Legends: Arceus is the best Pokemon game of the last decade, probably since ORAS, and easily the best Pokemon game on the Switch. For that reason, Z-A needs to try to stay true to how PLA played, but also improve where PLA faltered. PLA was a phenomenal first entry of the Legends series but it wasn't without its problems and Z-A simply has to expand and improve upon what Legends: Arceus did.

I would actually like to see something like the airship on Horizons get incorporated, start us with fixing a jank town like last time, but as we get ride pokemon get us goals to get pokemon for a flying team base that can be called to pick us up in the field.

the whole catching-progression aspect of legends arceus i feel could be such a nice secondary mechanic.. not just in legends games but mainline as well, especially since we're keeping this open world/zone aspect (great video!!)

TBH, I’m half expecting GF to drop the open world aspect in gen 10 and justifying it by saying it was gen 9’s gimmick and was never supposed to come back (like secret bases, yes,I will never not be salty about gen 4 nerfing them and gen 5 dropping them).

I think what Pokemon struggles with the most visually is resource scaling, modern hardware does not need Pokemon or environment details popping in, you can load them in a lower quality, it becomes especially obvious on high places, if you look at a lake you can just see the same texture repeating, they need to keep in mind how it looks from a distance and reload the texture depending on your distance, its so strange of a thing to struggle with because its so easy it makes me doubt laziness is the only explanation, gamefreak is known for keeping their developers close maybe they literally just haven't figured out how to do it for whatever reason.

At one point, Paris didn't want any wildlife in the city at all. Nature was slowly reintroduced when King Louis made people see nature in a different way. In Legends: Arceus, people and pokemon live separate lives and are just barely coming together as partners. Legends: Z-A could be so rich in lore. It'll most likely focus on the point where Lumiose City goes from a concrete fortress meant to keep out hostile pokemon, to a modern mecca where people and pokemon live and work together in peace and harmony.

I had this idea a while ago what if they mixed a city building sim with pokemon in a like new leaf kinda style since you know supposedly we are only going to be in lumios I think that would be interesting and just gut feeling is that legends games are going to be fair more experimental than we think while adding a ton of lore

You're very optimistic about switch 2: pokemon's track record is releasing on their own schedule, usually on the last gen, even if a new one is inbound or out. Speculation and leaks proclaim it to be backward compatible with switch, so why would they target the new system and miss out on the very large switch customer base? Hearing nothing about pokemon in the direct is also common, since pokemon tends to do their own dedicated directs.

7:03 oh my god preach. Not only is this style of gameplay and progression way more fun than the other main series games, this also increases the game’s lifespan.
It’s just so fun to complete everything and come back to it to do it all again. It’s just so easy to rack up hours in this game.

My main gripe with Legends Arceus' art isn't that I find it ugly, it's that it was maddeningly inconsistent. There are small areas that look downright gorgeous, but then you take five steps to the right and the environment turns into a brown goo.

  • @tomnorton4277
    @tomnorton4277 Před 23 dny +1

The most important thing they need to do for me is to retain and improve upon the battle system. Obviously, they're going to bring back Mega's (and I want Fire/Flying Mega Rapidash gosh darn it!) but if they could also combine it with Abilities, battles would be even more unique than they are in Legends: Arceus.
One aspect of the battle system that bothered me in Legends: Arceus was that you could be easily revenge killed even after using an Agile Style move. I would tweak that, so fast Pokemon who defeat an opponent with the Agile Style are guaranteed to hit the next opponent first IF that opponent is slower. Priority moves used in the Agile Style should bypass the next opponents speed altogether on their first turn.
For example, if you knock out something with Agile Style ExtremeSpeed and the opponent sends in a Regieleki, Regieleki should still go second. However, it would go first if you used an Agile Style move that DOESN'T have priority.

Ah that’s okay. Sadly not much to garner from the announcement trailer. It’s fun to speculate tho
I think Scarlet and Violet look uglier than Legends Arceus and is even more mismatched with cartoony creatures and uncannily realistic humans with an even more jarring environment.
Legends Arceus has a bit of a problem with it being too plain with its backgrounds. It’s okay. It doesn’t look good but i don’t think it looks ugly.

honestly im getting tired of the dedicated rider pokemon thing in the new gens. There literally just reskinned bikes (in SV there literally bikes😭). The whole appeal of ridable creatures in other games is that you tame and build a bond with them its like going on a journey with your pets. But in pokemon its ALWAYS so random ass pokemon that are given to you and they can't be used in batlles (discluding gen 9 which i think was the worst implementation and let's go) . Theres no bond with just random given pokemon and there only uses are for transport so they literally are just reskinned bikes .
i think gen 9 was the worst of this cause not only do you get given the ride pokemon its literally the only pokemon you can ride and its literally required for moving anywhere in the map. At least you can battle with you ride pokemon and you get the herbs for them so there is some bond with them but i just think its just dumb.
lets go was the best implementation as you can ride you own pokemon but i still wouldnt call it perfect. First of all you cant get a pokemon and just ride it whenever, the ride feature replaces the following animation so either you can get a pokemon to follow you or ride it.Its not bad but you get no flexibility or options your just forced to choose one or the other. Have gamefreak not heard of a dismount/mount button? Second of all the ride pokemon cant even jump climb or do anything outside there set path. It does kinda make sense for lets go which is not and open world game(although the pokemon should at least be able to jump or something) but if we implement this system in the future it wouldnt make sense in an open world game cause theres different terrains the player must move through. I dont think it needs to be ridiculous like gen 9 where you ride pokemon can do everything(actually i really dont want that it made no sense in SV the pokemon just spawns floaters like???) but charizard should at least be able to walk he had two legs for a reason and someone like machamp should be able to climb he literally has 4 arms the pokemon shouldnt be as limited as in lets go.
what i would want for a pokemon ride system is that instead of giving out ride pokemon you should just be able to use your own pokemon. You may be thinking but then you probably wont be able to get ride pokemon in the early game because most rideable pokemon are evolved or fully evolved. And yes you'd be right but thats a good thing. If your limited in the early game in where you can go it encourages exploration. And in the late game where you have access to more movement options with ride pokemon you can explore those places again and find new things. This is similar to the old system but instead of just being predetermined to get a ride pokemon and a given moment you have to work for one yourself which also changes the pacing of the games. The early game would be harder as now you wont just have a free tool and it can reintroduce SOME difficulty in the games(i dont think itll make it that much harder anyway due to the other changes gamefreak made to make the games easy). Also you'll make a bond with the ride pokemon cause its your own pokemon you can battle with it, play with it and now rode with its so the bond is stronger than a glorified taxi driver.

In defense of SV, you can get to most of the games Gym, Team star, and Titan battles on your own, by following the path trailing to each town. It’s just that the ride Pokémon enables the exploration and traveling to become way more convenient.( It’s also way more convenient to press the plus button once and have all mode of transportation on one Pokémon) .Just the fact that they walk faster makes you want to use them and that’s before any of the Herba Mystica upgrades. And you using them throughout your journey so much, it makes you grow a bond for them. Every time you get an upgrade and you leave the Titan den, you immediately want to try the new upgrade.( Also yes, in Koraidon case his throat sack expands, allow he to float.) The titan den cutscenes themselves, give some personality to the ride Pokémon giving them similar traits to a dog.( They also show these traits in the idle animations) .Include all these factors, and then, by the end of the game, you actually feel for the ride Pokémon. The final battle got me and a lot of others players hyped. In conclusion, I think the ride Pokémon concept was done well in SV and wouldn’t mind seeing it execution similar to it again.

You are gonna go broke if you are gonna pay to people go to the doctor for thinking PLA isn't ugly, because in fact it truly isn't, its a very beautiful game for the style is trying to emulate and a lot of people think the same as me. Its basically on pair with Rayman Origins and Sonic and the Black Knight for an aesthetic spectrum, but the graphics are better than those two.
