      POINTLESS GUY The problem though is if you buy it at launch and then try and sell it a while after then it would be a massive loss. Seriously this phone came out like March and I'm pretty sure by Christmas it will be under $300. That's unreal.

      Samsung and Apple has a lot of religious customers, thats why price drops very slow. Religious customers rather buy last years Samsung or apple phone, than brand new phone from other brand.

      LOL LG's quality is shit. I'd still be using my G3 right now if it didn't die from the very well know and well documented flickering screen issue. Not to mention the massive bootlooping problem on the G4s. I'm really considering getting the G6, but LG's spotty past is keeping me away. It's a shame because I really like LG phones.

      There's also a 128gb option here, I got it from a local store which doesn't ship internationally. In addition, phones here might not work with European sim cards and vise versa. I'd suggest that you wait a month or two until the price go down then get it online from Amazon or any other trusted company.

    What is your opinion on Xiaomi in 2017?
    1. Dominating the Fit Band market.
    2. Dominating the Smart Home Market.
    3. Dominating the budget phone market.
    BTW, since you are a tech geek, I suggest you to try the MiJia Xiaomi Mi Smart Home Products.
    You need to download their Mi Home app, and when they say where is your location, choose Mainland China. Do not choose Europe, Singapore, India or etc. Choose Mainland China.

    • @leowong8777
      @leowong8777 Před 7 lety +14

      wclifton968 You people clearly didn't own a product from this company. They sell almost everything cheaper and better than their competitors. And for those who think their UI is similar to iOS, it is not. In fact, it has more customizations than stock Android. Plus the battery life is much more than flagship phones because of the software and the processor Xiaomi chose. It doesn't cut off on performance too, performance is blazing fast because of its UI with the processor it provided.

    • @leowong8777
      @leowong8777 Před 7 lety +13

      wclifton968 No, they do not spy on you, unless you have the brains to download Chinese malware(which I guess you accidentally downloaded). I also guess you read an article about how the Chinese government is spying on you through a Chinese phone. Well, they do that in their country but based on laws in other countries, they cannot or they can spy on you. So for example, I live in Singapore and laws here don't allow such spying hardware in consumer electronics to be allowed.

      Nice! Yeah i looooooove the wide angle camera. My only complaints are the ips lcd screen (downgrade from the amoled i'm used to) and the sd821, but really the display is quite beautiful and the SoC is fast enough at least for the next year or two. All-around great phone for the price. Would not buy full price, but at $450 it was a steal for me

    I've had a general trend downwards in the price of my phone over the last few years as I've come to realise that for what I want my phone for the flagship phones really don't provide value for money for me. Currently using a Lenovo P2 because the battery is ridiculous and the rest of the specs on the phone do everything I need. I'm a little disappointed that the P2 isn't more popular given that everyone's always going on about wanting a battery that lasts 2 days and then one comes along and it gets a middling response.

    • @TechAltar
      @TechAltar  Před 7 lety +31

      Because it doesn't perform like a flagship people want top notch specs and great batterylife so basically people should just glue a 4000mah powerbank to the back of their phone

  • @StephenTownsley
    @StephenTownsley Před 7 lety +58

    I pretty much made the same transition. I had a Lumia 950 and was a long time Windowsphone user. I also think that Microsoft made every possible decision to remove their market share and could still have a modest business if they were even interested in consumer sales these days.
    Anyway I don't like Samsung because of their insane duplication of apps that are already in Google Android and crapware you can't get rid of.
    The G6 was cheaper than the Oneplus 5 in the UK and is getting cheaper. I like the wide angle.
    My launcher is the Arrow Launcher from Microsoft and my home screen is mostly Microsoft. Microsoft seem to support Android better than Windowsphone.

      Stephen Townsley Well this is interesting... I've been using a Lumia 1020 for 3 years now (still works great) and have started to look around for a possible upgrade. I found myself gravitating towards the LG G6 as it ticks most of my boxes (waterproof, reasonable price, headphone jack, etc). Anyways.. Good to see fellow WP fans in 2017 :-)

    • @StephenTownsley
      @StephenTownsley Před 7 lety

      Had the 1020. The image quality was unbelievable and if there had been a 1050 or 1060 with Windows 10 Mobile I would have bought it. However the 1020 had one issue - sensor speed. The processing took a while. The Lumia 930 and 950 turned out to produce almost as good picture quality with faster sensors.
      I still have my Lumia 950 and my wife has one. Windowsphone would still be my daily phone if Microsoft were even vaguely interested. They are not. The main Microsoft failing is they dont really love mobile. Nokia was the best thing about Windowsphone.

    Gonna buy this phone probably sometime next week! I currently have a G2 that I've been using for the past three years & it's been a great phone, but some of the buttons don't work anymore (I've downloaded substitute buttons which help but they get in the way too often), some of my apps don't work as properly & the battery doesn't hold charge as well as before. This phone is my best bet cause the price is reasonable like my G2 was at the time. I could easily afford the Galaxy S8 or iPhone 7, but I don't want to pay twice as much for a smartphone.

    I had nearly bought a G6 over the OnePlus 5, but after using both I went for the OP5 despite the G6 being better in most regards. The G6 is as fragile as the S8 despite the milspeck rating. People dropped their phone not even a foot high and the back panel (and in one video I saw online, the front panel) cracked. But my main issue is with the software. It's not being updated regularly in India, and it lags a good few, the phone can't remember my app preferences for gallery and file managers, and even with just moderate use it heated up.

    Drága TechAltar! I work in a smartphone lab and we have learned from our own experience not to buy lg phones anymore. LG G3 was a great hit, even the LG G4 was excellent up until it died, usually within a year, bootloop troubles. LG provides the best screens and the audio is also great, but it finishes the battery very fast and the bootloop-death is still a problem sometimes even with their newer flagships. I know, I loved my LG G4, till it died, my boss did let me to upgrade to LG G5, but I didn't like it that much. LG G6 have a DAC only with the 64GB version and in my country it's as expensive as the galaxy s8 (which is faster, more reliable, and it also has DAC. So, I have upgraded to s8.
    About offers, a cheap LG G4 with the redesigned motherboard should survive till the end of its warranty. As a media mini-tablet it should be fine.

    I bought an International G6 H870DS for my sister and she told me it recently died on her. Apparently the screen froze, so she did a restart. It went to a boot loop and died. She couldn't turn it on anymore. Because it was an international version, it doesn't have warranty. She is now in the process of having it repaired in a official LG center and paying out of her own pocket. She's currently waiting on their diagnosis and a quote to repair the device.

    I hope G6 have good assembly cause my LG G3 was a big dissapointment. Thousands of users complaining about overheating issues, asking for a recall that did not happen and after trying to fix their phones on their own. Actually every user of the previous Lg phones that I talked about complained about the quality and durability. I really like the budget price and quality of other LG eletronics (Tvs, Monitors) but when it comes to Smarthphones I do not trust the brand. Hope they learned with the previous mistakes.

    I'm probably pretty biased since I had the LG G4 . That bootlooped on me a few months ago while still under warranty, so I got the G5, and I've loved both phones. The fact that the lock button is on the back is really ergonomic for me, and the camera app is great with the manual mode and wide angle mode. Again I'm p biased, but if I was looking for a new phone rn, I'd so go for the G6

  • @MatthewMoscotto
    @MatthewMoscotto Před 7 lety

    Very good point. Alot of consumers don't realize LG cheaped out on the front face camera for 5 megapixel in the year 2017???? And what's worse is that the LG G5 has a better front face camera and better sensor at 8 megapixel. They went completely backwards in that aspect. All in all though the LG G6 is the best sleeper device of this year. And I put it in the Top 5 of 2017 easily.

    according to gsmarena
    Samsung S8: 148.9 x 68.1 x 8 mm (5.86 x 2.68 x 0.31 in)
    LG G6: 148.9 x 71.9 x 7.9 mm (5.86 x 2.83 x 0.31 in)
    No, the LG G6 is not thicker than the S8, it is somewhat thinner (by 0,1mm). However it (the G6) does feel chulkier due to its sharp bezels

    And since mine arrived a year ago. I've kept in good condition, I found out that the sound/speaker quality sucks, and the headphone jack is defective. One of the contacts has a tendency to pop out in a number of phones. Several people have had similar experience, not LG G6 but more 5-10 is a problem.

    I switched from iPhone 5S after 3+ years to a G6 and it's hard for me to find anything about this phone I don't like. Both OSes are pretty much on par now and G6 is much cheaper for what the hardware offers.
    BTW thanks for validating my purchase satisfaction

  • @ernestoreyesmoncada6159

    Ive had a LG G6 for three months now and i must say, although is a pretty fine phone, is not more resistant than others in the market. Before doing the purchase (which in my country turned out to be incredibly cheap, i paid about 190 USD), i read a lot about its military test resistance and this feature was the reason i decided it over the Huawei Mate 9. Despite the "high grade resistance" i bought a spiegen case to get more protection. Everything was ok until the day i dropped the phonce since 2 and a half feet and the screen smashed completely, even though it had the protector case. I took it to the dealership and they repaired it free cost. While the reparation was in process, i got a Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 as a back up phone (got it for 200 USD) and im amazed by the performance and beauty of this phone (fair to say the camera is not even close to G6's). Currently i got my G6 back brand new, not repaired, thanks to some guarantee issues i was benefit from, but i dont miss it at all. I quickly became a Xiaomi fanatic and im hoping to get the MI MIX2 soon.

    Down to earth review! I'm beginning to be more and more into what you post, because you just so damn spot on! Back to the review, after living with the G6 for one month now, I´m not convince if this is a good phone or not. Pictures i feel the same as you do(great looking, but zooming in and everything is bah), UI bit weird at times, and overall look I feel like I'm sitting with a phone that need to upgrade to 2017 standard! But I will give it more time, hoping that it will get better.

    I think LG makes the most interesting phones. I bought a G5 a few months ago and it has been great. I have the wide angle lens which I love. The modular design makes changing batteries extremely easy and fast. Finally, I paid 250 for it making it a better value than any of the budget phones. It's the only phone like it. I also love the V series of phones which are interesting and unique in their own way.
