- It is still long time to go for a sunny summer days, but I am trying to encourage myself for a new season riding.
This time we have extreme cold winter days. The temperature is around -15, -20C. So why not to start the engine of my Honda VTX at this cold temperatures...

If starting the bike video took him almost 10 minutes, doing an oil change would probably be a 9 hour video.
24 volt starting system. Pour hot water on the carbs. Thank me later.
That is sooo hard on a bike. The oil is normally thicker on a bike, so those bottom bearings are not gonna get enough oil for a while. The starter clutch was slipping from the cold. A lot of wear if you were gonna do that too often. 😃
So what's the solution? To save the starter from wearing

The exact thing happens to our vtx 1300 machines when it is below 0F. The starter acts up or something. It shouldn't be started in those temps. The motorcycle is fine, thank you for the video.
We live above 10,000ft in Colorado and there motorcycles are stored in a shed 6 months of the year.
from my knowledge with starter motors, what was hapening is the pinion gear (the part that meshes with the flywheel) was rotating, but the solenoid (the bit that actually pushes the pinion into position) wasn't fully engaging (maybe because it was cold and frozen) , those screechy noises were the pinion gear grinding against the flywheel teeth, like if you were grinding gears in a manual stick shift

@@ahmedzainy4971 Engage it on 1st gear and manually move the bike for some time and then try to start, I have seen this method of warming up in such weather. But I think some amount of wearing will still happen in such temperature.

roll it in gear and leave clutch 2 times is enought to let gear and pistons move little bit. then u can start it easy
