I don't recommend anyone doing this especially if your inkjet printer is still under warranty. It's actually a complex project only trained technicians can do it. I am a system admin and I know what I am talking about.

Great reminder! Thank you! I agree and should have mentioned that in my video. I’ll pin your comment so hopefully people will see it as a word of caution and proceed once they are aware of the risk.
I also want to note most people watching this have already voided their warranty by putting in 3rd party sublimation ink. Or their printer is headed for the trash because of an issue and this is the last attempt to save it.
I am not a trained technician and my printer is up and running and working great so the risk paid off for me, but it also could have ended with my printer being toast!

Thank you for this info. My printer warranty was voided as soon as I put sublimation ink in it, so it's no big deal if this doesn't work for me. I might as well try it since my printer is just a paperweight right now.

So if there is regular ink it it now, couldn't I just print and print till it's as empty as possible, then put in my sub ink and run it through til fully filled with the sub ink? I know that would be quite wasteful, but seems easier in theory??

Hi Karley! Well done!! I am a technician who has been working on office machines for 25 years and I just wanted to say that I think it's great that you did it yourself!! There is nothing magical if you just take your time and pay attention. Sure, you may make a booboo every now and then, but I love it when I see an energetic lady take tools in hand and "get at it". Hi Karley & well done for biting the bullet. For your future reference & anyone wanting to do this or maybe service the purge unit, (where the print head carrier rests to the right of the printer when not printing), simply go into test print mode, no need for any paper, start the 'test print' and as the head moves across to the left, either turn off AT THE MAINS OUTLET or pull the power cord from the rear of the printer, whichever is more convenient. The aim is to time it so the heads stop anywhere other than over the purge unit. DO NOT turn off at the printer 'on/off' switch as you did, it will always continue to the normal resting position and lock in above the purge unit.
The head will now be free to move easily.
When all done & restarted, the printer will automatically reset its position ready for use.
Hope this helps & Kind regards - Ken. (England, UK). 🇺🇲🇬🇧

@@KarleyHall You are welcome. Another little tip if you need to clean the printhead nozzles, simply fold a piece of paper kitchen towel 4 or 5 times about 1.5 inch wide, to be able to fit under the head on the platten, the bit over which the head travels, so that you are able to slide the head over it. Before sliding the head fully over, spray the towel with cleaning fluid, Windex glass cleaner is ideal, and then gently pull the paper through. Do this 3, 4 or even 5 times depending on how it is looking. It will not necessarily remove all ink at this stage. Then repeat with a dry folded towel. Then you should see a marked difference. Dry towel only once or twice.
Also, If the foam pad & the area where the print head parks is also in need, then simply clean this now with the same fluid. Spray it onto the foam directly and the little tray it sits in along with the rubber wiper strip which sits just to its left.
It will drain into the waste tank.
Then do 3, maybe 4 nozzle clean cycles, with a nozzle test print between each one. I suggest that you don't do a power clean as this shortens the lower ink pad's life.
If any bits of the nozzle print test are missing the odd segment or two, try printing a small, say 4 x 4 inch, test print of multiple colours. You can find these to download free on the Internet.
These processes can all be done individually or together without having to dismantle the printer!
I have revitalised at least 6 printers using these methods, all with 100% success and about to do another tomorrow.
Have fun & all the best - Ken.

I recently purchased a new Epson Eco Tank 3850 printer at Costco for $325.00. The setup was relatively easy and I had it up and running in about 15 minutes after unboxing. However, I am extremely disappointed in the quality of the printing for both documents and photos. The edging in the photos were grainy and the colors were darker then the original photos. I reset the color management and it still produced a low quality image. The scanner is also cheap inefficient. After scanning a simple document I discovered the text had jagged edges and the tops of the fonts in some sentences were chopped off. The only way I could get nice sharp fonts in a document was to scan in Photo Mode. The top automatic feeder which is used to scan multiple documents or make copies, pulls the entire stack of papers into the feeder all at once. I had to physically stagger each page individually to prevent the stack from jamming the feeder. All in all this printer is ,sfr of poor quality materials and is cheaply made. Thank God I saved the box. I'm packaging it back up and taking it back to Costco first thing tomorrow.

It totally was! I wanted to film it in case it worked 😅 and it did! So now I’m sharing it to give you more confidence than I had ❤
