Brought back some memories this did mate, Wednesbury my home town was a busy bustling town when I grew up there in the 90s sad to see it so tired now I left in 2004 and it just doesn’t feel like home anymore when I pass through.
And after 7 decades, unreasonableness has returned to the city
God I miss these old towns when they were full of people shopping, miss the old shops were they sold gentlemens clothing
Magnet was the best! Now it's yet another coffee shop
"modernism" and by that I mean it will look like a soulless ghost town, like they did to Walsall market area.
They should put the whole 20 million into reopening Teddy Grays. Best Sweet shop on the planet. Sod Willy wonka
What did the council expect when they gave permission for a giant like Morrisons to open up a megastore, it’s killed the already struggling high street and market stalls, even has a cafe inside so they went too.
The old kwik save and Woolworths went, no wonders it’s full of nail bars, fast food and tattooists, it’s a dead town just flatten it and make more parking spaces for mozzers.
Hi Phil enjoyed the walk around Wednesday I'm pleased to see the market back in the town centre and remember a bike shop at the bottom of Union Street next to the old bus station I used to work for Patent Shaft Steel works when I was15years old

Left Wednesbury in 1985. It's a ghost town as are so many today. Very depressing. Such is progress!

Teddy Grays is still open in Wednesbury, I go in for the Cola Cubes and Pineapple Rock

Should waive business rates and get some farm shops in there selling local produce, and more independent shops.
Totally agree, this would also work in the West Brom High Street.
Agree, would work in most high streets and would help out the farmers as they get ripped off by the supermarkets
The world has changed, no one is going to park up and drag food shopping back to the car from several little farm shops. What other independent shops can you think of? Ones that people would actually use. I appreciate the sentiment, and I find it sad too, but I really don't see how this will get better.

Wednesbury Town looks pleasant enough. It seems as though there are not too many boarded up shops that we see in many towns these days. I suppose nail shops/ hair shops are better than no shops, but totally agree"…………. How many of these facilities do you need in such a small area?

Probably build another car park like up dudley town.....old medieval towns, its a shame wats happened to um

Do you remember me Phil? I stumbled across your Channel as I saw a talk about Wednesbury pubs being advertised on Facebook. My parents ran The White Horse Hotel in the mid 80s. Thought I recognised the voice then you appeared.

@@DeanCopeland-yi3qi Hope you're managing your time well, retiring early can get very tedious. I shall have to come to Cannock one of these days for a spot of filming!!
@@awalkwithphil I retired on medical grounds as I'm on dialysis so that keeps me busy and out of trouble. I do home dialysis. I didn't want to retire but health my took its toll. Hednesford is a very small little ex-mining town it'll be ideal for filming, there's loads on CZcams but it's all about the raceway. You'll have to come over.
@@DeanCopeland-yi3qi Sorry to hear of your health, it seems you are managing it ok. You were certainly a great asset at your job. I have a few West Brom projects to film but I'll certainly add Hednesford to the list, i'll let you know and a meet up would be good.
