, this is gonna hurt. They all look so good have to try them all right now!!!!
Pace yourself Richard ;) I don't want to be held responsible for your hang over. I said 7 Negronis for 7 days remember? HAHA
Negroni Week!!! Love it! Must try all of them!
I love your attitude :) But not all tonight right?
@@TrufflesOnTheRocks I mean it is Friday here! But sadly don't think I have the stuff yo make all of them
@@MrMoney331 i think it’s better that way... for your health 😂
Huge fan of Negronis, thank you for the great ideas!
Hi from the Sainte-Genevieve Ave.
What do you mean from Sainte-Genevieve avenue? That’s so funny because that is where we used to live in Quebec City 🤪
@@TrufflesOnTheRocks I've met you while you guys were walking Lea the small grey poodle a while ago. I have then found Found your videos while looking for cocktail recipes
@@gomerdi oh haha! That’s cool! Sorry your profile picture doesn’t help me recognizing you 😂
Great video! I just love Negronis and definitely trying these. I'm not too much of a fan of Campari so I use Contratto Bitters instead.
Thank you! I never had Contratto bitters before. Does it have the same sugar content and bitterness that Campari does?
@@TrufflesOnTheRocks I'm not sure about the sugar content. It's more herbaceous than Campari and I feel the Negroni's are less "syrupy". Contratto is colored with beets and hibiscus whereas Campari is artificially colored.
Been wanting to try the Tone Curve since this video came out, finally got around to having all the ingredients, it didn't disappoint ! Empress is a really good gin, but the feature I like the most is the color 🙂, it can really look stunning if highlighted correctly. One thing I would enjoy whenever you make a video with a home made ingredient like the gentiane infused italicus is give some ideas of other uses, because we always have leftovers. You don't have to test them yourself, just a sentence on which classic cocktail could be interesting to try with this ingredient would be great !
That’s a great point sir! I’ll definitely keep that in mind next time. But for this one, just think of it as a “Bergamot Suze”
Have you tried my Esmeralda? A smoky Mezcal Pisco soir with size and orgeat... it would work great in there I’m sure.
P.S. I made a mean Martinez riff with that gin you brought me. Thanks again 😃
@@TrufflesOnTheRocks That was delicious, thanks ! Gonna have to try the normal Esmeralda now 😊
FOURTH!!!!!! YUP!!!!
I was waiting for a white Negroni, but I guess it is not Campari based.
I prefer Salers over Suze and use Dolan Blanc over Lillet.
One thing I like to play with when it comes to very bitter drinks is adding a drop or two of saline or a little salt. It reduces the bitterness similar to sweetness.
If you like a white Negroni, give the Tone Curve a try. It’s basically one but with bergamot liqueur with gentian infusion (the base of Suze or Salers 😉)
Hi, you should try the last Negroni with Martini Asti....
High & Dry
too hot bro the clear ice melting 3 times faster in this summer, cheers..😁🥃
I was so stressed out LOL I didn't want to show sloppy watered down drinks LOL
I just love negroni! So many things to try makes me really happy! Suggestion: 1oz Old Tom Gin, 1oz Dry Vermouth, 1oz Campari
That's s good call to use Old Tom and Dry Vermouth together. Cheers!
I’m not gonna lie here. After seeing the list for the “high and dry” I made it along with you in the video. But I took a sip BEFORE the sparkling wine haha! 😅
HAHAHA!!! How was it? Did you like it better after adding the bubbles?
@@TrufflesOnTheRocks honestly it was still really good without the bubbles, but I did like it a bit more with the bubbles haha. The St.Germain in the drink was a game changer! I loved it!
You are a genius .....High and Dry is a very interesting and unexpectantly satisfying cocktail. It's now in my top 20 favs. Interesting enough I had all the ingredients but had to guess- because I had a bottle of orange blossam water - how many drops is two dashes of Orange water. My research was 2 dashes is 2 1/8 teaspoons or 10 drops per dash. Was I even close? Perhaps you could advise in future vlogs. Cheers from Toronto
Hi Susan, thanks for the comment. I'm super happy you enjoyed the High & Dry. The dash is very subjective actually. While all our other measures are precise in our industry, the dash remains subject to change from bartenders to bartenders. I said a few times in my previous videos that for me a dash is about 1ml. Ten drops is a bit short but with orange blossom water, which can easily be overpowering, I think you hit the spot pretty well. Hope this helps. Cheers!
Not too sure which one is y favourite a few new to try. Love the negroni with various gins which makes for a riff? Does changing the gin make a riff? Need to explore that ;)
I wouldn't say a different gin makes a riff cause there's no specific gin mentioned in the classic recipe, just gin. But it mos definitely makes a fun experiment to try with different gins and see which one works best. Empress is a great pick btw ;)
The Negroni Frappe seems awfully close to being a Last Word riff. :)
My favorite is a mr black nigroni
Well you know what? Stay tuned cause next week there's something special you might enjoy a lot! :)
Should I try one per day during Negroni week... Or should I try them all tonight?? 😁 Looks awsome!!
Hum 🤔
@@TrufflesOnTheRocks Doesn't help... 🤣
@@sefraisik9142 HAHA!! Well we do as you want, I'm down :)
@@TrufflesOnTheRocks I can already feel the headache 🤣
@@sefraisik9142 should we stick to one and a bottle of wine tonight?
your description for the frappe is wrong. in the video its montenegro and the description is sweet vermouth
Thank you for pointing it out. I changed it. Cheers!
@@TrufflesOnTheRocks no probs, god bless your great vids
jean will be amazing if you put the recipe in thumbnail photo ,i mean the photo before to start makingthe cocktail in the video. Maybe you don't put it because it will spoil this wonderful photo. I if i remember corectly you said you would make a video about the photography studio and the filming of the videos.you are lying to me?love you man 💋
Didn't lie, just waiting for the right time and format to make it. Cheers!
