Tip for the beginners out there like me:
When you’re knitting in the round, a stockinette stitch doesn’t alternate between knitted and pearl rows. You just knit the whole time and because you are always on the right side the pattern is stockinette.
Maybe obvious to some but I was seriously struggling until I learned this :)
OMG THANK YOU SO MUCH !! I was struggling so much
Me who doesn’t know what a stockinette stitch, and a pearl is: :’)
It’s PURL
Ahhh thank you for this !! First time for circular needles so I’m overthinking it all !!
Genius! Thank you for your foresight in sharing!!!
When you just want a chunky knit sweater that's not a cable knit sweater and can't buy them anywhere it's time to make one. I've only ever done basic knitted hats and thanks to this tutorial feel more confident on making this type sweater. Thank you
I taught myself how to knit and started with scarfs. It's only been a couple of months but the needles you use are so beautiful. I can't wait to begin my sweater.
4:12 PRO TIP: don’t screw on interchangeable needles by holding them at the wood portion of the needle. Over time you will weaken the bond between the wood and metal and they’ll break. Always screw them on while holding onto the metal base only. 😉
Ya know I don't own this type of needle, but will definitely do this if I get one lol
Do i need to switch the needle ? Can i just use one all the way
Holy moly I was mesmerised by this vid. Currently feeding off of a recent desire to knit and embroider. Hope it last long enough for me to learn this kind of stuff. I know a friend who would loooove a top like this
You can do it!!!
I love the light blue sweater you’re wearing. Gorgeous! Would love to learn to knit that one too. 👍🏼
It's a favorite of mine too :) Pattern is not my own, I think I have it linked in the description!
@@WellLovedKnits Thank you❣️
@@WellLovedKnits i love your light blue sweater too. would you please show us how to crochet it instead kniting it. thanks in advance
@@yazenfairo7505 she doesn't crochet
@@elirae9419 thanks alot my dear
Such a cute sweater!! Saving this video for when I finally get out of my beginner knitting era and move into the phase where I can make useful objects :)
I love this video! 😍 thank you so much for all the effort you‘ve been putting into your videos and your instagram!
Love, Bella.
I'm just so glad you love it!!!
The LYKKE Kit only goes up to 12mm, PLEASE can you let us know where you got the 15mm interchangable needle? Thank you in advance for your response.
Hey! It’s knit pro :) 15mm works on the same needles!
@@WellLovedKnits Thank you for your response! So helpful! Can't wait to make this sweater.
Very nice knit
IF YOU ARE A BROKE COLLEGE KID LIKE ME BUT LIKE BULKY/CHUNKY YARN LISTEN UP
paint box yarn has a rainbow assortment of acrylic yarn called “simply chunky” and it’s $3 a skein !
you just saved my life tysm
THANK YOU
how did you knowww :')
I'd love to do this if my mom hadn't temporarily banned me from knitting😂 (since I idiotically used it as an escape and my grades suffered poorly)
THANK U
Omg this is THE BEST explanation video for knitting a sweater - thank you so much, I finally understand how things are working!😍🧡
You made this look so easy! Thank you. I love the look of the sweater.
This is my third time knitting this jumper because I love the process and finish so much of this one
I just bought one of your patterns and I’m so excited to start! I used to knit all the time and I’m sooo excited to get back into it. I love sweaters as well so it’s perfect lol
Thank you for sharing this beautiful knitting tutorial ! 😊💗
10 seconds into the video and I love you already! You’re amazingly talented and charismatic 💕
Thank you so much!! Really kind of you
I bought this pattern yesterday and am almost done with the back panel. Very exciting to see my first sweater come to life!
Hey! I bought this pattern too, but do you knit the back and front panel in circular needles or on straight needles and then sew them together?
i cant find the pattern, can you put a link of the pattern on the store? i think it no longer exists but im not sure
I follow you on Instagram and I love your patterns! I'm glad I've found your YT channel! I've started knitting in December and I can't wait to make this sweater as soon as my local yarn store reopens!.
Keep it up!
Edit: grammar mistakes
Ah! I love hearing that :) Thanks so much for following along!!
I find it very cool that you buy at a local store!
This looks so cozy and cottagecore, matches my vibe.
I’m brand new to knitting and not ready to take on an actual project, but I love your videos so here I am 😂
thank you so much for this video!! im attempting this as my first sweater and it makes it so much less intimidating!!
Hi, I just wanna say that admire you because to knit it's a great labor, I don't even to knit, I watch tutorials to improve my english skills so thanks for sharing.
That's actually such a smart way to learn a language! I'm going to give this a shot with swedish! Also, your English seems awesome going off of this comment :))
I think using another color for the neck, bottom cuff, and sleeve cuffs would look really nice, I'm excited to try this out
This video was so helpful! I can't wait to try this!
You sure make this look easy! I love this project and hope to try it soon ! Thanks so much for sharing how to so this and all you do. You are so gifted and seem like such a wonderful person.
Oh my gosh!! You’re so sweet. I hope you give it a try for yourself☺️
Been looking for a way to make my own simple sweater with my specific yarn/needle specifications (I haven’t been able to find a free pattern). I know this video is for a certain pattern but I really feel like it has helped me understand how to make my own with my specific needs in mind. Very helpful, thank you!
Thank you for the tutorial. It looks like I can knit the sweater. i will try it as soon as I have time and material.
you make it look sooooo easy! I so very want to try this sweater! you are so talented with your knitting skills! 😍
It's so very cute, both the sweater and the way she was explaining it, just one bad thing the process seems difficult for beginners, apart from that it was super cool video ❤️
I feel bad because I’m sure she explains really well but 10 seconds into the vid and you already lost me-
for more in depth tutorials on the basics of knitting, i'd recommend verypinkknits for imperial style and arne and carlos for continental style.
Same, I don't understand a single thing
Same here. As a beginner, I wonder why it says beginner friendly in the title, because I'm totally lost. Still, thank you for taking the time and effort to make this video. The sweater looks really nice.
Same 😭
Lol me too
Made your v-neck vest for my daughter. She loves it!
when using a long tail cast-on on longer stitch counts, use both ends of the ball, or two strands. tie the ends together closely and then begin the long tail method as normal, both stands live off the ball(s). you will simply cut the extra end off once your stitch count is achieved, no guessing.
this is absolutely not for beginners and no way "step by step".
Obviously it’s meant for new knitters, but not people who have NEVER knitted before. This is common knitting sense. You never start knitting by knitting a sweater. This video is amazing.
thank you for sharing this beautiful knitting tutorial !😊💗
Glad you enjoyed it!!
you have such a professional collection of needles!!!!!!!
Brilliant , and so easily understandable...thank U Bethany. 💥
I wanted to share this info with you. The Lykke set I bought from Amazon was a fake. I can't believe that a dupe would be made on a knitting set. The way you can tell is the placement of the Lykke label. Their signature label is placed directly flush with the stitches, also they don't have Lykke engraved on the zipper on the authentic one. Another thing is the needle board that has velcro is supposed to be a perfect rectangle but on the fake the bottom corners are trimmed off. I hope all this makes sense. A big give away is the 24" cord is actually only 15" in length. All of the included cords are not the correct length.
I only want to inform you and others because the needles are not handmade or made to last. Thank you for reading.
Yikes!! Thanks for sharing. On the Lykke website they have a list of shops where you can find their product! I would recommend checking there!
@@WellLovedKnits Your Lykke Set looks real, and I went ahead and stopped by my local shop and they sold me a real one. Thank you for your great info. I am making a video on the genuine one vs the dupe.
I unfortunately don’t have anywhere near that sells the LYKKE sets, so I could only resort to Amazon. So, I can’t confirm whether or not the ones on Amazon are fake, but these are still pretty fantastic knitting needles. I’m pretty sure I got all the right cord lengths, all 8 stoppers, etc. I guess since they may not be the real deal, these are a pretty darn good “dupe”, they are made to be basically the same but $40 cheaper. Idk, as long as you have the right size needles for pattern, will it make a huge difference if they aren’t real LYKKE?
@@brbrat9 There are some places that will sell Lykke Needles to you through their local online shop. Just do a search for it on the Lykke site. For me I read too many reviews where the needles broke in half after just a few uses. I agree the dupes are almost identical in looks but not in quality. I wanted to save $40 too but not if they're only going to last for a month or two. I made a video to spot the difference if you're interested.
@@WellLovedKnits I cannot find the size 19 interchangeable needles anywhere, as part of a kit or separate tips. The kits only go up to size 17 from what I can see. Anyone in this thread have any ideas?
Looks stunning 😍
I don’t know how it’ll turn out, but I did it! I took the plunge and purchased my first knitting pattern. Wish me luck!! Thank you so much for this adorable sweater!
You got this!!
@@WellLovedKnits Thank you so much! Happy Holidays and thank you again!! :)
update???
Recently bought the pattern! I’m so excited to try this out
Yay, thank you! Hope you like it x
I loved the way that's you makes things easier for me 💖🌺
Video is So Clear😊👌🏼 I appreciate this Video & thank you !!!❤
buying the pattern asap, it looks awesome!
Bethany, thank you for the "Free Guide: Super Chunky Yarn on a Budget" link. Much appreciated :)
Lovely sweater and very clear instructions. It almost makes me want to knit a sweater. Almost 😂
she deserves more subs and likes. didn't she????
yeah
Yes.
Hi! Absolutely love this sweater! Also I was wondering, do you use the magic loop method to knit the cuffs? Or do you manage with 40cm circular needles?
I crochet and want to branch out learning to knit to find a fellow Bethany that also crafts ♥️
Thank your for the chunky yarn on a budget document !!!!!
It looks superb !!!
Love the neutral natural color! 🐌🌰
Thank u very much for sharing this.😍I will try it.
I watched one video on beginners knitting and now I’m here. I haven’t even knitted anything before. I’m lying in bed watching this at midnight
Wow that is so cool. I cant beleive how good you are.
too good for a starting channel
ghourl u killin it
thank you so much! it's really encouraging :)
I love the video. So few tell how many skeins they use. It is easier for me to calculate to my size when people tell their size and amount ❤
I’m so excited to make this!! I’m newer to knitting and only have the US 19 circular needles. Could I knit this using only US 19 needles instead of switching from the US 17? What would the difference be? Thank you!
I saw Tom Daley knitting on the olympic yesterday..thats why im here..really love to learn this❤

Sameee
Absolute beautyyyyy ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Amazing thank you! Can I ask, did you cut your yarn to knit the left shoulder side when you finished the right? You put your stitches for the left shoulder on another set of needles and then knitted the right side , that would mean to knit the left after, without connecting the 2 sides you’d need to cut? Just checking to make sure I do it right !
Yes that's right! Just make sure you have a long enough tail so you don't lose any stitches and weave in the yarn strand afterwards.
You did a Wonderful job!!!
This is awesome!i am a kid and i just learned to knit
thank you so much this helped a lot 💗
I love the sweater you are wearing! Is so pretty.
idk how to knit but im OBSESSED NOW so I believe I can do and im going to DO IT
Oh dear, how much i would like to knit like you do ! 🌹
The sweater you are wearing is so beautiful 😍
Hellohello -
Question :) How do you usually wash your cozy mock jumper?
Thank you!
Hi! Where do you stop seaming to start the arm holes? Is this specified in the written pattern? Thanks!
Uuuu I like the tutorial is so simple but i must to try😁thank’s for the tutorial👋🏻💗
when i start back yarning i hope to make some patterns and lines.
I just started knitting and I really wanna try to make this sweater it looks stunning, the only problem is that I don't own any circular needles do you think I can still make this with straight needles?
For the body, you could use straight needles if they come in the size you need to get gauge. For the sleeves, you will need circular needles or double pointed needles to knit it in the round.
Wow! I didn't even know that there are interchangeable needles?! How cool is that?!
Lovely and to the point guide, love this^^ So underrated channel.
Great video thank you
Wow I am very interested with knitting good job keep it up more
Hi! I'm following along with the pattern and the video. I don't have interchangeable needles, so when I needed to change to size 19 (15mm) for the back panel, I purled one row with one size 17 needle and one size 19, but then I looked back at the video and I saw that you knit one row when you changed needles even though the pattern says to start with a purl row. Did I screw up? Will this affect the sweater as a whole?
I love this pattern
Aw thank you so much!! I love hearing that!
Thank you so much dear i made it i love it 😍💋
Hi! I purchased the pattern and can't wait to make it - I was just wondering did you end up with any extra yarn after using 5 skeins of the WAK Wool for the Medium size? I want to make one for my sister and she has weirdly long arms so I wanted to adjust the pattern but don't want to play too much yarn chicken so I'm debating getting an extra skein or if 5 should be enough to extend the arms an inch or two.
Hopefully knitting a sweater will be my new hobby.
Wow it's amazing
Hello, bought the pattern everything in going great except for im confused in the shoulders, if I cast off for the right shoulder where should my string start for the left? Or what do I do to pick up the left with? Super new to knitting, please help. Thank you!
I'm interested in buying this pattern, (it's super cute!), But there is no size guide for your individual sizes, do you have any bust measurements for each size so I know which to choose?
very helpful video, thank you
Hi!! I bought your pattern but I am lost with the back pannel. Once you reach the desire length, do you just cast off the whole black pannel?? or do you decrease like the front panel to give a little shape for the neck? Please reply because I am sure more may had gotten confuse..... thank you!
I love this!!! I just cannot find any US 19 needles at all! It seems like everyone caps off at 17. Is there a substitute size to use?😭
It is beautiful!! I will try !
Yay!! Tag me on Instagram so I can see :)
@@WellLovedKnits for sure!
Great tutorial! Will definetly use it in The future but maybe just tweak some things to my liking
Wow Fantastic that's the same I have but other was also pretty
Hard to make too
Hey ! I loved this one definitely gonna try it
Can you make a video on how did you make that blue sweater that you’re wearing
Hi! I'm sorry, but as the cardigan pattern is not my own I don't feel comfortable doing a step by step tutorial. It would not be fair to the designer. Thanks for your understanding! x
Beautiful sweater 👌
Glad you like it :)
cool how you come up first when typing the words "knit sweater"
what tips and threads do you use? what brand? because I have the knitpro threads but I don't know if they are suitable for Prym tips
I had to save and give this a like 👍
How is this one of your first videos??! You're killin it 😍 excellent job
Also, hold up. Were those lykke needle tips and knitters pride needle tips using the same cord? I didn't know that, that's awesome!
Yes two different brands! 15mm is KnitPro :) They magically work on the same cord! So convenient!
Glad you liked it!!
Hi!
Thank you so so much for this video, I just bought your pattern yesterday and was so delighted to discover the video as well.
Question : I would like to use DROPS ANDES instead of Crazy Sexy Wool, do you think it can work? Can I go maybe with a size up in the model (M instead S) and with a smaller size of needle?
Thank you!
I am not familiar with the yarn, but that's probably what I would do :) So glad you're here!
прекрасный туториал! большое спасибо! все понятно! 🥰🥰

Hi there, I'm wanting to make this jumper but with contrast sleeves. About how much length of wool did the sleeves take?
